Bush985 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I'm going to camp out at Best Buy. I dont plan on keeping mine though, I'm hoping the demand will be very high as previous systems and possibly sell mine upwards of $600+ -RD
Wes Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 ^ It won't be. Nintendo expects to ship 4 million by Christmas. I'm going to head down to my local Target a couple hours before. They're getting 120, so I don't think I'll have an issue getting one.
MiamiBoii4392 Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 So...will you put that sensor bar on top or underneath your television ? .....I believe the cord is only three feet long........ Actually, I've read from IGN, that the cord will be 10 feet long.
kk_slider11290 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I'm really doubting that standing in line all night will be necessary, one of the targets in my area is supposed to have 81 wii's
Homer Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I'll admit, I am still waiting for Wii kiosks to pop up in stores before I buy one. That, and I'll wait until next year when Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Sonic and the Secret Rings are released. I'm trading in my Gamecube and some DS games soon to save money. I'm keeping my GCN stuff though.
tacoking Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Actually, I've read from IGN, that the cord will be 10 feet long. Maybe Nintendo has changed it since, but I read on IGN as well (Matt C's blog I think) that the cord is only three feet. But, again, maybe Nintendo has increased that since.
Slacking Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I got a little bad news today, my store (Wii-Mart) is only getting 29 Wiis for launch. It sounds like enough a few weeks ago, but now it's getting close and people are asking about it. I'm not gonna wait in a line for a day, I just plan on getting there around midnight on Sat. so I might not get one. I think I will call, or maybe I'll "misplace" a case of them just to be sure, although I hear that is frowned upon. Oh well I know if I don't get one, I can still get it as soon as the next shipment drops, I'll be right there to snag one up. I still don't know how many PS3s we are gonna get, Sony hasn't let us know yet, but I'm sure it's not many, my guess is 2 cases of $600. and 1 case of $500. Maybe I can "misplace" a case of those too, I need my Christmas $$, via Ebay! Although it's highly unlikely. How many in a case (for the PS3's)? Depending on how many are in a case, I would guess your guess may be a bit on the high side. As for the Wii..... I can't wait! I may have to freeze myself! I just need to figure out what 2-4 games I'm gonna buy.
Florida420 Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 My guess, although I haven't seen the cases yet, is 2 PS3s per case. That's how the 360s are packed and the PS3 box is a bit bigger than that. Although they did send us our "waiting in line " numbered tickets today for PS3 and they sent us 50 for each version I think their wishful thinking is waaaayyyyy off, considering we still don't know how many we are getting. We are supposed to get are interactive PS3 display tomorrow, which will be the only time I will play one. But sadly no playable Wii yet, since we currently have no Nintendo rep for our district, still
SharkTums Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I've played both at Robb's office....I love the Wii!!! In fact, we will have two of them by next Sunday...Mwa haha!!!! I didn't think it was possible to make a game system uglier and heavier than the Xbox 360 but Sony sure did! Seriously though, for me it's always been about the games or something cool. The Nintendo offers both of those things. I've really never been into Sony or Xbox games with the exception of Katamari and the Drum Game. Nintendo makes games I actually want to play, and now they're taking the piece of technology I really enjoyed from Wario Ware Twisted and modding that out too!
Slacking Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Elissa, I'm the same way. Nintendo has always made what I've enjoyed, so I've always stuck with them. I just can't get into the Sony and Microsoft products. I'm so addicted to my DS right now (Elite Beat Agents is genius!) it's kinda scary. Ok, when I think of cases, I think of larger quantities. But 4-6 PS3's per store sounds about right.
Angry_Gumball Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I'm probably gonna wait a bit after the Wii-lease and probably pick it up at my local... Ok...I got bored...
Freefallbestrideever Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Right now the plan is buy a few PS3s, sell them on ebay and buy a Wii
Florida420 Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 here's some pics of the Wii getting ready to ship, if your in to that sort of thing. http://wii.ign.com/articles/744/744935p1.html It looks like alot, but too bad it wont be enough I came to the realization, that I probably wont get one at launch, unless I wait after I get off work. Which I'm not gonna do, after 9 hours of working there, I don't wanna spend another 7 hours waiting there.
