J.R.
N'at Man, Borg, Adam and Ellen and I made a quick stop at Camden Park in Huntington, West Virginia on our way home from Holiwood Nights and Rumblefest. It was an interesting diversion to break up the long ride. The park has two NAD woodies, an excellent Whip (smaller 8-tub model), a cool dark ride like Devils' Den at Conneaut, a train with a leaning engine, a heavy metal Caterpillar without the cover, and an interesting clientele. I'll let these few ('cause we didn't stay long) pictures tell the story. -Janna Guess these folks need a sign tellin' 'em to flush the toilet. It ain't like the outhouse out back.... These folks were in the hillbilly band that provided live entertainment on the midway. Big Dipper ride op. More Big Dipper Big Dipper is a fun ride. We were line jumped by an entire tatooed family but were too scared to say anything. I tried to get this guy head on but wasn't fast enough. Believe me, it was horrifying... a whole flap of flesh just hung out of his shirt and wiggled as he walked. One of the coolest things about the park is the sign. jamesdillaman
Wow, I enjoy the emphasis on quality when it comes to the handwritten sign, though. You just don't see that kind of personal touch from six flags or cedar fair. -James Dillaman

larrygator
That Whip really does rock. I was also there on Monday (from 12-1). The ride op on the Tilt-a-Whirl was kind enough to tell me that Car 5 had no brakes and to get in that car for a crazier ride.
robbalvey
Wow. And to think I passed right by this gem several times during my travels and never stopped! Next time, I'm THERE!!! Edited June 22, 2020 by SharkTums

Wanleft
I used to live 10 minutes from Camden Park, but I visited PKI more than Camden just because of what you saw in the pics. Try visiting that place when the "Soggy Bottom Boys" are having a concert.

DerekRx
Like anyone in West Virginia can READ that sign in the bathroom to begin with! Great TR, I'm sorry(?) I missed all the fun. Maybe I'll have to make it a stop next year if I drive to the Con. I better bulk up, stop shaving, and bathing if I want to remotely look like I fit in. Also, no talkin' none, 'cause that'd let thems know I ain't from round those parts.

Rugged One
Yeah, we visited this place two years ago and we still talk about how scary some of the stuff we saw was. Back then nothing said welcome to the park, like the smell of cow crap and the giant rusting ruin of the Thunderbolt Express in front of the parking lot. Oh well, at least they got rid of one of them.

CoasterFanatic
Like anyone in West Virginia can READ that sign in the bathroom to begin with! Derek, be thankful that I can't fly with deadly weapons! nothing said welcome to the park, like the smell of cow crap and the giant rusting ruin of the Thunderbolt Express in front of the parking lot. Showing my age here a little bit, but the Thunderbolt Express was "brand new" and running the last time I visited the park. Too bad it had duct tape holding the launch sled together already. // got that credit!
DerekRx
^you also can't pick up a cell phone and call people, or give out your number to others so we can call you, otherwise you WOULD have been up at the Beer Thread/BACT party central last Friday night! Instead you had to PAY for your beers, and didn't have nearly the awesomeness that we did! HAHA!

TheGreatOne
All right! Camden Park stories! I went in 2002 and I hated their log flume. It was all cattails around the circuit, the water was green and it only splashed on the final drop, and just enough water came up over the front to splash the front rider...me. I had a grey shirt that had green on it. Blech.... On a good note...this park is known for their crazy flat ride cycles. I rode their Spider on a 7-minute cycle, directly followed by the Tilt-A-Whirl for 6-minute cycle. Both rides ran insanely fast; It made me sick, the first time it ever happened. So if anyone is going...make sure to cover ever flat ride...you never know when you'll get an insane ride for the ages. Are Camden's new Larson flyers running yet? -Bryan "Camden's Whip, Spider and Tilter are my favorites anywhere" Wood
