Theme Park hauntings and ghosts

Recommended Posts

The "most frightening" thread in the Random forum got me to wondering if any of you have seen, heard, or witnessed any ghosts or supernatural happenings at theme parks or on rides (Haunted Mansion does NOT count, dorks). I guess urban legends in that regard would qualify too.

Here's the reply that got me to asking:

one time i was at pga and i rode top gun in the front row far right seat and while we were going down the first drop there was a guy standing at the bottom of the hill i yelled and screamed and when we got to the bottom of the hill he went away like just poof and he was gone when i got off my right foot was in pain and then i heard the story about the dude that got his head kicked off on top gun

Anyone else have stories to share from what you've seen, read, or witnessed? (wait, that's the same as seen isn't it? oh well I'll get over it)

I've heard the Disneyland Haunted Mansion unload has "playful" ghosts in it from some of the CM's that worked on it. It kinda seems like a hoax to me, simply because it's so obvious to make up a story that the Haunted Mansion would have real ghosts. But multiple people have said it, so its either an urban legend that the CM's really believe, or there are real spirits.

I heard Pirates of the Carribean at WDW is haunted by some ghost and they have to greet it in the morning.

I'll try to find a link with more info.

I remember that story about PotC, and I found the link

from 'hiddenmickeys.org'

Each day when the cast members arrive at Pirates of the Carribean, they must say hello to George, the resident ghost. If a cast member fails to say hi, or if someone goes on the ride and repeats, "George isn't real," then the ride will break down.

heres the link with the quote and other interesting stories. http://www.hiddenmickeys.org/WDW/MagicKingdom/Secrets/AL/Pirates.html

Personally, I think the only thing haunting SFA is the specter of Death and his brother the phantom of Suck. But that's just me. I'm originally from the Baltimore/DC Metro Area and, in the many times I've been there, have never had a good experience at SFA.

The only haunting I've heard of and believed was the picture of the orb taken at the gates of the Haunted Mansion in WDW. I saw it a long time ago and either it was a real orb or an extremely good Photoshop job. Either way, it looked incredible. Sadly, however, it's been lost to me in the deep bowls of the Internet for quite a long time.

Okay, I found the SFA story, its at

Actually...I LOVE telling this story - Six Flags America is indeed haunted. It starts back when the park first opened as "Wild World" - the property was former farm land (you could call it a plantation) owned by the Hall Family. They were a very prestigious family of the area...in fact, they have a road named for their family just east of the park. Anyway, there is a house on Six Flags property that you can see partially hidden in the woods behind The Wild One. That house is the former, now dilapidated, Hall Manor house. Behind the house (Which is COMPLETELY off-limits to workers...you'll actually be fired if you're caught near it) is a grave...a grave that marks the burial site of Eleanor Hall - the only daughter of the Hall family. Believe it or not, she actually died on her birthday. This occured in the late 1800's and was actually the beginning of the end of the Hall Estate. Her birthday and death date coincide on a date in June...a date where something inevitable goes wrong in the park. Nothing serious usually, just little things like power outages or ride malfunctions. There has been talk of restoring the house to it's former beauty, but for the past many years, SFA has just been building around...careful to shade it from the view of most guests. You really would have a hard time noticing the house unless you were looking for it. Next time you go...check it out - Directly behind the helix of the Wild One just to the right of the Batman Stunt Arena. Another one for the books...and don't even think about asking management for a tour...they flat out divert attention away from the house at all costs. Many of you probably know exactly what I'm talking about.

I know Kings Island has some good stories I will see if I can find them. Also it does not help they have a grave yard out by the parking lot.

You are probably referring to "Tower Johnny". Back in the mid-80's, when the park hosted much rowdier (and more tolerant or drunken behavior) Grad Nights in May, a kid fell to his death on the Eiffel Tower. The story is that he was high or suicidal or something, and back in those days you could actually take the stairs all the way up to the top of the tower. Well, up near the top "Johnny" climbed out into the elevator's path (actually the counter weight) and got whacked in the head, falling and landing on top of the elevator coming up the shaft. The PKI legend is that he still roams the park, particularly out by the graveyard (north parking lot) and in the woods near the Beast.

When I used to work there, stories about TJ would always kick into high gear around Halloween, but I don't think there's ever been an official "sighting" of Johnny! LOL

sfne has a cursed rollercoaster, flashback was vampire, and before that came from Nanhu in china. it if i am corect is one of the boomerangs to strand in the boomerang elment with front and rear cars upturnd.

the story is that in china people belived the ride was cursed so the park dumped it off and then it went to sfkk, where the year before it moved it had the famous upside down insident and then was moved to sfne.

Apparently there is a yellow house at SFOT that is said to be haunted, just before the Titan walkway. The house used to be owned by a family before the park moved in. A girl lived there by the name of Amy (or annie) and she drowned in Johnson Creek which runs through the park. On my last visit I took a good look at it and I though I saw some kind of a faint figure in the window with the curtains open, but I'm still not sure. A couple of hours later I looked again, but this time the curtains were closed half-way. Today I tell myself there could be an explanation, or was it something unexplainable?

Supposedly Dorney Park is haunted. There is a lady in a dress that hangs out by the Antique Carousel or something like that. I have had employees tell me that they have had encounters or some crap. I actually saw the lights on the ride flicker wildly once at night and nobody knew what was going on. I'm sure it was just a malfunction or something, but people started talking about the ghost, so who knows.

^^ The girl heard screaming would be Karen Brown. She is the girl who died on lighting loops. I also think it's B:TR queue not Chiller since B:TR now sits where LL use to, but who knows for. Also seen are ghost in the garden of eatin, former spot of the Haunted House that burnt down and also on the lake.

I have heard that SFA is haunted. By Wild One's helix, theres a decaying mansion hidden in the woods.

I'm pretty sure some SFA fanboy knows the story...

I saw the house this weekend it looked rather creepy all back there...
