  1. My wife and I went to KK yesterday (Saturday). If you don't care about the storyline, skip to the asterisks, where I wrote more about general observations. It was our first visit since Storm Chaser opened, and our second visit total. We intentionally made a relaxing day out of it, with no intent to marathon... which we haven't really done for years. Louisville is a short 4 hour job from our STL area home. We got there Friday night, and left Sunday morning, giving ourselves a full day at the park and time to enjoy a couple nights out. We hit rope drop and immediately went on Lightning Run (front), Thunder Run (mid/non-wheel), and Storm Chaser (walk-on mid, intentional due to intensity), which we rode once each. We also hit up Kentucky Flyer, and got a walk-on double front row ride without getting off. What a blast of a little coaster. It was also my first time on Timber Liners, and I really appreciate their comfort. We hit the water park around 1130, which we rarely do, but we thought it looked pretty cool on our first visit. I recommend getting chairs near the far side lazy river and Kentucky Flyer area. It's much more quiet. We rode three slides, hit the lazy rivers up several times, and I got a lot of sun/passed out in my chair quite a bit, which is exactly what I wanted to do. (burned AF, though) After scouting out food locations for a while, the only place we could find somewhat healthy, outside of generic salads, was the taco place. The make-your-own rice bowl was decently healthy. It wasn't as good as Qdoba or Chipotle, but it was good enough. Around 5:00 we changed back to our dry clothes. We grabbed a couple Yuenglings at the open-air water park bar, which I really like. The beer was fresh and cold. We relaxed with our beers until the water park and bar closed. I wanted to ride Kentucky Flyer again, but it wasn't worth the 30+ minute one train operation wait, probably due to the water park clearing out. We hit Wind Chaser, which is very fast. The cycle length was perfect, since we can't tolerate too much spinning. This was our first ARM type of swing ride, and we really liked it. We waited about 30 minutes for Lightning Run, our longest wait of the day by about 15 minutes (low waits due to timing/planning). It could have been a ten minute wait, but the operations sucked. We'd ridden in the front our first ride, but the back was the way to go, with two beers in us. We closed out the trip with Storm Chaser. Still barely feeling our beers, we chose the back, which I didn't think I would ever do again after our first trip. It was violent AF, but it was the best ride I'd had on it, out of our 5 total (ever). We had dubbed it as 'a little too much' on our last trip, liking LR much better, but this trip I was really digging it. We could have ridden more, but we got the exact kind of stress-free experience from the park we wanted. We left at 6, to give us time to get cleaned up and get dinner somewhere nice. ******************** HERE ARE THE THINGS WE NOTED ABOUT KK and LV*************** *The park was incredibly clean, outside of the water park changing rooms, and nothing looked like it needed immediate attention. *Food options were limited and very generic. Although, we didn't get the pretzels, which looked of higher quality, or the cinnamon bread. We're hitting the beach next week and we didn't want to let ourselves go. *Several restaurants and stalls, including the bourbon whatever bar in the water park, were closed. ***OUR ONLY REAL CRITICISM***The staff SUUUUUUUUUCKED, and I mean almost all of them. The majority were not friendly. One Kentucky Flyer control panel operator was laying his head down and closing his eyes after dispatching. The Sky Catcher operator didn't even say the safety spiel. Many of the service staff and ride operators would say absolutely nothing to you, when attending to you, taking your order, or giving you your purchased merchandise. There were only a couple times where we heard something similar to either, "Enjoy your ride," or "How was your ride?" -One the soda stations had three kids working in the area handing out cups, and I still had to reach around and grab my own cup. Later, we saw 5 gathered at the same station. They were blocking the line, referring to each other in racial slurs, and using the worst kinds of profanity. WTF Not exaggerating. We saw this multiple times per day. "Short staffed...?" The kids at the taco place looked irritated we were interrupting them to order food. -I can honestly say they were the worst staff we've ever encountered and I hope it was an off-day. I always felt like an inconvenience. I always felt