  1. Speaking of the ECC and ACE trip that went to Japan... Check out this review of Orochi...from an ACE/ECC member no less: John Gerard "Orochi was very similar to Raptor but the final helix went down instead of up, leading to a little more intensity." ?? Last time I checked, Raptors helix did go down. Some coaster enthusiast he is, sheesh. LOL
  2. Umm, no considering its like a 17,000 first car! I was looking at a Mazda6, but the insurance is a bit too high. Shouldnt be too high for a 4cyl 4door car with a body kit. Not like the kit makes it GO any faster. Nor does it make me drive faster. Oh well. Ill just keep holding onto my ever depriciating 99 Alero GL. Last time I checked, Im going to lose about 1500 on a trade-in. Probably be more in a year.
  3. Batman: The Escape is not a B&M ride, it is an Intamin ride. It was designed probably by the guys from B&M (whom I believe worked with Intamin before they seperated) and manufactured by the guys who made the Goliath and Titan. Nice TR. Sadly these wont exist in due time.
  4. http://www.absolutelyreliable.com/2002_09_08_rumorarchive.html Last entry, last paragraph.
  5. I think Black Mamba and The Voyage. Black Mamba will be one of the first incredibly thought out and fleshed out rides in a long time - especially outdoors. The Voyage is the largest venture for the new Gravity Group (obviously former CCI) and in a park that is NO stranger to Discovery Channel, Holiday World. I definatly think the Voyage, while a somewhat typical layout, sports some incredible moments and challenges in building all those tunnels in the terrain of Southern Indiana.
  6. I somehow doubt the rides will all be moved. They are putting it up for sale which means they hope someone will come in, buy it and operate it. Dont get your hopes up for things to be moved.
  7. OMG Go-Karts with helmets? Do those go as fast as I think they go judging by the track and speed?
  8. Well, they said they would only sell if the right buyer came along. It would be foolish then to go ahead and make plans without a for sure sale on the Drop. I think it would be for future expansion and I think that if it doesnt sell this year, they might scrap it next if push comes to shove.
  9. Orbs can easily be created when your camera has a very small pinhole letting light into the flim. Also can be caused by gnats, dust particles and any other small object/mass that reflects or refracts light. It happens quite often and Im not convinced by them.
  10. ^Who would go looking for such a thing?
  11. 2.86 in NW Ohio.
  12. If you go looking for them, yes. If you dont care to interact, then no. So you could say I do and dont. I believe if I tried, I could. But I have no reason to so I have never encountered any such paranormal activity dealing with ghosts.
  13. Cyclone was an amazing ride from the old stories I have read. It wasnt just the double helix that was so forceful, it was the figure-eight under the station that was just unbelievable wicked. Long live Harry Traver...he easily wins the vote for more inovative and daring designer to date.
  14. Sorry I cant size this down... But you need the high quality to actually see the guy on the train. Check out the guy sitting by himself, Row three middle seats. http://www.real-coasters.com/images/gallery/Geauga%20Lake/Dominator/slides/IMG_1542-orig.html
  15. Raptor has to stop sometime. How else do you get people on and off? lol
  16. Jarmor - I have that calendar as well. Its very, very nice. I left it on Thunderhead and Shivering Timbers long after the months were over. Just to gaze at their beauty
  17. The woman mentions "when the raise hits" ha, go figure I found the MASS OT part funniest. Nothing like when the company makes you do something with the knowledge you will get OT and they encourage it. Congrats to the both of you.
  18. Oh, you're so punny Rock.
  19. Yup, he is SoCal. Hydra was SUCH a great ride. I love it. Its doesnt fall into the category of the latest Beemers with milder forces either. Theres even a dose of laterals, strong enough to feel and be moved by them but not enough to hurt on the ride. Not to mention the track does some of the most eff'd up things ever on a ride like that. The Jojo roll was a trip as well. Certainly a unique element with a unique feeling. Great great ride though.
  20. Best - any ride that ends with airtime, laterals or G's. Worst - any ride that has no g-Forces at all. However, I still like Great Bear alot even if the ending is anti-climatic. I havent found a ride yet where the ending totally ruined a ride though.
  21. Well, for people that do live far away, it is impractical unless it was another chart topping ride. We all know that those are few and far between and only a select group of parks even attempts to throw in rides like that. I find it somewhat futile for people like you Robb, whom it would cost quite a bit, to quarrel (you havent really yet, just an example) over the rides greatness or lack there of. Same for me, Im a bit closer but I sure as heck wouldnt drive that distance. So yea, I understand that while enthusiasts may find more joy in certain things (hence the term) than other people, the being more critical side, while natural, seems to contradict the meaning of being an enthusiast. At least to me. Ive been with people (was one myself) who was so critical it takes all the fun out of riding coasters or even talking about them. Guess I look at things in a utopian aspect sometimes...I can still hope.
  22. So much cynicism in the coaster enthusiast world. *sigh* Sometimes I get the feeling that we as enthusiasts dont enjoy coasters nearly as much as the GP. Isnt it supposed to be the other way around?
  23. It is something more of a modified Talon layout, VERY closely modeled after Talon. Of which I see NO straight sections. So you must be looking at the wrong track. All the elements are the same except its a bit taller and they are angled differently.
  24. To accompany Talon, since I dont want it getting lonely, I am also recreationg Hydra. This track is FAR more intricate than Talon. Talon was SIMPLE in comparison. However, this doesnt mean I still wont go at Hydra with the same meticulous detail I do all my work with. It just means it will take longer. However, with Talon now done (track wise) I can start back up on this. Head on over too http://nldc.interfix.net/p209 for more pictures.
  25. Yup, to accompany Hydra so it doesnt feel lonely I will bring back this project I started like a year or 2 ago with Frenzy from CS. This ride was re-built from the ground up over the last couple weeks and all that is left really is to finish from the wingover to the brakes. Then I will support and Frenzy will flesh it out with 3ds. Sorry, no Tyrant. He will have enough work with Hydra and if he wants too, he could re-do Frenzys since Ill just give him the track. But for now, Frenzy gets the honor. Heres a huge teaser: More wingover action Wingover action - this took me days to get right
