tarheel1231 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 ^That is the best hotel pool that I have ever seen.
coasterfreaky Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 DreamMore reasort update #2 Video and pics at link.... Link to Wbir (WBIR-Sevier County) Dollywood's DreamMore Resort is just months away from opening, and officials gave the media a tour on Wednesday to show off the progress. The multimillion dollar project is bringing more than two thousand jobs to Sevier County. "Just the construction piece will bring in more than two thousand jobs to the community," said Amy Owenby, Dollywood Hospitality Vice President. And that's before the resort even opens its doors. "The hotel itself will have about 250 positions and also 30 management positions," Owenby said. The 60-acre resort is located near Dollywood, and will have more than 300 family-friendly rooms. Dolly Parton told 10News last year that she has been dreaming about the DreamMore resort since Dollywood opened 30 years ago. "The 30th anniversary, it just has such a sweet spirit about it," Owenby said. There will be a lot of things for families to do. The resort will have two pools, a lazy river, a splash park, a fitness room, spa, and restaurant. "It's also about those park privileges that we will be releasing later on that connect the resort with the park," said Owenby. The park has released renderings of the outdoor pool area and said progress is right on track. "We are building true to the renderings that we have developed early in this process," Owenby said. Employees expect that the resort will not only benefit families, but Sevier County as a whole. "The businesses in the area are benefiting, retail is benefiting, the national park is," Owenby explained. "Our vision long term is showcasing the Smokey's as an incredible vacation destination for families." No opening date has been set, but employees said they may open up for reservation by spring and open sometime this summer.
Shavethewhales Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 ^^It's a resort pool, they tend to be much nicer than your run of the mill hotel pools. I like that there's a little lazy river thing with it though. Only thing this place is missing is a golf course to go with it. I still think the colors and some of the decor are a bit off, but I really don't care. I'm excited to be able to stay close to the park. Sounds like we'll hear about rates in March.
coasterfreaky Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 DreamMore Resort update #3 Video and pics at link... Link to Wate PIGEON FORGE (WATE) – One of the newest additions to Pigeon Forge is nearing completion. Construction on Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort began last year when officials broke ground. WATE 6 On Your Side got a first look inside DreamMore on Wednesday. It is still an active construction site, but Dollywood officials say it is only a few months from being completed. “It is really exciting to see it getting ready and coming to fruition,” said Amy Owenby, vice president of hospitality. The construction phase alone is adding about 2,000 jobs, and nearly 300 people will work at the completed resort. SLIDESHOW: Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort nearly done It is part of a $300 million investment over the next decade and is a massive project with 307 guest rooms, a spa, pool and lazy river, restaurants and retail. Dollywood officials say it is a one-stop shop. “Our company is just so thrilled to be able to be able to offer this level of accommodations to our guests and to bring more tourism into the Smokies. That’s what it’s about for us,” said Owenby. Their goal is to simplify things for Dollywood patrons by adding park benefits with stays at the resort, but they also say it is going to have an economic benefit, bringing more people to Sevier County and creating more jobs. The construction phase alone is adding about 2,000 jobs, and nearly 300 people will work at the completed resort. Officials say they are hoping to bolster tourism in the area. “It adds maybe another day to their stay here in the area which will benefit a lot of people,” said DreamMore General Manager Kevin Osborn. “We firmly believe that high tide floats all boats, so we’re driving more tourism. The businesses in the area are benefiting. Retail is benefiting. The national park is,” said Owenby. Dollywood officials say it is a one-stop shop. The concrete walls and steel beams might make it hard to imagine what it will look like, but Dollywood officials say it will showcase the beauty of the Smokies and what Dolly Parton loves about her hometown including panoramic mountain views and a three-story window in the lobby area to greet guests as they walk in. Dollywood officials say they will release more next month about the park benefits you can get when you stay at DreamMore resort. Dollywood itself opens for the season March 21.
maverickpoint Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Looks pretty sweet ! What's another month of waiting , right ? Lol

The Gatlinburg Golf Course (public) is located on the other side of Dollywood off Dollywood Lane, so there is that option!

Doesn't make sense for them to build a golf course when there's one so close but seeing as how one of the questions the dreammore website asked about a new golf course , I'm sure they are going to build one.

Big Papa Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Could the Knox on the license plate be hinting at another Boomsday reveal?
jarmor Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 TWO of the SAME...videos LAUNCHED...at coaster events .
dstephe9 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Could the Knox on the license plate be hinting at another Boomsday reveal? I thought Knox on the plate was odd as well but then I just figured they used a marketing company here I kville and just told them to put a license plate on the car.. Another theory is that Knoxville being the closest major city it was more recognizable to people outside of the area.. Like the airport being called Knoxville but actually in Alcoa..
maverickpoint Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 State of emergency in Tennessee. I guess a huge storm is coming. Hopefully its not too bad.
dstephe9 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 About a half of an inch - 1 inch of ice down around Knoxville and pigeon forge.. It hit yesterday around noon.. Further north though was hit by 6 - 10 inches of snow. Half of the area was closed yesterday and sure it will be today as well Nothing like up north in new England but around here we aren't used to this much ice or snow which makes it about as bad as new England lol

You're probably right. If the date on it was Sep 15 then I guess I would think it was more likely.

Another theory is that Knoxville being the closest major city it was more recognizable to people outside of the area.. Like the airport being called Knoxville but actually in Alcoa.. That's a really common practice. Our local airport is called Springfield-Branson National Airport, despite it being over 50 miles from Branson.
dstephe9 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Exactly so I presume that's really why the tag said Knox. But you never know, it could have a hidden meaning somewhere!

dstephe9 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Just a random thought, anyone know why Dollywood has been opening the week after Knox county spring breaks the past few years? Just curious but 80% of east Tennessee students are out for spring break the week BEFORE Dollywood opens starting on the 16th? It happened last year as well.. They will catch the end of sprint break opening on the 21st but if I recall last year they didn't even catch the end of spring break I figured they would want that spring break rush.. Most area college spring breaks are even as early as Next week!

Schools will already be back in session across most of the country. I would figure they would try to hit a June or July opening They will still get a lot of couple vacations.. I know my girlfriend and myself take out vacation during the end of August so that we avoid the " family crowd" but I figured Dollywood was wanting the family crowd Good to know though!
coasterfreaky Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 ^Last I heard they were still shooting for a June or July opening, so that could still happen. I'm assuming they don't feel comfortable about accepting reservations yet for June or July, but they do feel comfortable with August. I would see this as another positive step forward. Imagine a nightmare scenario of having to call people with June or July reservations and have to say "we're not ready to open yet" and dealing with all that mess, no thank you.
DBru Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 So every resort guest is going to get front-of-the-line access? That sounds awful.
DollyWould Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 ^^^From what I understand, the resort guests will all get a Q2Q device, or something similar as a virtual line-waiting system. They won't be able to just walk up to a ride & cut everyone else off immediately. That would be chaos!