like I worked harder to be polite (please/thank you) to the staff than they did not. Despite no reciprocation, I still maintained my usual politeness. -Midway through, we just accepted the staff for what it was, and lowered our expectations. I only saw one manager. I thought about pulling a Karen on the kids being completely inappropriate and obnoxious by the drink stand, but I'm sure she's heard enough of it. She's having to deal with the sort of work force climate where anyone with a pulse will have to do. *The offering for families and kids was the most appealing, personally, I've ever seen. It matters way more for us to pay attention to that now, than it did in the past, so that may factor into it. It wasn't just the selection of rides that made it really appealing, but it was the way they were distributed throughout the park. Because of this and the short drive, Kentucky Kingdom will probably be our first family trip when our daughter is old enough, and that will include driving past the Holiday World exit. (sorry HW fanboys) *Patrons weren't smart enough to listen, or use the logic of "seatbelts first; lapbars second." This was crazy on LR, leading to 5 minute dispatches. *There are interesting types at this park. I don't mean to offend anyone, but on both this trip and the last, we've found people from Louisville to be generally rude and less socially inclined. The rudeness is typically not what we've experienced from a lot of traveling in the south. We're usually really friendly and social during our trips, but we stopped making attempts to do so. *2 out of the 3 beer locations open didn't have anyone old enough to serve. Put a cup over the tapper or something to let people know they aren't serving. Common sense. *Did I mention the staff sucked? *There are a ton of trees and foliage. *A lot of the pathways and cut-thru's are really narrow, making you think they're not paths but queues. However, this is because the park seems very immersive and the paths seem to really wrap around all of the attractions nicely, putting all of the rides on display. Everything seemed to be placed very naturally, and until we figured this out, the layout seemed kind of weird. What I mean is don't expect that you have to stay on the main loop or pathways. You can generally just kind of point yourself in the direction you want to go and easily wind yourself around the pathways when you get the formula down. *Herschend seems to have made no distinct impression on the theming, and I don't think they should. *Nothing seemed run down. All of the colors were bright, but they might need to be thinking about refreshing the paint on the ferris wheel in a year or two. It's still on the acceptable side, but it's a prominent visual centerpiece I hope they don't neglect. *Most food options are generic *The out-of-state ticket option is a phenomenal deal. *About half of the rides opened after 12. (staffing, due to 3-5 people on one drink station not doing anything but being obnoxious.) *The lazy river near Kentucky Flyer had no rafts, despite it being awesome. Why? *The area near Storm Chaser still feels incomplete, and the combination of gravel and weeds in plain view under the layout is straight out of the Six Flags playbook. *The parking can be confusing AF during an event, or at least it was with the massive classic car event. *The quirkiness of the crosswalk and pedestrian bridge add to the personality. *The placement of the waterpark in the middle of the park also seems unique, and it blends in so well. It's so enticing in this way we vowed during our first abbreviated trip to hit the water park next time (this time) we visited. *Massive jets landing and taking off, feeling almost close enough to touch, adds even more to the memorable uniqueness, in addition to the already mentioned. Overall, Kentucky Kingdom is somewhere in between a small - midsize park and it does it soooo well. It's clean, quaint, and aside from the Storm Chaser area, extremely cohesive. The small scale flats will always keep me from feeling like I'm in a larger park, but they're blended so well into the environment and there are so many of them. Kentucky Kingdom feels like what a corporate park would feel like, if it were trying not to feel corporate. I'm torn between thinking the park needs one large standout coaster or another family coaster. I think the former would really balance out the park, but the latter would even strengthen the family market, which Kentucky Kingdom's offerings already hit right on the head. Regardless, I can't wait until our daughter is old enough to participate in a couple years. We'll be back.

