  1. Thanks for the words of encouragement! I was signed up for the Midwest Trip but I had to drop out for money reasons. I might not have been able to ride some of the biggies on the trip.
  2. I would love to go to Alton Towers some day. Nemesis looks like the real thing.
  3. I've only been on like 11 wooden coasters so my feelings about Grizzly and other woodies might change once I've experienced more. The newest woodie I've been on was Gwazi which I actually liked. I guess rough wooden coasters don't really bother me at this point.
  4. Tell you friends that there isn't any more room for people to move to Gainesville. I'm actually not too thrilled about their move. My friend's girlfriend is going to grad school and my friend had no interest in leaving Richmond. Oh well, to love, I guess...
  5. Quick little TR... So it's almost June and I still hadn't picked up my Cedar Fair Maxx Pass. So I headed on up I-95 at 4:45 PM to go get it processed and maybe ride a couple of coasters. I got to the park at around 5:10 and looked for the Season Pass processing center but noticed all the windows said "Closed". Not feeling very good about my decision to arrive at the park 45 minutes before it's supposed to close. Luckily, a nice young man called in a favor and I was ready to go. So my fat old self was still stinging from being denied a ride on Apollo's Chariot last week and I was feeling jealous as my usual little coaster buddy had ridden Nitro, El Toro, and Kingda Ka yesterday (Great Adventure is still o n my to-do list). I needed some coaster lovin' but wasn't sure if I'd be able to make the grade (or rather, fit in the seats). SFNE2005's trashing of Grizzly made me misty-eyed for one of my favorites from the 80's. I power-walked (must burn calories) on over to the Old Virginia setting and waited one train for the front row. Not a bad ride but I slinked on to the back row. That was more like it! The ride seemed a little sluggish compared to my ride last summer but it was a good run. And... I fit! Next up was Rebel Yell (my first "big" coaster from when I was a kid) and I heard one of the games ladies saying 15 minutes until the park would close.. Pretty good ride in the back and after reading about John Allen and his designs I have a new appreciation for it. I got off and wasn't sure how much time was left but I waddled across the park to ride Volcano. Knowing how Intamins abhor fat people I got into the queue with feelings of great trepidation. It was a one train wait for the front seat and ...success! After the ride I left KD with dreams of conquering Intamin-heavy Cedar Point by the end of the summer... --Redfoot "25 pounds down since March, 81 more to go" 12
  6. I have some friends that are moving down to Gainesville, and I might visit them in August. I'd be down to meet up. I'd especially love to meet up at Busch Gardens for some Kumba action!
  7. Night rides on Grizzly were a lot better about 15 years ago before Paramount knocked out a rain forest to put up Hurler. I still like Volcano the best in the park though. I still need to get my damn Maxx Pass processed. Anyone want to meet up tomorrow?
  8. Ha--gotta go with Euroburg (just got back a half hour ago). Nothing in the Florida park beats Apollo's Chariot ride-wise (although I think Kumba comes the closest) and I just like the layout and landscaping more.
  9. Although, I've pretty much ridden the ride before (Batwing) I'm looking forward to getting to PKI to ride this on an Ohio trip later this year.
  10. Hmm--that Trip Report sort of made me want to go up and visit SFA. Wild One is fantastic and I still need that Joker's Jinx credit. Yes! I think I will go! Who's with me?
  11. Excellent pics, Jeff! I'm hitting the park tomorrow and am looking forward to Griffon immensely!
  12. Nice report. I'm heading to BG tomorrow. Hopefully on a Tuesday, the lines won't be so bad.
  13. I've only ridden Shockwave (KD) and Georgia Scorcher. I'll let people venture a guess as to which one I liked more. (Hint: It wasn't Shockwave)
  14. It's in my browser history. I just scroll down to it.
  15. I wish my textbooks had had roller coasters in them.
  16. For food, I recommend Ristorante della Piazza in San Marco. Decent Italian dishes and really good desserts.
  17. Nice. Port Aventura is on my top 3 European parks wish list.
  18. Robb wears contacts? You'd think he'd get Lasik just to ride coasters unfettered by anything.
  19. Ha--looks like you had fun. I don't know when I'll ever get back up there but it looks like I can count on you to remind me about what I'm missing.
  20. Ha--nothing says classy quite like a hotel room with its own fly swatter.
  21. Crud--I was about to ask why no Goliath pictures then I realized I was thinking of the wrong Walibi.
  22. Since you're already planning for next year, why not plan for 2009 as well? Do Hershey/Dorney next year with your family. Go for SFGAdv the next.
  23. Hershey looks so fantastic. Is it poor form that I've lived 230 miles away from the park the majority of my life and still haven't visited?
