Photo & Video TR: Kiddieland 9-26-09

Such a nice park, I just wish I could have gone there more than once. There are some good rides there, so I hope some other park picks them up, I really hope some park saves the log flume, and it wouldn't surprise me if Grizzly Jacks (a park looking to expand in Utica) or some park in the Dells buys some of the rides. I would just hate to see so many historic rides, mainly the carousels, be sold for scrap or parts. -
Sounds interesting, and hopefully the development finally gets built. Although with how long it has taken to get here, I'm sure that if the project does end up getting built, that it will go through several more changes. That being said, I still have my doubts that this project will ever be completed.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Even though I'm not a fan of having Millennium Force running over the ride, I am still a fan of the rides location. Most of the log flumes I've come across are out in the park, and most look pretty ugly. Shoot the Rapids reminds me of the log flume at SFSTL where it is hidden in the forest, and it should add to the ride, especially with the ride's theme. Also, the new log flume track looks really good, certainly a lot better than that of the old Arrow log flumes. -

^While it might look a little strange, I think it probably won't be too bad. It just might take some time to get used to. I thought I read that the area was too small, but that does look like it would fit nicely. Having such a large coaster like Chang would also be a great view to be greeted with when you enter the park, similar to how Shockwave was.

Insufficient restraints on coasters
Airtime&Gravity replied to mattnz's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cyclone at Lakeside only has a seat belt and metal bar to hold on to. It was pretty terrifying, but so much fun. There is also some good moments of airtime on the ride, and it surprises me that there aren't any other restraints. Greezed Lightning still only has lap bars which seems pretty minimal in today's world of OTSRs, but they still do a good job of keeping you secure. Whizzer and Tig'rr really don't't need the seat belts, but I can see why they were installed. They just don't seem to serve much of a purpose. Steel Hawg's restraints seem weird and over protective too. I can see the purpose they serve, but how the fit is just odd. The lap bar staples you in, and the OTSRs also fit tightly around you. The lap bar seems like it would be enough, as you aren't going anywhere when they are locked in place. The OTSRs don't seem to add that much more security. -
^However, with SFSTL being closer with more available space to store and/or build the ride, I think it is likely that SFGAM will end up building Chang. As I said before, I will still ride it, but I'd much rather see the park add a dark ride or some non spin-and-puke rides. Of course, having a major coaster added might end the "SFGAM is closing" rumor....although Dark Knight didn't do that.

Wow, this park looks amazing, and a lot better than I expected. I guess that after hearing about how poorly the park owned by the same company in Malayasia was run, I was expecting this park to lie in the shadow of the other Universal Parks. The theming looks great, and the rides themselves look really good too. I still think that the Battlestar Galactica looks weird with both sit down and inverted track together in such a compact layout. The ride looks like a lot of fun, but it just looks weird with so much track and supports in such a small area.

I really hoped that another park would have gotten Chang as I'd take Iron Wolf, as long as it got new trains, over Chang. Don't get me wrong, Chang is still a great ride and it should be great for Great America, but there are other parks in the chain that could use it. I just hope they don't have to take out Whizzer or Demon to build this. I'll still ride it, but I'd rather have several flat ride additions made to the park instead of Chang (or any coaster for that matter) The only problem I could see is members of the GP not wanting to ride because of how bad Iron Wolf is/was.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was wondering when these trains would appear, although I was positive Holiday World would be first in line to receive them. The trains do look a little strange though, but I'm guessing that has some to do with the program used. I remember a video being posted of the trains running on Legend or Raven, and the trains looked more like GCI's millennium flyers. The restraints look cool though, and hopefully these new trains make Voyage much more re-rideable. I will agree with the comments on the pars around the side of the cars. If those stay, hopefully padding is put there like on American Eagle. -

Nice report and photos. Wow, I wasn't expecting the park to be much, but it looks pretty good. The coasters while not amazing still seem fun, goo selection for the park too, and there seems to be a good flat ride selection too. Also, I remember reading that the SLC was pretty bad. Is this true, or is the ride somewhat decent for being a Vekoma? -

I also don't have a problem with the name. While it isn't the best, it sure isn't the worst, and as has been said, it is better than some of the Cedar Fair names. It does fit the ride, and for a name that no other ride has, it isn't that bad. -
I was reading through the Vekoma site when I saw an article on their new trains. Now you probably know about Vekoma's new train and track design, but the Battlestar Galactica coaster seems like it has been confirmed to be the first to feature the new B&M style train design.