  2. Granted, PG county is probably the cheapest of the inner DC suburbs to live in, but using a special exemption to get away with paying less than minimum wage feels malicious. They should really be paying at least state minimum wage, though I think for an expensive place like the DC metro area (even if it's cheap-ish by DC standards), they should be paying somewhere around $15/hr. If Six Flags Great Adventure can do it, I don't see what's stopping SFA.

  3. Apparently you haven't experienced the dreaded B&M Rattle. The coaster shakes so violently that it causes extreme discomfort and a strong impulse to post about it on the Internet. It affects 100% of B&M coasters, but only specific seats; specifically, whatever seat the coasterboy was in just now.

  4. I'm anxious to see a map get posted for this event eventually to see where all of these haunts are going to be located. I was at the park this weekend and there was pretty much no visible construction within the park, or in the backstage areas that are visible from inside the park. The only thing that even looked like progress was side of the Nautilus theatre next to the que for Mako had some temporary railings like an entrance, not really set up but just sitting there, and the curtain at the exit to the simulator ride in Wild Artic near the entrance to the exhibit was pulled back a little and there were some spare lumber lying around so who knows. I know there's a lot of space back in the ports of call area and the sea harbor pavilions that I'm sure will get used some how, but I'm interested to see where all these houses and themed bars end up being located.

  5. Congrats on being the only person to guess correctly. I went to Glenwood Caverns last September and loved it. Their main coaster was closed and their kiddie coaster was on a ride rotating schedule so I missed both of those but the main reason for me visiiting there was for the Screamin' Swing off a cliff, Mine Shaft drop ride, alpine coaster (the best one I've done in the US), and the cave tours plus the views and all of those were open. This gives me a legit excuse to go back. The area is beautiful and the drive through Glenwood Canyon just east of here on I-70 is spectacular and a must do. I felt this was already the best theme/amusement park in Colorado by default and this reassures that will continue to be the best one in CO. Aspen is also nearby for anyone that skis or snowboards and Glenwood Caverns is open in the winter, although with limited operations. Glenwood Springs also has the largest hot springs in America that I ran out of time to do so that gives me another reason to go back. The drives from Denver and Utah are beautiful but for anyone that thinks thats too far to drive there are flights into Aspen and Eagle/Vail airports serviced by major airlines that are much closer to here.

  6. I agree that Cupfusion is a WAY better upgrade than I was expecting. Also, now I'm starving after looking at all of your food pictures!!!!

  7. I was at the park yesterday for a couple of hours, RFII had the longest lines I've seen for it since opening year, but I also heard that they were having a problem with one of the trains, so that's understandable. I'm glad to see the park continuing to get plenty of traffic this year, they needed something after how slow it was last year.

  8. This is exactly why parks buy Intamins instead of B&M's. B&M's aren't reliable, and it's why Cedar Fair won't work with them anymore.

