What is your local park?
Real replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I guess Northwestern Ohio is Mid West...its not really "Eastern" Cedar Point - 55 minutes Geauga Lake - 2 hours Various other obvious Indiana/Ohio/Penn/Mich parks are within 5 hours of me. -

Not this year it wont be, Its going to get its total retracking. http://www.martin-vleminckx.com/mv_en/work_in_progress.htm I cant wait for Villain and Big D to get re-tracked. Big D is going to FLY which means MORE airtime. Weeee. That and Ill be able ti enjoy Villain a bit more because it wont be beating the living daylights out of me.

Geauga is great...Plus all the woodies got (or are supposed) retracked. I personally really like the collection of rides there. I live in northwest Ohio and Im within 4-5 hours of several good parks: Cedar Point Geauga Lake PKI Indiana Beach Holiday World Kennywood Michigans Adventure (ok, so its only got one ride, still, its an amazing ride) I know theres a few more in there too. IB and HW are wooden coaster places , both with extreme top notch rides. PKI, CP and GL have awesome steel coasters with a few good woodies. KEnnywood is just good old fashioned fun. However, being just like disneygurlz2, Ive been to Disney about a dozen times and my family is in the DVC club. My girlfriend is doing an internship down there at the moment so Im also partial to the parks. They are not coaster parks, but still awesome nonetheless. You should hit up both parts of Universal however. The regular side has Mummy and some other great old hits. IOA has the crem-da-la-crem of Inverts IMO, Dueling Dragons. Hulk is good fun and Spiderman is sweet. I personally loved the park. You cant forget Busch Gardens Tampa or Sea World either

Hard to beat my Canon Digital Rebel 300D. I got it on eBay, with warrantee for 650 bucks. About 400 off the shelf price. For that kind of deal I couldnt pass it up. So far Ive taken pictures with Canon, Nikon and Kodak cameras. The Canon cameras blow away everything else for color and sharpness. Even my dads 4mp canon powershot (I think) took some amazing photos and the color was awesome. Of course my 300D is FAR more advanced and takes 6mp pictures and even though its got a automatic mode, its a camera for those who have some camera background or some schooling. Alot to learn but it pays off later. Heres a collection I took last year with my dads: http://www.real-coasters.com/tripreport/MIA/images/mia.html I didnt have to do hardly any tweaking on any of those photographs. Of course on a crystal clear blue sky day, thats a given. But most cameras dont get the sky color just right, this thing nailed it right on.

I went with Hydra even though I probably should have picked Hades. Its a total toss up. Hydra looks freakin sweet but Hades is WOAH. So is Kanonen though...theres actually a nice batch of rides to look forward to this year. Aside from KK which is just a slightly larger ttd, the others are all very unique.

I didnt get to ride opening year, but the trains probably didnt vibrate nearly as much and it IS a better ride the more intense it is. I however, love the hangtime in the loops when the trims are on, but the trains just suck. Ride is smooth, trains blow. I have tried several riding styles all throughout the train and not one keeps me from coming off with sore ears. Its really sad, cause the layouts intense. Its just like the trains are peices of junk now.

Katun... **drooooolll** Worst coaster Ive been on? Well I really havent ridden a ride yet that I wouldnt ride again. There is however one ride I avoid like the plague because it sucks... Very bad exscuse of Swiss Engineering. The trains vibrate and jerk around like its got turrets or something, completely horrid.

Heres what I read: blahblahblahblah going to liseberg blahblahblah everyone will hate me blahblahblah heh, yea, lucky sucker. Well, guess it is one of the few really good rides in that area. Balder looks frickin sweet too for an intamin woodie.

