  1. First things first, buy your tickets online as SFGAM finally did what the other parks are doing(maybe I just noticed SFGAM late) where everyone pays kids price. Nearly every flat ride in the park can be ridden by an eight year old. As for the coasters, like has been said before ride Viper, American Eagle, Demon, Whizzer, Dark Knight, and Ragin Cajun. With the exception of Dark Knight, these coasters shouldn't have long lines unless you visit on a Saturday. As for food, bing it in a cooler if you want, but there are several restaurants around the park such as a Burger King, Wendy's, and a Steak n Shake. There is also a Golden Corral buffet just down the road if you like buffets.
  2. ^The only Six Flags park that could become a resort is SFGADV as they have hundreds of acres of undeveloped land. SFGAM almost added a water park, hotel, and shopping area in the 1990s,(when Time Warner owned the chain I think) but they couldn't get the permits.
  3. I know the park is for families, but there still doesn't seem to be much for the $50 ticket. Sure the park looks fun, but in a time when water parks are pretty much necessary for a major park, this park doesn't have one. I'd rather see a water play area like The Boardwalk instead of having Led Zeppelin. Plus, from what I know, I don't think the park has any water rides, and the rides that they do have aren't anything special. Sure they are fun, but they are just your standard flat rides, with nothing to set them apart from similar rides.
  4. I have to agree that the location was a pretty poor choice, but their expectations were pretty high too. This park would probably do better if it were built in Orlando Tampa, or Las Vegas. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing Myrtle Beach has going for it is spring break right? With the exception of that, it seems like an even more run down Wisconsin Dells. This park had a lot of potential when announced, but the loctaion was pretty poor, the whole park seemed to have been built fairly quickly, and there is no standout ride. If the park was built on a larger site with a water park and/or a coaster like a rocket coaster or a euro-fighter, then it might pull in more crowds.
  5. ^Actually, SFGAM is the most profitable park in the chain. SFGADV might have the highest income, but SFGAM has a higher profit.
  6. If any parks are sold, I'm guessing that Kentucky Kingdom and Six Flags America would be the ones to go. Hopefully they don't sell them for a reasonable price, and not cheap like they have been. The parks sold to PARC Management were sold for 40 million each I believe, and SFWoA was sold at a huge loss. The article was good, and I hope it works out for them. It will take some work to convince families to return, and to tell teenagers that they don't own the park. While I love large 20 million coasters as the next person, several smaller coasters can be built for the same price. Six Flags built two indoor coasters, and a great wooden coaster for just around 22 million.
  7. SFGADV does not need a big coaster, and either Shapiro or the general manager of SFGAM said Deja vu's and Splash Water Fall's spot would be replaced with one attraction. Plus, SFGADV got two large coasters in 2005 and 2006, and SFGAM hasn't built a large coaster since 2003. Of course, Six Flags might build clones at both parks, and then again, there is always Mirabilandia. As for KI's coaster, it now doesn't seem like it will be related to Beast. I'm guessing that the crate is just because of the relation to the parks two largest coasters.
  8. ^Yeah I know, I remember reading that someone thought that Clementon was bought by Six Flags, but the comments still made me laugh. I know the GP can say some dumb things(usually acceptable and understandable), but I'm just amazed when I look at coaster videos on youtube. Reading the comments also got me upset with people who think a ride is bad just because it is a family ride and not a hyper coaster.(Dark Knight and Evel Kneviel)
  9. I was looking at Dark Knight videos on youtube, and read these comments: "It should be bigger or longer like Kingda Ka or Nitro." - Now how will a coaster of that size fit in a box? Plus, I doubt that the person who posted that has any idea on finances. "It has a 48 inch height minimum, so you already know it's not worth riding." - because every coaster needs a 52 or whatever height minimum. Now, I like large coasters as much as the next person, but I know the park is trying to appeal to other people besides teenagers and coaster enthusiasts. The Kingda Ka/Nitro comment was obviously said by a SFGADV visitor, and the 48 inch comment was in the description of the SFGAM version pov, and while large coasters are great, younger kids want to ride coasters too. A lot of those complaining don't seem to realize that the parks don't just cater to their needs. I know Dark Knight isn't a great coaster, but it wasn't built for teenagers or enthusiasts. I still don't understand why so many people, even on this forum, hate it. I thought everyone knew what to expect when it was announced, and everyone seemed excited when the concept art was released. What the hell happened between then and now? Now, I'm sure no forum member posted those comments, but still. Oh well, less people in line in front of me... Is it just me, or does this belong more in the rant thread?