  11. Disclaimer: I promise I'm not @LeJebba in disguise. His fascination with Wade Shows defies all comprehension, and his posts including the stock photos of the rides are legendary. Here, you will find actual photos of the rides! So, my group of co-workers (6 in total) were trying to plan some sort of "camaraderie-building" activity, and me being the trip expert that I am, had initially suggested everyone going to Wildwood. For various reasons, that plan fell apart, so we settled on the Delaware State Fair, which was conveniently occurring around the time we were trying to plan for the trip. With my newfound lack of tolerance for alcohol, I go to to play the role of sober-guy on this trip, which was quite a change. After the hour drive to get there, during which my co-workers were already drinking, we arrived. Various people wanted to check out the pig races and petting zoo for some reason, but I wandered the grounds, checking out the variety of food carts/trucks and the rides, of which there were plenty. Most was your standard carnival fare, but they did have some rarer rides, such as an Enterprise and Zipper. I did grab an awesome mac-and-cheese-grilled-cheese from one of the food trucks, sadly of which I did not take a picture nor remember the name. Sadly, most of the group had zero interest in any going on any rides, so while they drank and did whatever, myself and one other guy decided to hit a few of them. First up was "The Haunted" (according to the sign) or "Zombie Apocalypse" (according to their website) their two-trailer dark ride. It contained neither Haunted things nor Zombies. Nothing could compare us for the hilarity that would ensue. Not only were the cars SO incredibly small (us two adults had to wedge ourselves into a car), 90% of the "scares" didn't light up or move, and the rest were pitiful. A Bill Tracy dark ride this was not. 2/10, solely for the comedy factor. Next up was the Pinfari Zyklon, "Super Cyclone," which was the only adult coaster they brought. Notably, none of the trim/block brakes were activating on our ride, so we got a nice quick trip through the course giving some positive Gs on the helices. It also had the most hilariously pointless seat belt arrangement I'd ever seen on a coaster, where they went from the floor to the lap bar on the same exact axis, making them do absolutely nothing. Coaster #174 under my belt. 5/10. We then moved on to the Enterprise. In the back drop, you may notice a close approximation of the space station from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as pointed out to me by my riding buddy, who is a huge Star Trek fan. Other graphics on the backdrop were literal screen captures from other Star Trek shows, I'm told. I guess copyrights don't exist in the carny world? On this ride, they were enforcing two odd rules: One, no single riders...which meant that us two full-grown male-presenting adults were crammed into one car. Two, there was a minimum of 4 riders total (two cars) for them to operate the ride. While you might think this has to do with balancing the wheel, as I did, it clearly was not the case as they loaded us two and the other group into cars with only two empties between us. The cycle was super-short, too - basically as soon as it got to the top angle, it started going back down. Either way, it ran at a good speed, so....6/10? At this point, the rest of the group was drunk/exhausted and wanted to go home, so we called it a night. But, being the good TPRer that I am, I of course snapped pictures of all of the remaining adult rides. Enjoy. And that's all from the fair.

  13. Everyone seems to be assuming losing Wicked Twister means another roller-coaster to replace it. I agree with this statement. The park has been lacking a Larson Loop for a while.

  16. Yep. Six Flags Mexico sits around 8,000 feet. Glenwood Caverns is at about 7,100 feet. Literally all they had to say was "highest looping coaster in the country" and that sounds very marketable. Not sure what they're trying to go for with that drop record lol. Nonetheless this coaster seems totally awesome. I visit Utah often so hopefully a detour out to Glenwood is in the future someday. Good for them!

  17. Oh man, I got to get to Glenwood Caverns now. It's been on my radar for a few years, but this will seal it.

  19. I think what we're saying is that we are not counting the looping coasters that existed and sent craploads of people to the hospital because the loop was improperly designed. So sure, it should maybe say, "World's first looping coaster that won't send you to the hospital", but that doesn't have the same ring.