Looks like there may be trims on both little airtime hills. But look on the right side of this picture: http://www.rcdb.com/de/m/ig2905.htm?picture=13 Yea, thats the bunny OFF the base of the tophat. Trims or not, I will still bet theres going to be ample airtime on this ride. I would also imagine itll be pretty intense. Its kind of hard to make a small ride like this, much less a rocket, not intense. Theres just not a whole lot of room for error and when push comes to shove, itll get run through a touch faster. But thats probably why there may be trims, its probably going to haul. Personally, looks like a double thumbs up right now. The entrance to the Barrell roll is SICK! Looking back at entrance !!! http://www.rcdb.com/de/m/ig2905.htm?picture=16

Velcro isnt realiable enough and neither are buttons. Alot of the velcro on my pants are pretty worn out or sucked to begin with. Most button up cargos only are 2 buttons and stuff easily gets between and around them, yes, even glasses. Zippers would be the only true form of securing with a cargo pocket. Plus the angle on most cargo pockets is the same as your leg (duh) which is angled back and downwards. Im one of the season pass holders whos ridden it too many times to report, which doesnt mean a whole lot except that Ive spent alot of time analyzing the system since it never seemed thought out to begin with. Obviously I love the park, but whoever came up with that system did not think it through. I have lost coins and such through cargos but lost not a thing through normal hand pockets. Its like no one actually tested the theory out. Its just not very thought out and its bothersome. Hence why I just make sure no one sees my stuff that way I get no hassle. But what ya gonna do? Pay a dollar to have a locker hold it? heck no! It would never happen because Im sure CP makes a bit off those lockers, but the system down at IOA was freakin awesome. How long do you get the locker free? The first hour or something?

Uh! Denied?! I demand a recount! Ok ok...you guys must have some love for the donkay. Lets see... Gimmie: Uber Designer

I certainly wont disagree with the point about it being crappy. I spent 4 hours just because it took me 4 to get there. But we had awesome rides on it. The ride ops were very generous and we got like 5 click rides. More than enough to be safe (im 6ft tall so my legs prevent it unless my knee breaks and bends backwards...) and in the back seat it was just flying. I would bet if you had alot less room it might not be as stellar. I think we spent 2 hours on ST alone and then the other 2 eating, bathroom and the other rides. Everything was walk on reguardless.

lol come on! You have to be a total crazy person not to enjoy the greatness that is Shivering Timbers. Unless you hate wooden coasters, but still. That ride (along with Cornball) converted me into a wooden coaster fan. So much more to that simple ride than most any other steel coaster out there. It really is the only thing in the park. Worth shooting in there while you are all the way up there. Its better than anything Ive ever ridden so far.

So funky...So funky. Actually, well, it would be close for me. Im highly looking forward to the twistedness that is Hydra. However, Shakira is going to pack a serious punch with 2 vertical drops and the splash down. Immelman wont be that special but still, its going to be pretty intense I imagine. -
Change mine to "Donkeys are NOT ok. Ever."

Well you know at Dollywood they didnt even want it in your pocket!! I kept it secured in my hoodie pouch once, and the other time smashed in my cargo pants pocket. I had it their till we were waiting on the brakes and put it on there. When we came back the dude had another guy come back and scold me like I endangered everyone, ha! Same for CP letting you wear glasses with a strap, but you cant put them in the front pocket. Now, in that sitting position, the pocket down where the glasses would be is pulled taunt. I have plenty of cargo pants with pockets that are NOT safe for stowing items unless you have a strap, yet they will tell me to put my stuff there. Now when I ride and meet people there who havent ridden, I just tell em to put their stuff away before they even see it that way theres no issues. Thats great though that you guys worked with the PR. Lucky bums

How you managed an onride of Thunderhead?! I got yelled at because I had my hat in my hoodie and when we hit the final brakes I put it on. I thought other parks were bad but they seriously have to be the most anal park I have ever come across. Seriously now, do they now know what standard procedure is for "securing loose articles" ? About to watch it...was just wondering, lol.

Dude, going to Michigans Adventure is NOT a bad thing. You MUST go into the park and ride Shivering Timbers, back seat and front (however, I prefer back seat with about a 5 click ride, still safe) it is THE bomb for wooden coasters. Well, I havent been to Holiday world but I still dont think anythings going to come close to the airtime monster it was last fall. Plus normally the park is deader than dead so you can get like a dozen rides in as much time as it takes you to run back into the line and get on again. That sounds like a great trip. Im from Ohio and Im planning something similar...

Dude, I totally forgot about this ride! Looks like the smoothing you and I did really stood the test of time. I was expecting a few of those areas to get some highish laterals but they are actually perfect, up to 0.7, just enough Im sure to sway you in your seat give you that uneasy feeling. Still as smooth as ever too
