  1. It started with 4. I believe it even tested with 4. I know they had 5 cars per train to start with but some unforseen event caused them to go with 4. This is why early pictures, I think from the first 1-3 months show the train with 4 cars. Then in late June or July we got the 5th cars per train. It ran like that and with the full 5 cars plus the themeing, the trains rocked. Then of course the wheel came off and then 2 seats were added. Recently I believe the entire red train was off for some months though its back now. However, I got an email from Monty Jasper saying they hope to have it up by seasons end but they are still working on the problem which was called "unforseen".
  2. I dont think Mega Zeph will be demolished. The only parts that need replaced are the ones under water. The rest is completely fine. What really helps it out obviously are the steel supports. No real work should be needed to be done to those except a deep check on the structural integrity and bolts. I really dont think its wise to scrap an entire ride when only 20% of it should need replaced, maybe 30%.
  3. Corkscrew is not a Vekoma, its an Arrow. I know I know, not much difference but there is alot. It broke the record in its day for most inversions. Arrow was always good at staying on the edge...even if they sacrificed some mathematical know how to get there.
  4. I dont get why people cant have this attitude. Why would you avoid Dragster? What if people like to go fast? Its a heck of alot faster than MF. MF seems tame now. And what if you like launching? Too many assumptions... If you hit the park on a Friday, not everything is open. If you go on a Saturday, RUN EARLY. If you get there on a Sunday, everything is open and crowds are generally light. Those are easily the best days to go on.
  5. Thats ridiculous! Im trying to hit 100 this year...sheesh. I feel so...untraveled.
  6. dont think Ill be there now. Im looking to go to Kennywood this weekend and then in two weeks, weather permitting, I want to head up to the Dells to hit up Avalanche and Mt. Olympus. Of course, weather permitting for all of those.
  7. Using my name I got: horny rhino satan Definatly not something Id want to run into. Definatly not me, either LOL
  8. Do you need an entire year to fix the blocking? Or are they only working like 1 person 1 day a week? That might be the case. It doesnt take a rocket surgeon to put it BACK TO THE WAY INTAMIN MADE IT before Disney screwed with the brakes and blocking. Morons.
  9. Anthony "Ditto that" Harrison
  10. Yea, youd think if it wasnt legal that the people at the gate wouldnt let you in with one. Its pretty clear because I always walk in with tripod out and read with camera already on it. They take my pass and swipe it or check for handstamp and Im in. I am checking with the park just to see what the actual policy is but I think you are right about the bored guards. Though thats ridiculous and I would go to GR first before walking out, idiots.
  11. I saw someone at CP with Arrow track around their ankle. Not sure why Arrow, but at least its old school. It did look cool as it twisted around in an endless loop of rotation.
  12. You babies. Theres nothing quite as brisk as riding front seat Dragster while the temps are in the high 40's with a nice breeze from the north (the only direction its allowed to blow since it helps the train over the tower). Good times, good times. Hey, at least that means the park should be DEAD on Friday. Typically it is dead but with weather like that, chances are there will be no one there. Except maybe you, and myself. When are you leaving? I am trying to figure out my plans and Ill meet a TPR person
  13. Im still baffled by people taking pictures inside the park and getting told to stop? Are you in restricted areas? In queue areas? Ive been taking my monster sized tri-pod in all year with no comments made to me except workers/guests alike wanting to see what Im shooting and whats on the card. Maybe Ill try it this Friday or something.
  14. I totally take in my dads huge tripod all the time, no one has said a thing. In most cases I get people asking me to show them my pictures and in some cases, some ask me what editorial or magazine/website I work for. No one has ever said a thing to me and I can only suspect he took pictures in an area he wasnt supposed too. Tripods are allowed and as long as you stay in the normal areas, no one says anything to you. Half my websites photos for CP are turning into nighttime because they look so great. Jeff Putz lives up to his name.