  20. (OK, these pictures are no good but I had zero plans of writing a trip report or anything... but here we are) So we ended up going Monday instead of Saturday. Every Louisville native we met throughout the weekend gave us a puzzled look at best and a flat out stank eye at worst when they found out we were stopping there, but eh... we had fun. I knew the line-up was stacked with airtime, which is all I really enjoy honestly. I'll try and keep this brief but I tend to ramble on these things. FearFALL (X1) - I'd heard Larson drop towers were pretty good and this thing definitely delivered. I'm pretty much desensitized when it comes to 99.9% of rides at this point but this one had me a little on edge with the fairground aesthetic and feel haha. The tower felt taller than it should have and the drop was stomach-wrenching. I'd put this up there with Falcon's Fury and KI's drop tower as one of my favorites honestly. Lightning Run (X3) - Our first ride was in the front seat and my final 2 rides were in the very back (which I preferred overall). This thing was great... and it's hard to believe more of these were not built. Butter smooth but still wild as hell... it felt like a shrunken down Phantom's Revenge / RMC hybrid with legit ejector airtime. The home park is Carowinds and I'd take this coaster over anything there aside from Fury 325. The first drop in the back seat might be my favorite drop anywhere. Super fun ride. Unfortunately the wait took about an hour the first time because they were only running one train. They tried to add the 2nd, and after about 20 minutes of downtime they finally got the transfer track to move 4 inches to the left before they said "nah, it ain't happenin'" and the maintenance guys just gave up and walked off. Kentucky Flyer (X2) - Nice little family coaster with some legit airtime pops. I've had two somewhat recent hip surgeries this year and one of the hops had me in some pain because I flat out wasn't ready for it and my restraint was laughably loose, but we enjoyed it overall for what it was. T3 (X1) - LOL. I mean, I knew what I was getting into... but even then I feel like I wasn't truly prepared. My morbid curiosity got the best of me. Holy shit this thing is terrible. We waited for the front and the pre-recorded operator spiel said something like "the front row is the most extreme seat on this ride. Please make sure to ride with your back against the seat..." along with other defensive-riding instructions. I told the GF just to skip it when we were about to board because I didn't want to ruin her day. The ride op told me they'd been getting broken / bloody noses from people headbutting the metal handlebars on the restraint... and afterwards I was like "well that makes sense". Absurdly intense, and it felt like the wheels suddenly became square about halfway down the drop. My restraint also tightened so badly my legs were starting to go numb on the break run. Just a laughably terrible coaster all-around as expected, but hey... I did it! Thunder Run (X2) - Sleeper hit of the day by far. I'd heard it was underrated and we ended up loving it. Those PTC restraints were about 2-3 inches off my body and holy crap I was EJECTED every time on those first couple of hills. The track was smooth overall with just the right amount of ruggedness. They clearly take care of it. I guess this is sort of what Hurler was supposed to be. A legitimately good coaster I could ride all day. Storm Chaser (X4) - We got 3 rides in the very front and one in the back; I'm definitely more of a back seat guy but the front was better overall IMO. This was only my 2nd RMC and I knew it would be fairly wild but I was still surprised by just how powerful and violent it felt for it's size. I've had an 11 PM, trim-less, lubed-up ride on Steel Vengeance on a warm summer night and the ejector airtime on this was just as good if not better than that insane SV ride. The first half is freaking awesome in every way; unfortunately everything after the double up over the entrance is almost TOO wild and borderline painful with the absurd airtime, but I loved this coaster overall. And because it's in such a weird spot it was a walk-on all day (I'm sure this is usually the case). I know opinions vary all over on this but I could have (and probably should have) rode it all day. Someone on Reddit mentioned it as feeling "crazy broken intense" and that pretty much sums it up. It was absolutely hauling. Overall impressions - We had fun. The park was absolutely slammed and the layout is odd for sure. It truly does feel like a water park with some rides randomly sprinkled about... the general layout and ride placements felt like a poorly planned out Planet Coaster creation haha. The operations weren't great but I've seen worse. I do love how every single major coaster here has the same standard operating procedure... first drop followed by a stupidly powerful airtime hill that tries it's best to yeet you off of the ride. I'm here for it. I'd be shocked if we ever went again, but it's hard to beat that out-of-state 2-day deal for $40 and I'm intrigued to see what Herschend does with the park. We were glad we stopped by.

  21. To no one's surprise, yes, it was slammed. A gorgeous sunny day outside, so of course the park is heavily attended today! I dropped by for an hour just to get two quick laps on Storm Chaser, and get a certain loaf to take home to family! Entered at noon. It felt like the majority of guests hit up the water park since it's pretty hot outside. I got my two laps on Storm Chaser with very short waits! Since I had just come in from out of town and had junk in my car's trunk, I couldn't stay long. So on my way out, I made a mandatory pit-stop to a newly opened building! A sample of sweet offerings from the new Bluegrass Bakery. And the moment we've all been waiting for. The coveted Herschend-style CINNAMON BREAD! It comes with either classic icing, apple glaze, or a bourbon glaze. I took my lidded loaf home, warmed it back up in the oven for a few minutes and enjoyed that suuuper sweet and soft bread! VERY worth getting! The portion is big enough to share or take home to save.

