I GOT IT!!

I arrived at Target at around 6 AM to find a line of people already waiting, so I asked hows it going and everyones like, just park and run lol, so i parked and literally ran across the parking lot, passing some people on the way to the line. I would definitly thank those people later, as when time came for tickets to be handed out, there were 28 Wiis, and I was lucky #28 in line! WOO! A few people I met in line were talking afterwards and they were saying how everyone was coaching me to run and all, lol, it was cool, everyone kinda cheered when I got the wii box in my hands since I was the lucky kid who ran lol. Anyway I got home around 8 or so and have been playing since.. or have I?

Let me say this, Nintendo, you are my HERO! Why?? My mom and dad dont touch these things, they dont even touch the old Nintendo, let alone know how to turn on a PS2 or N64 and such. I played for about 30 mins having a BLAST!!! This is seriously the most fun I have had with a video game in a while! At the later end of this 30 mins, mom and dad wonder down and congratulate me on my purchase, and start watching. "Bowling hm? that looks cool... Golf? wow, I can do that, can i try?" Yeah.. my mom is now re-organizing the entire living room around this thing, and theyre down there and can't get enough!! They will be playing this thing later when the whole time Im at work!! "oh yeah i saw something about a fishing game too.." Wait, I buy systems and usually unpack them at home, show them they say that looks cool, i ship it upstairs to my room and thats that. My new Wii? I dont think it will ever leave the living room!!! I dont think im allowed to, as its become the focal point. Kudos, kudos, kudos Nintendo, the Wii is nothing short of amazing in my book. For all the naysayers, if you havent seen enough proof, this story is it. Thanks Nintendo for creating this wonderful machine that I can already see will create many family memories!

^ Great to hear it. What games did you get?

I think the reason why my remote's just eating through the batteries is because I've already logged a full 24 hours playing Zelda not to mention the fact That I already beat Rayman: Raving Rabbids

I just got my wii! I havent gotten any games yet, so I've just been playing the sports disc..so far, I love it! its really easy and I can't wait to play some real games on it!

Has anyone gotten Red Steel yet?

I just got my Wii also! Got to Target at around 5:45 this morning and was about #15 in line. They had around 30 units so I probably could have gotten there a little later but better safe than sorry! We grabbed Super Monkey Ball and a Points card as well (gonna buy Zelda and Bonks Adventure in a few). Super Monkey Balls controlls seem to be a bit wonky when compared to the Wii Sports, but I am assuming it is because it uses the sensor bar for the mini-games more.

Yae!

I got ours too!!! YAY!!!

Got to Target about 7:00 and they announced they had 42 units and would be handing out tickets at 7:30. I was number 24.

Got the Wii, Super Monkey Ball and a Spongebob Game that I think I will return since it doesn't really change much on the Wii and the PS2 version is $10 less.

I'm thinking of either getting ExiteTruck or Zelda instead.

Sucks that I can't play it for 3 weeks since it's our "Family" Christmas present.

Any suggestions???

The guys at our office are very impressed with the tech stuff on Excite Truck. Not sure how good of a game it is, but it does some really cool looking things that are closer to the XBOX 360 tech than the Gamecube.

^ Yeah, the Demo of it looked pretty cool.

Plus Josh LOVES racing games so I think I will just get that instead of Spongebob.

Can't wait for Mario-Party and WarioWare for the Wii!!!

I think I'm going to get Call of Duty 3 for myself too. Love the other ones.

Ugh, my parent's refused to take me out to Target this morning. I must be the only person on this site without a Wii now...

I really think it's because they tried to do too much in too little of development time.

The guys in our studio who have been working with the Wii for about a year now said the best approach at the moment is to come up with one thing that the controller can do really well, prefect that, then move onto the next thing.

Wii Sports did that really well, but Monkey Ball just seems to try so many different actions that it can't even get the main game action to work well.

I think the biggest mistake they made was not letting you hold the controller turned 90 degrees like Tony Hawk Downhill Jam does. That works SO WELL and I just don't understand why Monkey Ball didn't include an option like that as well.

OK, so has anyone else played Monkey Ball a bit more? Elissa and I sat down and really tried to play it more tonight and my god is it a steaming pile of CRAP!

The main game is "ok" - but it's new feature, the 50 mini-games, some of them are almost totally unplayable. It just shocks me, being in game development, that Sega let some of those pass.

I would not reccomend this game at all! Has anyone else had similar frustrations playing the mini games? Most notabley games like the one where you have to catch the falling bananas, the disc golfing, fish catching, etc, etc....anytime you have to go into the Z-Axis seems to completely fail.

Anyway, on a positive side, seeing that they have adopted a version of "T9Word" into their email system is pretty freaking awesome!!!

We actually enjoyed playing Monkey Ball, though I'm a bit let down that they took out "Challenge Mode" where 2 or more players played the main levels. Monkey Darts was pretty fun as I found out that I"m more accurate holding the remote like a dart. I also wish that my favorite party game, Monkey Target, had more types of targets to land on...like SMB2 for the Cube. Lastly, my friend and I did the game where you hurl the ball to see how far it goes and we actually spun like the monkey did...and it worked. Dizzy, yes...Success? Definitely...100 Meters or however far it measures....I just saw 100. The end-result was falling over and onto the couch while feeling sick to our stomachs and laughing.

^ So you haven't had any problems with any of the mini games? The disc one, for example just worked like crap for us. To the point where the damn arrow wasn't even following where we wanted it to go, and then it would turn black. The whole mini game part seemed to be hit and miss, with most of them being a "miss"

I couldn't figure out the Disc golf one actually...mainly because I didn't read the instructions but for the mst part, the games worked fine (Like tight rope walk, darts, fish stabbing, monkey race and so on.) *Loads up "Monkey Balls" to test out some mini games again...* Ok, the aiming on Disc Golf's a bit overly sensitive...otherwise, I'm having no issues playing it. I just made a video clip of me attempting Frisbee Golf, slapping the arrow around and then Fish Stabbing. Posting on You Tube for you guys to see how poorly I handle Frisbee Golf and then Jabing fish up their butts with a pitchfork. I will post the link when it's done processing.

Has anyone here traveled with their Wii yet? I was just wondering because I want to take it with me when we travel during christmas. Is it better to pack it as a carry on or check it?

There is a Wii sling bag that you could buy and put it in.

Always a smart thing NOT to check anything you care about losing.

In other words, if you want to see it when you land, carry it.

I took mine from LAX to Florida, then onto a cruise ship, and back again!

It never left my sight! I packed it back in its original packaging which kept it very safe and it fit snuggly in my carryon bag.

Hope this helps!

I saw a Wii on display and it looked really cool. Not cool enough for me to want one for Christmas though. An XBOX 360 is all I want.

Can someone explain to me how you're supposed to aim in Tennis (in Wii Sports)? I was doing Fitness and I totally could not aim where I hit. I looked in the instruction manual, but that diagram just confused me more. HELP!! My Fitness Age today was 65.

How did ANY of you land one of these systems?

My kids at work raised the funds for a system and four games, but do you tink I can find one in Salem Oregon? hells no! Any tips or tricks I might use to snag a Wii?

^ There's alot of helpful info in this thread, skim back a few pages. It seems like most people called their local Targets, Wal Marts, or whatevers and asked when the next shipments were coming in and when they were planning on selling them.
