coasterdave Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Had the chance to attend the Media Day for Holiday World this past Thursday for Coasterfanatics. I will have a full review later up on Ted's site as soon as I finish it, but just wanted to drop afew pics and a short view of the ride. After 43 rides I can say the Voyage does live up to the hype that surrounds the coaster. It is fast and intense. There is some good air time on it and that will increase when the coaster gets broke in. The turn around is just intense and as the day went on, it got even more intense. I can only imagine how it will be at night. The second part of the ride is just plain insane. It all starts as you exit the safety brakes into the triple down and gets out of control by the time you go through the tunnel by the station. Then there is the part where the train blasts straight out of the tunnel into the daylight and into the last part of the ride. I can only wait till Hollywood Nights. Enjoy the Pics guys. GalacticHero Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 That thing looks like a blast!!!javascript:emoticon(':b') How many 90 degree turns does it have...3?
Slacking Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Gobbler Getaway looks like loads of fun!!!!!!!!! Oh Yeah, Voyage looks cool too. Nice pics!
DenDen Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 DEAR LORD! That thing is on crack! I knew this was going to be the coaster to talk about this year, but I didn't think it was going to be THAT intense! WOW!
cgodsey Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 The Voyage is definitely one of the most intense coasters on the planet. Some of the turns you are thinking "that just isn't right!". For just sitting on the train, you come of the ride very exhausted. As for airtime, I dont think you could top it even if you put 3 shivering timbers together. I counted 21 spots of air where my butt left the seat. With several of them lasting close to 3 seconds, I would say there is definitely more than 24 seconds of air on that baby. Get out there and ride it as soon as you can. You will not be disappointed. Chris
the sound Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 That thing looks crazy! All of a sudden, i really wanna go to Holiday World real bad!
nissanskyline1235 Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Man.. That thing FLIES. Looks awesome, can't wait to ride it. --Cody W
MARK Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 LOL I watched the POV, and just shook my head in amazement. I was skeptical at first; that when you have such a long ride it's obviously going to get mediocre at some point, especially with the height of those hills at the end, but it just proved me wrong! It just doesn't let up! Only one word for it: insane!

pianojohn Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 WOW! That looks so amazing. After my first visit to HW last year, I was anxious to return since the park is so well run and everyone was genuinely glad you were there as a guest! I cannot wait until July to take my Voyage! Many thanks for the pics and video clips.
TheGreatOne Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Gobbler Getaway looks like loads of fun!!!!!!!!! Oh Yeah, Voyage looks cool too. Nice pics! I concur, Gobbler Getaway is going to be THE talk-about attratction of 2006!!! I didn't even know HOW to use a turkey caller before! Thanks Granny! It actually does look like a lot of fun...and pretty long, too. It looked like they still have a lot of work to do when I was there. They were still painting, no queues had been installed, etc. Hopefully they'll have it ready for next weekend. -Bryan"I need to go back and ride Voyage again" Wood
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 That thing looks like a blast!!!javascript:emoticon(':b') How many 90 degree turns does it have...3? Atually its 2 but 1 is like 87* or something like that. But i have seen the official POV and it is AwEsOmE!!!!11!!!1!!!!1!11!!1 I soooooooooooo wanna go down there and ride it!
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 O yeah just one more thing. WHY ARE THE MID-COURSES RIGHT ON THE GROUND?!?!?!?! If they had a problem and needed to stop the train there the riders are screwed, it won't make the return trip!
rollermonkey Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Google says it will take me 8 hours 47 minutes to cover the 398 miles between Great Lakes, IL and Santa Claus, IN. I think I can find a faster route. Who thinks I will be making that drive at least once in the next three years?
Jeezus Juice Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 WHY ARE THE MID-COURSES RIGHT ON THE GROUND?!?!?!?! Not sure quite what you mean. The midcourse is just before the triple down... I still have 3 weeks to go until I get my ride. Good to know that the Darkride is up already. Hopefully they can finish the observation deck for Voyage soon! -Don
Noobitizer Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Dude that looks intense, looks like its going to live beyond the hype. Man I really want to take a trip out there now.