  22. Yes, but their MO is small unique coasters. Much as I would love it, the way this one is being marketed doesn't seem to fit. I'm going to go with Glenwood Caverns. I can't think of a more challenging park to build on in the U.S.

  23. I actually don´t know myself when Intamin started. I just do know that since the 80´s, their development has more or less exploded! Isnt´t there anyone who has pictures of Power Dive? I would like to see that! And does Z-force mean anything specific? Is it some kind of thing like G-Force or is it just a name?

  24. A couple short stories you might enjoy. Many years ago at Busch Gardens Europe, I was passing by Vikings Fury and the people on it were chanting "Tastes great! Less Filling!" ala the old beer commercial, while they were swinging back and forth. Eventually, a crowd gathered, just watching and laughing. I went to Six Flags over Georgia in high school with the family and the Looping Starship was running while we waited in the ticket line. It spun all the way around once, then again, then hung upside down for several seconds and everybody on the ride got really quiet. Just before it started to drop, one guys yells "oh no, not agaaaaaaaaiiiiiiinnnnnnn!" Cracked up everybody in line. Was kinda sad to see Looping Starship at SFoG go. It had charactor. Anyway, hope the stories are of interest to you and good luck with your info search.

  25. Here is how the rides were listed in the Intamin Ride Catalog both as the Boat and the Space Shuttle.

  26. Aside from (maybe) Hydra's jo-jo roll... 3 seconds of hangtime? Is B&M suddenly making 200-foot tall vertical loops, or are you just misinformed? I would have taken some pictures of Phoenix (Intamin looping starship, I believe) at BGA while I was there, but between my 7-year-old cousin begging me to go with her on Scorpion and my general distaste for being castrated, getting near Phoenix while I was in Timbuktu wasn't among my highest priorities for the day. Also, the camera was either malfunctioning or lost for about half of the trip. Eh.

  27. hahaha, and people complain about Looping Starships restraints???? Come on guys I bet that those Inverter rides never made any success...they are very rare in my opinion...

