Cedar Point removes White Water Landing!
Real replied to Real's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I never ride flumes when Im at parks. I hate walking around in wet clothes. If its that hot outside, I dont go to parks. Period. So its no loss for me. Im going to go up and ride it in my rain jacket just to make sure I remember it. -

^^Ted - However, I do think Raptor for Mill Race was a GOOD decision. ^Magnum - I didnt think we'd see anything new for this year. If we do, its a definite suprise but I had this feeling this was 2007 prep. I just still hope its something really crazy. -

http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun%5Fonline/blog/ Something tells me that taking out White Water Landing is definatly cause for something bigger than just a Screamin Swing...I hope. -
Because people in Canada understand guns and how to use them. Its a known fact that if you raise someone with guns, either teach them yourself how to use them safely and appropiately than chances are very low they will grow up to do anything but use it safely. However, here in America, people own guns "just to have a gun". As if its some "end all" for safety. Chances are fairly decent if someone attacks you, they might have a gun as well. Chances are better that the defendant with the gun has little gun experience and that presents another problem all together. Though, I think the main reason violence is so high is we simply have a higher density of people. There are way more people so naturally, way more shootings. I would still bet that for a percentage, we are the highest but it shouldnt be the numbers that astonish people but the percentages. Numbers will naturally be higher when your population is so huge and diverse. That diversity is a double edged sword. Its both a very good thing while presenting its own problems. Anger is just a serious issue over here. I dont even know to start with the amount of anger that is harbored up by Americans but its out of control. the root of it is really just plain anger but where it comes from is the key. Understanding why people get angry and then why they have to resort to murder is a mystery IMO. You can come to a reason why that person did (like, wife cheats on husband. he flips, kills her or the other man) but to understand exactly why and what triggered him to go to the extreme is a much deeper story. I dont think Media is as much an influence as we think though I would still believe it has an effect. I think alot of it starts right at home within our families.

Without getting into it too much, I bet you caught CP on a bad day / week just as I caught Great America at a bad time. When I was there the grounds were horrible! My girlfriend is a horticulture/floriculture major and she was appauled by the way the grounds were kept at that time. Dead grass all over, tall weeds that need pulled, soil where it shouldnt have been, dead flowers, etc. The lines moved very slowly and the park, while nicely shaded with trees, didnt seem to have a very fun atmosphere. It felt rushed. Which was probably an off day. Id bet the same happened with you at CP. Ive been there in good days / weeks and bad days / weeks. Too many factors go into it. Frankly my last 3 visits to CP sucked. Might not renew my pass unless I see a few things change.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

FoF was CRAZY! Sure, its a bit rough but that finale at the end was insane, I loved it. Italian Job is a good ride. Its not very intense but the back seat serves up some small portions of airtime. Its a great family ride and the transition from airtime to pull up in the water splash is VERY quick. So much so my hands were up and it slammed it down onto our cars mirror and felt like I broke my hand. Still, a "good" ride for what it is. -
Yay for temps that arent hot! The hot weather finally snapped here in Ohio. I just cant stand hot weather for longer than like...3 hours. I get annoyed by sweating profusly especially when all Im doing is standing. For some reason the Northwest corner of OH just is some sort of hold for humidity. Im ALL about the Spring and Fall. 2 best times of the year.

^That sucks and that doesnt suprise me. However, it does look VERY intense. I had (may still have) a POV of it and it felt like it pummeled the camera man holding it. It just looks like a very classic example of CCI engineering something thats far too intense to be kept up at a chain park. Shoot, it has two crazy nearly unbanked fan turns which Im sure tear you up along with some low, fast turns that I bet need lots of care. Sucks. It looks so good too. -

Lets hope. SFM is home to what I consider to be one of the greatest CCI layouts ever. Medusa looks friggin awesome...if only they ran PTC's and not those G-Trains. But still, if it is maintained well, it could be an insane ride. Layout is very, very cool. -
So it's the off-season, now what?

^ So basically it will end up with Robb and Elissa? And maybe Soren? lol -

Mmmm. This I like. Tough competition though, I would be satisfied with a podium finish -
Glad you got on it...its indeed down for good. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/news/ttdstatus.cfm

I must say the first cork into the drop looks far different and acts far different from their standard corks. It actually has a good parabolic shape to it that can be seen as it nears the middle of it, it gets tighter than untightens in radius. Its almost like they modified it just because it had a drop as an exit but never realized that was a PROPER way to do a cork. That whole entire first part looks so smooth and I actually would bet its the smoothest part of the ride. After that you can just tell that the transitions would kill you. So many people complain that Intamin goes "too" prototype but look at Arrow. They had Drachen Fire - Torn down. The Bat - Torn down. X - down for months. Their history is probably worse because so many modifications have been made to their existing rides.

Cedar Point Advice Needed!
Real replied to yourFacex3's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would of said "Avoid Mantis at all cost" I agree. I havent found a single way to ride it without it completely making my ears bleed. Ok, so they dont bleed, but they are very, very red. Defensive, offensive, passive, aggressive, passive aggressive, no matter how I try to ride I come off wishing I hadnt tried. Ive always said, its a superb layout with HORRIBLE trains. They vibrate more than Mean Streak does. -
Very comfy stretchy boxers UPS Tee bout ready for bed. arg.

I can do the color thing now. Its taken some training, but I can do it pretty fast without hesitating...much. The first one should be a corner based on lighting and shadow but Im sure that the actual lighting is based to make it either or. The other two are just natural, cant avoid those. Very cool though, love those things.

Until this latest, and what Montey told me via email as "unforseen" malffunction, it only had something like 8 days of downtime. Now yes, it has gone down for a hour here and there, but they only have something like 8 days of total downtime. It was doing VERY good this season untill this latest episode. However, hopefully this is the last of the "unforseen" malfunctions. Man, I know I have said that before. -
