robbalvey
We all know about Tatsu. We've been following the construction updates for months now. Media day was just a couple days ago and it was AWESOME! Today was the rides first day of "public" operation, but something else quite important also happened today. Sky Tower opened for the first time in about six years! This tower has been a landmark attraction since the park opened in 1971 and have been closed to the public since sometime in 2000. It now sports a brand new paint job and it once again letting people view the park from 400 feet up! I've posted three pages of photos with some really amazing shots of Tatsu and the rest of Six Flags Magic Mountain from the top of Sky Tower: http://www.themeparkreview.com/skytower/skytower1.htm I had a REALLY awesome time taking these today. It was just so much fun being back up top Sky Tower again. Seriously, please everyone pay a visit to Sky Tower each time you visit the park. We really don't want to see this landmark attraction close again! Enjoy! --Robb There it is, Tatsu and Sky Tower....together at last! Click the link above to view the rest of the photos! Woah....notice something missing? How long has it been since you've seen this???

apollo210
Good to see the Sky Tower back open. Nice pics as well! Maybe in the empty land they will build coasters 18 (Kingda Ka clome + 10 ft.) 19 ( halfpipe or the letter u coaster as Robb called it in the corolado trip 2005) and 20( Vekoma 11 looper). ECZenith
Aren't they building some kind of huge mall/shopping center in Valencia? That's probably what that is. I remember reading it somewhere. I live on the east coast... why do I know this?
Luxo
YES!!!!! It's the Egg Turn! And why is it called the egg turn? Duh!!! It looks like an EGG!!! A Tatsu Egg!!! Yup, this is what I do when I'm home alone at night...with that said, GIMME SOME CANDY!!!

pkdcoaster
Great pics Robb...man you would think with how fresh everything looks in that area now they would have painted Ninja...that thing STILL looks like crap how long has it been since it had a new paint job if ever? ShoubraStreet74
Those are some amazing photos Robb. Are the lines for Skytower always deserted like in the photos? Is there ever a long wait for it? Anyways, I can't wait for my next trip to SFMM. I've never been on Sky Tower and the views look amazing. ^^ Btw, I know Ninja has become a faded brownish-red color now, but I really don't mind it that much. IMO it looks alot nicer to me now that it's "blended in" with it's surroundings to some extent. The brighter red of the earlier photos look way too bright to me. But that's just my opinion... pvcoasterguy
I'm curious... does anyone know what is down the "stairway of doom?" Is it enclosed, or is it the fire escape?
V2-dude
^ I believe it's the fire escape. Good to see thee tower back open, Tatsu seems to be one of the most popular rides in the park on it's opening day. Can't wait to ride it.

waterviper
Great to see the Skytower is opened up again! Lets hope it stays open! Wow Robb there sure was some sweet exclusiveness going on up in that tower with your camera! But I noticed you excluded Scream in those pics. Was that intentional showing anti-love for Scream? Or did you just not think about it? I also did notice something else when you took those pics of Tatsu. I pretty much did not notice Revy at all! I was so focused on Tatsu Revy was pretty much a backround that I disreguarded! Did this happen to anyone else when they looked at the pics? Guest
I know how you guys feel about the tower opening up. I almost died when I FINALLY got to go up in SFEG's last year. Amazing how they just couldn't maintain them for some reason!

arrowfanman
Jahan is down there somewhere.... Nope...do you think I'd be stupid enough to work when I anticipated those crowds?! Hell no! Actually, I had a conviently scheduled family gathering. I cant wait to get on the Sky Tower next Saturday. On a less-smoggy day, I can see my house from it! -Jahan
rollermonkey
I think the only time I ever went up in Sky Tower was on my first MM trip in '94. Is S:TE taller than Sky Tower?
Hurricane
All I know is that i've now seen a E-Brake on all 3 Intamin LSM Coasters now! Now just to ride it and get a E-brake
robbalvey
I wasn't at the park to see how long the lines were for other rides, but the park was PACKED. I can't imagine that anything had a short line. --Robb "Sitting in Chicago O'Hare on our way to Beech Bend!" Alvey
SFGAm Shock Wave
I'm curious... does anyone know what is down the "stairway of doom?" Is it enclosed, or is it the fire escape? No, it's not the fire escape. Those stairs go down to the lower observation deck, which is still closed and was closed even before Sky Tower went SBNO.