  28. Maybe that´s Intamins Bounty ride? Pretty much the same. I suppose that Lisberg rebuilt their LSS into a Bounty ride, basically. Did you get my message about adding me?
    1 point
  29. Okay everyone, i can´t start a thread with this content without giving you what i know So for all of you, here´s the Starship we had in Sweden. It opened 1989 and i was a massive success. They added it only 2 years after they introduced Lisebergsbanan. So this was the glory days! I was only 7 years old at the moment so i couldn´t ride. But you bet that i was impressed of it. We didn´t have a ride like this in Sweden at all at the time. They gave it the name "Aerovarvet" which is a little bit hard to translate..but i think that Aero-loop will be the best translation for it! The theme all in all was basically an Airport with this massive Looping Aeroplane. They named it (ofcourse) Liseberg Airways. Anyways. In the first years of operation, the staff where dressed like stewards and when you headed up for the queue you had a sign saying "Gate 1 - Departure" and also a sign over the Exit saying "Arrivals". When you exited the plane, you had to go through a little house with the sign "Customs". Everything was so well themed! This Looping Starship ran a rather unique program. You got three revolutions at quite high speed with no hangtime at all. This gave you the feeling of being weightless. On the last revolution though, you got maaaaassive hangtime! 6-8 seconds in the inverted position was very usual! The lightning was really well done. During the nights, they lit up the cockpit showing the shadows of 2 pilots, and red lights made it look like the engines where real. It also had the red lights on the wingtips and 2 lights on the rearwing that flashed..So in the evening when it went over the tree tops, you could clearly see the flashes from the lights. They also had spotlights that lighted up the passenger compartment. So imagine for yourself how awesome it looked when it made its first revolution and you could hear 50 persons screaming and all this lightning on top if it. Liseberg SADLY rebuilt this ride for the 2002 season into "Kulingen" which is a storm level. They removed the airplane body and the counterweight, resulting in a pirateship looking ride with really massive airtime! Believe it or not, i got totally shocked when i rode it. BUT, it´s not the same as when it was Aerovarvet though. According to Liseberg, they rebuilt it because of lack of popularity. I don´t understand that part...Theres never queue now and when it was Aerovarvet you had to wait at least 1-2 ride cycles. Sadly, i think this ride will go out of time completely very soon. These are all the pictures i could find, i have 2 of myself riding it, but i don´t have any scanner. So, here it is. try to see for yourself how cool themed it was and because of the ride program, maybe you can figure out my love to these rides? And this is what it looks like today. *sighs*. And yes, they still have the same restraint system! I ride this everythime i visit Liseberg and no, they aren´t that bad. Probably the last year of operation. If you compare to the older pictures, you now have an S&S freefall tower in the middle of Lisebergbanans helix! You can see that after 11 years of operation, the shape is still excellent. They really do take care of their rides at Liseberg. And here we have those legendary lapbars! hehe. I don´t know, but these wasn´t that bad as you all say. Maybe they where adjusted in some kind of way? The nice queueline. No, that´s not me that tried to look like a reindeer...The sign with the number two means ofcourse that either 2 coupons or the "ride-pass" is accepted for this ride. There you also have a piece of Lisebergsbanan in the background! Probably during the slow down process of the ride. the text on the rear engine "Se-Upp" means basically two things. "Watch Out" and "Look up" and the point is ofcourse that you have to decide for yourself which one of them it means. Note that on the wing, they had the Liseberg rabbit dressed as a pilot. And also in the black area, note the red light just by the wingtip. I told you this ride was well themed... Here it is with the "new" colours that existed all the way til they rebuilt it. THOSE WHERE THE DAYS! Please note the flight observation tower, in that, they had the ticket control and it was here you met the first steward dressed staff. This is the original colours of Aerovarvet. Looks really nice against the blue sky. For those of you who has visited Liseberg, it was located on top of the mountain inside Liseberg. This gave you a very nice feeling of being hiiiigh above the ground!

  30. You guys are just so kind!!!! I´m stunned over how many helpful people there are in here! hahaha, i actually don´t know much about the US, and the map was kind of funny because now i know approx. where the LSS´s are placed in the USA. I also love the picking between USA and Canada !! You guys are so funny! When i come home tonight, i will try post all the pictures i have of the one we had here in Sweden. I have a couple of pics of it and also, i will give you the story about it...Not that you care, but it makes me feel better I found the commercial yesterday for the Jet Scream back in 1990 when it was new. AWESOME! So cool! I really miss those days when the flat rides was the new thing for the season...Late 80´s and early 90´s. When Liseberg in Sweden opened up and had Top Spin as the new ride for the season. What a revolution that was! I remember that when they opened up (i think it was for the 1993 season), i had the magical length to ride it. So that was the first time i rode Top Spin and the LSS here in Sweden! Please keep on posting pictures and movies ofcourse! Thanks for the Great Adventure history tip..I´ve already found that page and i spent 2 hours reading it over and over again and watching the pictures... Addicted to LSS???weeell...kind of... They are sort of magic right now because i have to go from Sweden to USA to be able to ride it again, which i also WILL DO! No, not all Swedish people are that crazy... Have a good day everyone! Oh, if anyone is interested, i can give you some facts about Lisebergs rides, i.e Balder, Looping Star, Lisebergsbanan..?

  32. Phoenix at Busch Gardens Africa is a pretty well themed Looping Starship (yes, BGA has a few flat rides), and I have a couple of pics from last April: Oh, and Looping Starship, Valleyfair is in the USA, and so is Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens Africa, Carowinds and Six Flags Over Texas. They are spread out all over the eastern half of the united states, and I have placed green dots on the approximate locations of the parks in the United States on this photo: (In case you don't know much of the United States' states.) Pic from nationsonline.org (Photoshopped.) Note the scale in the bottom left corner of the pic in case you don't know how big the USA is.

