Wyandot Lake Sea Dragon Gone?
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No, the coaster and dry rides are still there, but under the name Jungle Jack's Landing. http://www.columbuszoo.org/guest_information/junglejackslanding.aspx -

Yes, if you go to the GCI website, you can see that this is going to the park in Shenzhen. This looks like a great coaster, and it is nice to see these massive wooden coasters being built in China. Hopefully more are on the way, as China certainly has the market for it. The ride itself looks immense, and GCI did a great job building it into the terrain.

Coasters at Night
Airtime&Gravity replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Viper - out of control with a great sensation of speed El Toro - also out of control, and those final high speed turns are insane at night Superman: Ultimate Flight - I'm not sure why, but I actually enjoy this ride at night rather than not liking it much during the day. Maybe it's because I don't come off feeling sick like I do when I ride during the day. Kingda Ka - To be fair, I've only ridden this at night. It is impossible to see anything, so when you drop, you just keep dropping and you have no idea when it will end. -
From Screamscape: I read that the new attraction replacing the Skeeball game will be one of those new 4-D attractions that Six Flags signed a deal for a little while back. I'm not sure if I believe that rumor though, as that type of attraction seems better suited for the main new attraction of a season, and not a secondary upcharge attraction. If the rock wall is getting replaced, then I can see a slingshot attraction being added, as not much else would fit there.

^They did a major renovation of BC Place. The stadium was indoors, but after the renovation, the seats were covered and the field open. It's still an indoor stadium for the most part though. Before: After:

^Even if the poles weren't there, he still would have died as he would have hit the ground at 90mph. Very sad and horrific accident, and although I knew the sport was dangerous, the accident is still unexpected. You'd think that the track would be designed with the safety of the athlete in mind so that accidents like this don't happen.

Interesting concept, although I still have my doubts that it'll be built or be a success if it is. The park and complex as a whole look really nice, but I just have my doubts about a park being built around robots working out. I could easily see aspects of this project in a park, but I'm unsure about a park being built around robots. I hope it does, but I have my doubts.

^Also, didn't Mark Shapiro say coaster enthusiasts will be happy with the 2011 addition? I won't use this addition, but as I said, it is great that SFA is finally seeing some love. Hopefully they can clean the park up and improve the service for 2010 as well so that they give a good impression to the families who visit. It'll be interesting to see this project when finished and see if it is closer to Wiggle's World or Drayton Manor's Thomas land.

Not right now, although it was earlier Are you eagerly anticipating the Winter Olympics?

^I actually think Michigan's Adventure is a strong property. For having a limited amount of guests to pull from, it does fairly well, and it doesn't have to be a large regional park. The park does lack flats though, and if a few major flats were added, it could do very well. The west coast of Michigan is a tourist area, and even though the park is away from the main tourist towns, a few major rides might draw people up there. For what it has though, Michigan's Adventure is still a decent park, but it does have room for improvement. Plus, for the price of admission, you do get your money's worth, and my only major complaint is the weak food selection that you pointed out. -
Wow, a 10% increase in visitors is a pretty big jump, and hopefully they haven't overestimated how popular the new additions will be. Ghost trains are fun, and it'll be nice to see what the owners, who also own Flamingoland, come up with. It's nice to see small local parks expand, and hopefully these new additions work out for the park, and since I'm sure attendance isn't very high, I'm sure they'll meet their predicted guest increase. Here's the RCDB page on the park if you don't know about it: http://www.rcdb.com/4820.htm

This sounds like a good addition, and it is something that Six Flags America definitely needs. The park seemed like it was forgotten about for the past few years, and it is nice to see Six Flags finally invest some money in it. I know the park has some problems, but if Six Flags can turn the park around, it can be a nice regional park. It is also nice to see Six Flags build a true land instead of just having a train ride, and hopefully other full sized Thoma Towns appear at some of the chains other parks.

Moreys Piers Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to LcHg5265's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I doubt it is a Pandora's Box since I doubt Morey's Piers has the budget for it. The concept looks like something you'd find in a Disney or Universal park, and not the Jersey shore. I hope a park does build one though, I'm just sure it won't be Morey's. -

Nice to see work on the coaster start, although, it seems like they face another problem as soon as another one is solved. Hopefully the snow doesn't set them too far back, and hopefully they can finally start to build the coaster soon. I now there seems to be some concern among the locals about when it opens, but even with the delays, I don't see there being any significant problem with opening the ride. -

Great job so far, and as said before, great job on the forgotten Arrow hyper. The detail in the buildings is also great, and this looks to have the ability to become a really good park. With only half of an 80x80 map being used, it'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Good job and keep up the great work. -

Photos of Shockwave and other defunct coasters
Airtime&Gravity replied to Screamin_Eagle's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice photos of some forgotten rides. Even though it was a terrible ride, Shockwave was still a far more intimidating ride to see looming over Orleans Place and Carousel Plaza than Superman: Ultimate Flight. Although, I'm still glad it was taken out instead of Whizzer.