  15. I think its got good forces and some unique twists producing some interesting and unique rotational forces as well. I felt plenty of G's (not in the way of anything like BTR) but enough to know Im pulling about 3 or so. It has some very unique spots to it and the best part of the ride IMO is the transitions in acceleration. Because the ride is fairly small the train acceleration from front to back is quite large. That "whipped" feeling you get from the back of a train is greatly magnified here because of the elements being smaller with smaller transitions. You really get some sudden acceleration on alot of the elements. It has the best actual "Zero G Roll" Ive ever been on or seen. Im quite sure its because of the geometry used on it because it just looks different than all other zero g's so Im pretty sure its the only one like this, aside from maybe Silver Bullet. But you absolutly float through the entire thing, its heavenly. I personally think some people maybe liked it but had to say it sucked so as to not contradict themselves from earlier. Some just genuinly dont like it and others have changed their minds.
  16. Pillar, TFK or some other really good christian rock group should have been there. Oh well. Ill still go to Hershey anytime I can. SR is worth the trip alone.
  17. Happy Birthday to BiCoastal Kid!
  18. But if they are going to replace old units they better come up with a new polycarbonate for the screens. that or replace them like crazy - whichever they prefer
  19. Its still not open but I have heard that this weekend or next it may be open. I do agree, with it down theres really only Raptor and Maggie to ride on Fridays along with Maxair and the houses. Kind of sucks. Ill see, I may be open on the 7th.
  20. Nah, Ghostie is in no way a twister ride. Its a L shaped double out and back. It may have a few twister moments, but the out and back dominates those features. Ive never seen the "twister" in it ever. Ive always thought because of the L shape it was a clever way to fit a HUGE out and back into a smaller area instead of the ultra-classic shape of Shivering Timbers. Its kind of what ST would be if you smashed it down into a smaller area. The off-ride video was good.
  21. They rotate stuff on the menu. When I was there this time last year (opening of HHN 14) there was NO Basalmic Chicken and I was VERY disappointed but still had something very good. Chances are Elissa, your stuff may make its way back on.
  22. Or hes just really well endowed.
  23. That was kind of my initial reaction too, but then I realized it still is in the top 20 'longest wood coasters' in the world, and I think in the top 15 in the US. It's longer than SFMM's Colossus, Timber Wolf, Tonnerre De Zeus, Legend, Villain, Twister, etc, and I consider those all pretty long rides. And it's only 9 feet shorter than Heide Park's Colossos and that also seems like a decent length ride to me too. There is a certain argument to "longer isn't always better...." as proven by the top five "longest coasters in the world" Daidarasaurus, Ultimate, Beast, Son of Beast, Fujiyama. --Robb The ride time isnt very long because it will have a very good dose of momentum. But what its worth, I think another 1000 ft of track could have been mashed in somewhere to give it a more Balder style feel at the end. My only gripe with the ride is the layout. It has no identity. It tries to be an out and back but fails. It then tries to be a twister but I hardly think 3 turns + a helix and couple turns after makes it a twister. GCI's are twisters. I really think they just wanted a record here. It just seems to lack a certain "This is what I was made for" quality aside from that first drop. The beginning looks awesome - who doesnt love repetitious airtime?! But once it turns back it just seems to lose its spirit. I think had more time been spent to actually make the end a twister this thing could be the "Balder/Colossus" killer it should have been. Its not like SFGA doesnt have the money to throw around I cant remember the ride but Ive been on a few rides that try to pass off as a "combo" ride with 2 styles and one style has to dominate the other for it to work. You need either more twister or more airtime. This seems to be perfectly split into 2 sections with neither being more stunning than the other. Though Im sure the first set of hills will be awesomer
  24. This is no match for the Voyage, thats for sure. Still, going to be a great addition to Great Adventure. Im not sure if I dig the switchback section which seems a little like "just trying to get back to station" ish, but meh. The airtime should be good. You are incorrect. GG developed a new way to track their coasters along with new techniques and design. Their designs are far smoother than past designs which helps alot. Their lead ins are slightly longer and the overall package is just WAY more refined than before. I am quite sure they looked into the integrity of their designs considering they have taken a very intense approach to wooden design. From the moment I saw up close pictures of Hades track I knew something was a bit different.