  33. Yeah, same here. I don't know if I have any pics of it, and if I do it's probably just in the background of Vortex/Skyrider pics. I haven't been on the ride in years. Edit: As I figured, these are the only two pics I have of Jet Scream.

  34. I do miss SFMM's Looping Starship, Z-Force, along with its Enterprise, Reactor (but known as just Enterprise before that). These are the kind of things Shane was talking about when he said Magic Mountain has lost its magic. True, a Batman:The Ride clone is a welcome addition to any park, but it shouldn't be at the expense of other rides, if possible.

  35. Wow, of all the times I have been to Canada's Wonderland and ridden Jet Scream, I can't believe i don't have any photos of it. I'm sure I have some in a box at my parents house somewhere... Anyway, there is some info on Jet Scream here: http://www.pcwjunkies.com/pcw/flatrides/jetscr.htm Personally, I love Jet Scream. It is really thrilling to me to "hang" upside down with "nothing" (visually) preventing you from falling out.

  36. There was one at Astroworld, but it is now underwater where people can go and dive to see it. Not the machinery, but the shuttle pieces.

  37. I love looping starships too! My avatar to the left is the one at King's Dominion (Berserker). Bereserker opened in 1984. I'm glad you made this topic. I always look for pictures of these and never find them! I'm glad to see what Great America's looks like. Berserker is great. I've ridden it twice. I've only seen it have a long line one time. I never have to wait more than one cycle. I love how when you're floating in the air it feels like you'll fall out even with all the restraints! And then being upside down confuses you! Berserker is awesome!

  39. To prevent the "nutcracker" from attacking me on the Phoenix in BGA, I put my hands on my lap when the bottom restraints come down (it will still touch the lap, but not squeeze to death), and lean forward just a little for a notch of room from the upper restraints.

  40. Actually, I enjoy them also! Here is a pic of CGA's..

  41. The only thing that I remember vividly about the Looping Starship at SFGAdv were those #$@! nutcrackers... Talk about restraint overkill! It makes the restraint system on a Huss Fly-Away look like a PTC buzz bar.

  42. As of October, the starship was still bruising ribs/operating.

  43. Steel: It´s because of the massive look of the attraction...It was so nice to ride it when it was full, in the night with all the lights on! And the feeling of being upside down, so high above the ground, for so long...I´ve never seen a LSS going the same program as the one here in Sweden! 4 revolutions in total with extreme hangtime on the last one! The one we had was also so weel themed...i don´t know..i can´t tell you more, i just love them and i don´t think they´re that uncomfortable at all! We had an Vekom Invertigo and that one was NOT comfortable, let me tell you that... But okay, if i get to ride a LSS again, maybe i´ll change my opinion, but i doubt it!

  44. *lol*!!!! You guys are just to funny haha! Vffreak, oh well yeah i do!! Actually, they sadly rebuilt the LSS here in Sweden in 2002, that´s 6 years ago, so i don´t really remember it. They do have the ride left, but without the counterweight and airplane shell and it´s only rocking like a pirate ship, but with higher swings though...They still have the restraint system though and it´s really not that bad (no, i didn´t say that i have the smallest.....in the world). Yeah, ofcourse they tighten really hard before they release a little bit. So they really reminds you of what you have and don´t have down there...but yeah, i do believe that when you´re upside down you feel them yet more! I don´t think that the lap bars are the whorst. I think its the OTSR´s. because they are so short (i don´t know why) and they end up right in your solarplexus. I do still love these rides...They´re so great! The one here in Sweden was awesome themed! Timberskara: Haha, that sounds funny!!! Is Valleyfair in USA? I really would love to work at a Looping Starship! Has anyone in here done that? I would love to know how you control them!! it almost sounds like you´ve been an emplooyee as a ride op on a LSS? Why must it be so far to USA or Canada where they are located?=( BTW; What about Great Adventures Space Shuttle? I can´t find it on their webpage..has they removed it for the 2008 season?
