riccoaster Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I hope your able to pull this through I'd like to see it finished has A lot of potential.
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Ah, that sucks. Well I hope that it all works out for you.
Reon Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Don't worry, everyone. I never said P:W was cancelled. Its just...suspended until I can figure out some definate answers. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on something that wont work, right?
laqueefa Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 http://www.break.com/index/girl_tries_the_human_slingshot.html this looks insane
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I rode a razor scooter down the parking hill at Universal studios...and almost died  BEST.RIDE.EVER.
Mechanic Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 http://www.break.com/index/girl_tries_the_human_slingshot.htmlthis looks insane  ^ That looks like it could kill you.
Chadley Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Ok, the human slingshot looks totally stupid and insane...yet at the same time looks like a blast! Of course, I weigh just a bit more than 100 lbs., (actually 225 lbs.), and I have to believe I'd probably break that bungy cord and they'd be picking pieces of me out of the trees for days!
Duff Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Well that's one way to sell a house. Skip the walking tour. Offer a "coaster tour" of the house instead. Â Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTt0vbRc4qE&index=1&list=FLB6Gww_KoEV_7G8yP4SjkfQ
rcjp Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 ^Yeah I remember seeing that on facebook. It's awesome! (although some transitions look a bit "coat-hangish")
ejot Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 This is the coaster that is in my backyard!  Well, here's that AutoCAD designed woodie re-designed in NL. Personally, I wouldn't mind makin' one of these  Would you guys mind if I modeled my own version of this ride concept, with the hope towards someday actually building it? It would follow the second illustration with "standard" cars that start horizontally before going down the drop, and be downsized to about 10' tall.  I have designed a non-steering, non-articulated car optimized for traversing tight radii in the vertical plane. I'm planning to start building this over the winter, and later retrofit articulated, steering wheel bogies. In the meantime, the ride above would be the perfect test bed for my design.  Here's a render of my car design:
CPmillenia94 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 The radius at the bottom looks too tight.
ejot Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I ran the numbers on the profile I have in mind and it pulls a theoretical max 5.5g. Probably closer to 5 in real life, and only for a split second. I think the radius is a little bigger than the ones shown.
LuminousAphid Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 If I'm being honest, the main issue I see with this... it doesn't look very fun  I mean sure, it would be a fun little novelty, but in reality how much would you actually use this thing? Not trying to be a negative nancy, but thinking practically I don't see it retaining its ride appeal for long. Just something to think about before spending a lot of money.  On the other hand, thinking of some sort of crazy backyard pendulum ride gets my heart racing a bit  edit; e.g. Personal Screamin' Swing
bkwjjm Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 These rides all look pretty cool...and I would ride them. But honestly, I'd be a little terrified. LOL!
KingRCT3 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Has this one been posted yet? That's taking the backyard coasters to a whole new level! Â [fbvideonew]https://www.facebook.com/662858227156869/videos/824969527612404/[/fbvideonew] Â Â This guy also made a few flat rides, including a drop tower!! Â Â Go there and give him a like: Guigui Rides

If I were to get a ride in my backyard, I'd probably choose something along the lines of a zipper, tilt a whirl etc. Something that's got great re rideability, and doesn't take up too much space.
TheCoasterKid211 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Anyone want to make a backyard Superman?
DoinItForTheFame Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Anyone want to make a backyard Superman? Â Not going to lie.. That launch looks pretty impressive!! But the part where you go from rolling backwards, to going back forwards again looks like it would be a little uncomfortable. Â Regardless still awesome!!

That part, along with the launch, almost looked fake
cfc Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I was surprised at how "substantial" the track looked. That being said, I'm not likely to be riding any "backyard coasters."
LuminousAphid Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Anyone want to make a backyard Superman? THAT IS AWESOME! That kid really went flying; I would totally go on this thing no questions asked!
Rill'o'beily Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 That Guigui Rides wild mouse with lifthill  It's amazing but i'm pretty sure we did not need to see bulge and tummy
KingRCT3 Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 ^ Â Here is the Halloween version of his coaster (with a slightly modified layout): Â Â By the way, his coaster can hold up multiple vehicles in automatic mode, has a cool control panel, can manage block system, has friction wheels and pneumatic brakes, a vertical lift/elevator, is completely demountable and transportable... It's frankly impressive! Â The control panel! Just like a B&M (well, close enough): Â The process: Â Sensors: Â Friction wheel: Â Friction brake: Â More pics and videos on Guigui Rides Facebook page.
K1ngdaKa88 Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 That's pretty impressive for a backyard coaster!
canadianparkfan Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I was surprised at how "substantial" the track looked. That being said, I'm not likely to be riding any "backyard coasters." Almost looked like RMC track... Really sketchy RMC track.