Movieguy Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I have a very patient strategy when it comes to game systems...I never buy one at the launch. I always wait a while to see how a system's doing, before I make any judgements. And like Elissa, I've always been about the games themselves. I really don't really care how pretty the graphics can be, if it doesn't come with a game that has a lot of replay value. The Wii...it looks promising, so my outlook on that is a cautiously optimistic one. PS3? I'm sorry, but to me, 600 bucks is way too much for a gaming system. Sony is moving itself into dangerous territory...3DO and CDI Territory. And I feel compelled to make the following analogy: Blu-Ray = Betamax That is all...
Florida420 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I just got my "waiting in line" numbered tickets for the Wii today, there are 50 of them as well, pretty sure we're not gonna get that many. So far I only know about the 30 or so and by the looks of the cases in those pics, it looks like about 6 to a case, so I'll probably get 5 cases. Unless of course it's 5 to a case then it will be 6 cases, or maybe 4 to a case and then......oh never mind, you get it It also came with a Wii shopping checklist, for the customers, so we can get every dollar Wii can. It's got some games, accessories, but what I found funny was the recommendations, can you guess what they are? .......... AA batteries (non-rechargeable) Seriously? They can't throw in a set of official Nintendo AAs?? Maybe you get a set, but they recommend you pick up some more cuz you'll be playing so much. But I'm pretty sure, in the stuff I've read, you don't get them. Plus the box contents doesn't list them. I thought I heard Perrin Kaplan and Reggie say that the Wii comes with everything you need to play, right out of the box. I guess not everything. Oh well, it's a good thing I already have some at home, that'll save me 4 bucks. Why non-rechargeable?? Oh I just go this, I didn't watch it yet so don't blame me if it sucks. http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200611/N06.1109.1627.33242.htm Wii promo disc
Florida420 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Ok I take back everything I said about the batteries. I see 'um sorry Reggie
overlord Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 So neatly packed....Oh man I cant wait the 7 more days! What do you guys think I should get from the following list rating them from important to unimportant? Call of Duty 3 NFS: Carbon Steering Wheel Wii Organization Center Extra Nunchuck Extra Remote Recharge Station
tacoking Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Don't get the steering wheel. That is such a waste of money.
Gav Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Im probably the only one, but is anyone else hoping a cricket game gets relased on this sometime in the future. That is one sport that will translate well onto the Wii.
overlord Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 ^Even though its an odd concept, I can definately see one coming out. Like every other game, the controllers would make it great gameplay. I wouldnt mind testing it out if there was a game of crickett.
Jeezus Juice Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I'm waiting for a Ninja game to be announced...then you could user the nunchacku like a...well...a nunchaku! Hai-yaa!! :ninja: -Don
GMAN962 Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I've played both at Robb's office....I love the Wii!!! In fact, we will have two of them by next Sunday...Mwa haha!!!! I didn't think it was possible to make a game system uglier and heavier than the Xbox 360 but Sony sure did! Seriously though, for me it's always been about the games or something cool. Nintendo makes games I actually want to play, and now they're taking the piece of technology I really enjoyed from Wario Ware Twisted and modding that out too! Lucky.....I ALMOST played a Wii today. My local EB Games had their Kiosk up, and they had just got their controller in. They were having problems with it starting up tho prough. The Wii should be a little but glitchy right when your setting it up, but after some fiddling, it should be better. I was angry that I could not play it today, but I at least got to hold the controller and play with it . (excluding the nun chuck) The controller is very ergonomic. It's very comfortable. I must agree that the Wii is the best looking of all systems. Especially now that I've seen it in person. Wii is gonna rock! Too bad I can't get it on release..... ~Mike
Angry_Gumball Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Closest I got to the Wii was holding the rubber grips/protectors for the Wii Remote that the store was selling.
Florida420 Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I feel a little bit better, I just found out, today that we are going to get in 60 Wiis So I should be able to get mine a launch with out waiting all night and just going up at midnight. On another note we are only getting in 11 PS3s, 6 @ $600. and 5 @ $500. there goes my eBay plan, I definitely aint getting one of those at launch. We still don't have our playable PS3 yet, but I did get to play one at Target over the weekend, the choices are NBA 07 or Motorstorm, yippie Motorstorm was OK NBA, well .... The whole PS3 experience was just, meh,
