nannerdw Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 I liked when Dolly was like "Hey, little 5-year old girl, you win a giant picture of ME!"
Evenstar Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Dolly was giving out some sweet prizes. It would have been nice to be in the audience. Dreammore is going to have a lot of guests!!!!
maverickpoint Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Is it true that RMC did some work on the Blazing Fury track during the off season ? On the Blazing Fury tour video posted last year , I believe they talked about something like that..
Dollywoodlover20 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Yes that's true. They re tracked it from before the train drop all the way to the end or before the end I'm pretty sure. I hear the added explosion finale is pretty amazing. Any reviews on it?
ernierocker Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) ^It's better than what was there in previous years, but I still prefer the old splashdown finale. The scenes at the end though were definitely a nice touch! In my rides so far this year, I have noticed they are heavily trimming the ride after the first two drops. Anyone else have a similar experience? It wasn't particularly a bad thing as though drops can throw you around a bit, but it seemed to cause an odd pacing to the ride's main roller coaster section. dstephe9 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 I felt the drops are much better and a thousand times smoother than before.. I really enjoy BF now haha I was hiking up in the smokies yesterday and stopped at Dollywood on my way home to eat.. Was there from 5 - 7 and it was great.. The park was dead.. They didn't even open parking past lot C.. I parked on front row of lot B.. Everything was a walk on.. Mainly stopped to eat giant pizza after my hike.. All rides seemed opened.. People where excited BC Dolly had been out and about in the park that day.. People all over where showing picture of her haha.. Hopped on a few rides (Wild Eagle, Mystery Mine, BF) but mostly stopped to walk around and eat. Fun short trip!

I might be wrong but they did smooth it out somehow
ernierocker Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 ^I rode it again today and they didn't trim it nearly as hard and you are right, much smoother ride now! My 4 and 5 year old loved it. Park was extremely crowded today but not as crowded as yesterday evidently. Dollywood set a new all-time attendance record with over 30,000 guests Saturday! I guess there is hope for the park even after tearing out that fountain.
Dollywoodlover20 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I can only imagine what attendance will be like when this "bigger than wild eagle attraction" gets put in Speaking of 2016, TPR's Facebook posted some pics today from the park that showed a bit more of the clearing being done. As you can see Rockin' Roadway yet again was down. I truly feel like this will indeed be its last season.
ernierocker Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 ^It was running. I took that photo right after getting off the ride.
ernierocker Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) Here are the photos I took today of the 2016 construction. The hill on the right (just out of the photo) also has some clearing being done. The footprint is going to be huge! This view should look a bit different later this year! Haul roads are set-up and ready for trucks to move some dirt! From the train you catch the edge of the clearing. Edited May 4, 2015 by ernierocker
Dollywoodlover20 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 So wait, you're telling me this thing is going to be using more than the one hill? Oh my, we are talking bigger than Wild Eagle for sure. I know if this is a launch it could launch and do a lot of action on the mountain top on go in the valley and things, this is going to be another monster.
Vonni Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Its so crazy how much DW has grown in the last few years! The only time I got to visit was in 2001. The only Coaster was Tennessee Tornado! Edit: and of course Blazing Fury
dstephe9 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 ^It was running. I took that photo right after getting off the ride. It was running a few week ago when I was there. I rode it as well.. It was running fine that day [WHITE SMILING FACE] I didn't ride it Friday when I was at the park but it was open when I walked by both times
coasterfreaky Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Just dropping in to provide the link to WBIR’s “Dollywood: A 30 Year Tradition”, as I promised I would. Here’s a link to the half-hour program, in 4 videos: WBIR's "Dollywood: A 30 Year Tradition"

The area opened up by Cas Walkers is much larger that I thought. I am starting to wonder if the car ride could actually coexist with the new attraction especially with how much space they have across the service/trolley road.
Hilltopper39 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Whatever this thing turns out to be it will be nice to have a major attraction on that end of the park. As of now just about everything is located on the other side of the property so this should help revive that area a bit. I have always loved the county fair section so a major coaster should make it that much nicer.
Dollywoodlover20 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 ^^haha I'm on my MacBook and I couldn't really zoom in that much to see people clearly enough, but now that I'm on my phone I can see them.
dstephe9 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I agree, they have plenty of room I think for both rides to remain.. You never know, even if the coaster has to use part of the car ride footprint, it could probably still remain. That might be their intention, its just rumored to close.. But as far as I know Dollywood hasn't said it would close..
ernierocker Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 ^You are a correct. Nothing has been confirmed about the ride closing. I'm starting to root for the ride to stay.
Bobby2889 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 We've been coming to the park for years, we took a ride on rockin roadway today for the first time incase it does end up being removed. I'm with you guys hoping it stays, with a nice update. As for the clearing on the side of the hill, pictures do it no justice, the paths cleared so far look absolutely massive.
beenagins87 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I was at the park with my best friend from 3-Close Saturday, and from open to 5 yesterday and Thunderhead was down the whole time, anyone know why it was down??
ernierocker Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 ^We overheard guests talking about it getting stuck on the lift hill on Sunday morning. They were testing the ride when we rode by it on the train and then had it completely roped off later that day. Probably just a sensor issue or something they need a replacement part for.
dstephe9 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 U don't wanna be stuck on thunderheads lift hill.. It is directly in the sun and usually Bee's at the top (kinda early for bees though) I was stuck on it for 35 - 45 mins a few years ago. Got one of the worse sunburns ever! Haha.. It was a sensor issue then and they finally got it reset and off we went
