Cedar Point (CP) Discussion ThreadPKI Jizzman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Someone was going to post about it eventually from IAAPA. It's just a tweet and I have 0 faith in a random coaster based twitter account. This is fun to watch but I'm not believing anything until I hear it from the park. Even if it is announced for 2018, I still want to return in 2017 for Cedar Point, the waterpark upgrades, beach, local perch/walleye fish fries, and the Drunken Donkey patio.

Six Flags in Saudi ArabiaPKI Jizzman replied to LeoBruz199's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Let's go back a bit: Saudi Arabia is not open to tourism from any nation. It is easier by far to go to North Korea or Cuba than Saudi Arabia for an American or European tourist. It is also, how should we say this, not particularly inviting? Obviously then, this is geared towards a locals market. Why a theme park? Because what else are they going to build? Businesses? Saudis don't work. Here's a fun paper from the Gulf Research Center: http://gulfmigration.eu/media/pubs/exno/GLMM_EN_2014_01.pdf In 2013, 28.4% of Saudi nationals under the age of 30 were unemployed in the nation of Saudi Arabia, including over 60% unemployment among women (who also cannot legally drive). They are given subsidies to make up for the lack of employment, much of which has been handed to foreign nationals because Saudis are either incapable of doing the work physically or mentally, or because they find it beneath them (e.g. service sector positions). There is a desire to change these figures, but it requires a large scale generational shift in attitudes towards existence. So again, why theme parks? Because theme parks are entertainment for unemployed masses living off of a gigantic system of national welfare. Theoretically, the money then gets reinvested in the Saudi economy rather than going elsewhere. That was a very good read. I honestly was not aware of the facts you threw out. Thanks for sharing!

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion ThreadPKI Jizzman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! If they do announce the ride at IAAPA, they're surely going to announce it to the press/media at the same time.

Rank Your Home Park's CoastersPKI Jizzman replied to Imagineer Josh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! For the first 23 years of my life, Kings Island was my home park. 1. Diamondback 2. Beast 3. Banshee 4. Bat/TopGun 5. Flight of Fear 6. Adventure Express 7. Stunt Track 8. Racer 9. Vortex 10. Invertigo 11. Firehawk Kiddie coasters Six Flags Great America has been my home park for the last 2 seasons. It's really hard to rank them because there are 2 great coasters, a ton of good coasters, and a few mediocre coasters. I like Giant Drop, waterpark slides, and Condor more than most coasters there. 1. Goliath 1. Raging Bull (battle of the best first drops!) 1. Batman 2. XFlight 2. V2 2. Viper 2. Eagle 2. Demon (holy shit that drop in the back) 3. Whizzer 3. Dark Knight 3. Superman Curious to see how I like the S&S freespin next year.

Was anyone else at the park to check out the Haunted House? I believe it featured different spooky characters from several movies: mutant toys from Toy Story, Alice and Wonderland, etc. I saw an article about it on one of the news-rumor sites and it looked too good to be true! Nightmare Experiment haunted house looks like it happened: http://www.disneytouristblog.com/halloween-hong-kong-disneyland/ If anyone was there please share your thoughts!

This is a very good question. I would say those IAAPA videos is actually a good example of why we DON'T do things like vlogs or interviews anymore. Just take a look at the difference in views from our interview style IAAPA videos... iaapa1.jpg[/attachment] As you can see, we have to play to our audience, which is not really as interested in interviews as they are more action-packed ride video, which is why we've changed how we do IAAPA coverage over the year. If you're at IAAPA keep an eye our for us. There are some other big media events going on at the same time so we will be in and out of IAAPA quite a bit this year juggling many different things. Totally understand, gotta know what is going to capture your audience and bump up those video complete rates. Can't wait to see the new hotness in a couple of weeks!

Anyone ridden all the RMCs yet?PKI Jizzman replied to kweiss's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Hoping to add Lightning and Storm to my list next year. I have to say it's now been over a year since I've been on Outlaw Run and the withdrawal is real. Goliath is good, but doesn't come close to satisfying after Outlaw.

Is the IAAPA coverage an exception to this? I can say that I watched those videos/interviews all the way through. I feel like you addressed this before and explained that the long form was/wasn't worthwhile. Can't wait to see TPR @ IAAPA!

The B&M Rattle DirectoryPKI Jizzman replied to GwaziBSRider1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! The guy who ranked all of the RMC's after riding one of them in the "Rate the RMC's you've been on thread" also wants an updated B&M rattle list. No surprise here. Please someone bring Mitch's Poll back so we can have only one list of things that matters.

Alton Towers Discussion ThreadPKI Jizzman replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! So about that SW8. Is it planned for 2017? Will it be announced soon? Haven't heard much about it and it crossed my mind.

Photo TR: Random Haunt AdventuresPKI Jizzman replied to azza29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Brilliant photos, thanks for posting along with the review! I've always admired Singapore's unique take on Horror Nights. Seems like there's an endless amount of scary stories to tell. Gotta get there some day!

Kings Island (KI) Discussion ThreadPKI Jizzman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Probably just due to temp change. Wasn't it cold on Saturday and much nicer on Sunday? Also Sunday planet Snoopy is open all day compared to Fri/Sat..

I totally support this, although I doubt much of the content would be "PG-13", haha. I missed the note about the bus as well...the comments people have made are ridiculous and delusional. Having spent 10+ hours on a bus with other TPR members in Texas, I'd happily be on a stolen bus you guys! Snack time, bingo, quality video, jokes..

Kings Island (KI) Discussion ThreadPKI Jizzman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Woweee look at that you can barely see it from the parking lot even with the trees losing their leaves.

Eagle is not near as rough as Hurler, Racer, Beast (on bad days), Mean Streak, Blue Streak, or any Arrow/Vekoma. Maybe it's just me growing up with SoB/Beast etc, but Eagle has never given me a ride to complain about. Sure the helix is bouncy, but not even the last one is bad. I really think SFGAm fans are grasping at straws for things to complain about at the park. But with the height and length it has the potential to be a RMC makeover from another world.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion ThreadPKI Jizzman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! It could be worse. . . It could be the winter of #TheBoat. *Slow....clap..* Whether this project opens in 2017 or not, I think I'll still go back. The waterpark was really fun and the new slides should really round out the park. Although I do wish we would see the drop pods calm down and let classic big speed slides come back.

Never been on a cruise and have only been on small boats to go fishing/around Lake Michigan a handfull of times and I've found myself reading Cruise (Royal Caribbean specifically) blogs a lot recently, haha. Maybe it's because winter is coming, but it seems like you can find really good deals on a cruise vacation. What captured my interested is that so much depends on how old the ship is, where it goes, what's offered on board, the length of the trip, etc. There's so much to learn about for each trip when you're inexperienced/haven't been on a cruise before. That brought me back to this thread to check out all of the past trips that looked like a ton of fun when you have the right group of people! Seriously from what I've seen the entertainment and food game on cruise ships is nothing like what it used to be.