  10. The last coaster I rode was a trim-less ride on Raging Bull. Even the mcbr didn't slow the train down much. ^That trim didn't do it's evil work when I rode Raging Bull.
  11. So now the coaster is either in Wisconsin or it will be themed to Big Mouth Billy Bass. lol I know, Robb is now just trying to confuse us.
  12. Actually, I think Kiddieland is the closest park to Chicago... If this is for SFGAM, then it is much needed. However, Eagle never has a long line, and a new wooden coaster might mean an end for it as there will be no need to keep it open. Now, I doubt this wil actually go to SFGAM, but if it is, then I could see how it might fit where Deja vu and Splash Water Falls were. I hope it does, as the last great coaster we got that is still open was Raging Bull. Yes we have S:UF and V2, but while popular with the GP, they aren't great rides. As was with Dark Knight an Evel Kneviel, I see this ride being popular with families, and hated by teenagers. However, that will be good as anything that can keep the teenagers away is good for the park. Now, I still think that this coaster is for Worlds of Fun, but I'll be really happy if it shows up at Six Flags Great America.
  13. I'm going to agree with coaster1, and say that it is probably for Worlds of Fun. Although, it is also just as likely for Magic Mountain.
  14. Are you sure this is on CGA and not Alton Towers? Looking at Google Maps, this office building is also located right next to a highway, and as everyone knows, highways aren't quiet. So, why are they complaining about one noisy neighbor, when they have another one right outside the front door? Also, the park was built in 1976, and I'm sure that the building was built sometime in the last eight years. So, if I were Cedar Fair, I'd try to sue Prudential for lost revenue if they keep this up. Did they just not see the large amusement park behind the property when they decided to build a new office building? One last thing, how is one coaster going to drastically change the noise level coming from a park with eight other coasters? Yes it will be built on the edge of the property, but the park will still make noise regardless of wether-or-not this coaster gets built.
  15. Can you put in sections for rides or general park photos? It is nice to show what coasters a park has, but there are other things to do at a park.
  16. I know, I was just doing some wishful thinking. Goliath(SFoG) and Raging Bull are both under a mile in length, and those are two of B&M's best hypers, so it doesn't need to be a mile long to be great.
  17. It will be soon Sad to see an old stadium go, but I'd rather see it torn down than just left abandoned. I'm surprised it took this long to actually tear it down.
  18. ^I think the CEO did... I'm really excited for the announcement, and I'm going to be upset if it is as short as rcdb says it will be. I doubt it will be anywhere near Beast or SoB in length, but Cedar Fair might surprise me and make it around 6000+ft in length. I know that is unlikely as MF is just over 6000ft long, and a coaster of that length would cost a lot. However, I can see this as a really big coaster, and looking at the blue prints, it looks a lot like Nitro. Since this will be on some hilly terrain, it will probably have some similarities to Phantom's Revenge, and if so, this could be B&M's best hyper coaster.
  19. It looks more like a motocoaster than an aquatrax, and if it is a motocoaster, hopefully it turns out better than the one at Dream World.
  20. Am I the only one who thinks it looks out of place? It is so large, and with it's color scheme, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Even if it is repainted, it will probably still look out of place due to its size. I'd rather see an SLC than this, but I remember reading that Deja vu was sold for a cheap price, so it worked out well for the park.
  21. First there was Beast, then Son of Beast, now ride Cousin of Beast. lol Whatever does get built, I'm sure it will be great as B&M has been building some really good hyper coasters lately. AS for the ride, I'm expecting a cross between Phantom's Revenge, and Behemoth. Hopefully this hyper coaster doesn't get trimmed down a lot like the other ones B&M has built. The one thing that concerns me is the possible name. Mustang doesn't seem like a theme that would go into the area this is going. Sure they could find a way, but a ride named Mustang seems like something that would go in a western themed area, not River Town.(that is the area of the park right?)
  22. ^Enthusiasts do seem to like EK, but our opinions only really matter when we are with the media. Nearly every teenager came off saying "That's gay" or "That sucked." Now, I know SF is trying to appeal to families, but just like the Dark Knight, I think any EK style coaster is going to get a lot of negative reviews.
