What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

I Melt With You - Sugarcult

^^1. It was removed with some of the pieces being sent to Six Flags St. Louis. 2. It is more likely to happen on another drop tower than it would on the tower the accident happened at (if it was still around). 3. It wasn't the rides fault, but the result of poor maintenance, so you shouldn't worry too much.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

^^1. That's because spell check doesn't identify individual letters as being spelled incorrectly. 2. Calm down, we are just having fun. If you make a mistake, you'll probably get harassed about it, but we do it to be funny, not mean. 3. Voyage covers the Mayflower part of Thanksgiving I could see a large flat coming to the park, but apart from a screaming swing or giant ferris wheel, I can't think of a large ride that would fit in a family park like Holiday World. I have a feeling that Holiday World might add a new coaster next year. However, for those who want to see an Intamin mega lite, I'm positive it won't happen as it is out of the park's price range. -

^Columbus discovered the Bahamas, Amerigo Vespucci (hence the name America) discovered the North American continent, and the Pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving with the Native Americans who saved their @$$ many times. Where were you in history class? -
What is your next park?
Airtime&Gravity replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The next park I'll be visiting is Indiana Beach, with Michigan Adventure the following week. Then unless I go some place in the winter, I'll close out my season with several more visits at SFGAM. -
8/2 Update Visit #11 of 2009 Since it was a really nice day outside, the park was really crowded. Saturday had pretty miserable weather, so many who would have gone then probably went on Sunday. -Whizzer's queue, switchbacks and all, was spilling into the midway 15 minutes after opening -Dark Knight's queue was in the area outside the old theater -S:UF's queue varied between 90 minutes to 3 hours -The other major coasters, with the exception of Eagle, had waits of about an hour. Raging Bull had a bad case of the B&M rattle from the Stengal dive until the final set of brakes Viper was bipolar. The first ride was great with lots of airtime, but my second ride had no airtime. On Yankee Clipper, the kid who I was riding with and I were talking about how he would get soaked. I then made the comment that "with my luck, I will get soaked and you'll be dry". Guess what happened... Ride totals over the 5-6 hours I was there: Bull - 2 Viper - 2 Yankee Clipper - 1 Eagle - 2 Dark Knight - 2 Dark Knight's long queue, and yes, all switchbacks were full Grrrr, I'm evil alligator statue, gimmie some candy King Chaos is a great ride to capture rider's facial expressions Yankee Clipper Twisty Intamin goodness Nerd Shot V2 Nerd Shot Lunch Eagle's helix structure is amazing, especially from the Tri-State From here to the end, the ride had a bad case of the B&M rattle Some nice floater airtime here Bull's awesome first drop Viper Viper You may not be gold, but you were free which is all that matters to a poor college student like me

I still have Disney tickets from 1995 when there was no expiration date. I haven't been to Disney World since, and I wonder if they'd accept them, although I'd have to upgrade to the adult ticket prices. I didn't mean to make it sound bad, as this is Disney we are talking about. Their parks are unmatched in the industry, and you get your money's worth. Although when compared to other amusement parks were tickets are $40-$60, $79 seems like a great deal. Edit, it was 95 when I went to Disney, not 96. Either way, its been a long time.

Sad story, but the article I read on it made it sound like that it might have been preventable. While accidents like this can happen anywhere, supposedly, the resort has been cited by the state branch that monitors amusement parks for safety violations in the past. I think many of them had to do with there being to few lifeguards.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Intamin isn't known for building cheap coasters, but as Elissa pointed out, Tornado at Bakken is a great coaster that would still fit in the price range. If this is indeed a coaster from Intamin, what about a zacspin? Insane cost about seven million, so if depending on what Holiday World means by second largest ride, whether it be size, cost of Voyage or the entire cost of the Thanksgiving section, a sizable zacspin could be built. Sure it's unlikely, but if this is an Intamin, it is possible. -
Andy Shine's Quiz Time

11/20 - knew some, guessed some, and narrowed down choices from question. I think that this was my lowest score yet on one of these quizzes. -
I'm not a big one for riding the kiddie coasters, as why ride a kiddie coaster when there are better coasters to ride. Now, if I have time, I might, but I won't go out of my way. The most credit whorish thing I have done though is riding the Little Dipper at Kiddieland earlier this year. I was going to be a credit whore at Heritage Square in Denver and Knuckleheads in the Dells, but both times, I've changed my mind before I got in line.

Yeah, I've known about this since 2008. In fact, this new policy is why I didn't go up there last year to marathon ride it like I had the previous few years. I can't blame them for it though. The park was never busy, and they can't make money if some one buys an all day pass, only to ride the coaster several dozen times without getting off. I would go in the fall when a pass would be twenty dollars, and I would get 40-50 rides (I'd also go to Mt. Olympus), so a ride that normally costs six dollars a ride would only be forty cents a ride. The owners have said that the park is struggling, so they need to make as much money as they can, although, there is no room to add anything. As for how they do it, they mark your wristband. Although the five ride limit is probably not enforced strictly. The ride ops at Timber Falls are great, and they frequently give riders a free ride.

Favourite small park

1. Lakeside - it has some great classic rides, an excellent wooden coaster (probably places in my top 5), a great wild mouse (lots of airtime, and sitting low in the cars going around the turns was kind of scary), and beautiful lighting at night. 2. Timber Falls - Hellcat/Avalanche, need I say more? 3. Kiddieland - another old park with some fun rides. Some of the larger rides have cycles that seem pretty intense for a park called Kiddieland. -
