Walt Disney World Disney's Animal Kingdom Discussion Thread

p. 74: Tropical Americas land announced!

^They should offer and "Yak & Yeti/Dinosaur Combo Package" just for Dave--ERT on both!

They have no concept of how much money they'd get from me if they actually offered this.

dt

What if Dave could eat food from Yak and Yeti WHILE riding Dinosaur?!?!

I may the only person who did not see Avatar and had no interest in it. I was the same way with Cars Land. Could not get into the movie but LOVE the land at Disneyland.

However this new section at the park seems really neat and I am excited to see it be built and visit.

This is my thought exactly. I did not see the film and I have no interest in it... BUT... if they actually create an area or attraction that is compelling, fun, and interesting, why does it even matter? To me, it would be just like getting an "original" area because the first time I would be exposed to the property is by visiting the land.

And let's be honest, Animal Kingdom NEEDS *something*.... *anything* ... so if they are building a new area where they are obviously spending hundreds of millions, I welcome that!

Unless it opens and it becomes another Potterland where you HAVE to see the movies in order to even have a clue what is going on... But I'm hopeful!

^From what I've seen, there's been some hinting at, but no official comment regarding the attractions to be built. For example, this snippet from the groundbreaking announcement:

Guests will experience the wonders of Pandora when they fly with banshees and explore a rich natural environment with mountains that float and interactive plants that glow at night.

Just rumors so far that suggest a new, more dynamic Soarin' style attraction, and a boat ride. The boat ride one comes directly from art that was released, however this could just be a boat in the parks water way that already exists for all we know, or could be just art an will never be an attraction.

Thank you.

I find it kinda odd that they are not promoting what new attractions are coming to build up excitement for them.

Universal announced Diagon Alley before they announced the rides going into it I believe. I'm not even sure Disney knows exactly what rides are going into Pandora yet.

They will slowly trickle out info to keep momentum going, like with Shanghai Disneyland. If this were similar to the DCA re-do (where it was an explosion of info all at once) it would lose steam because none of this will open for a very long time. DCA (and actually New Fantasyland) both had a long roll out of things to come, where this will just open as a whole.

This is just my opinion.

I agree with Chris. Why announce everything at once, when you can stretch out the anticipation and interest over a longer period?

This is called..."going back to the old PR days". Before the www, companies like Disney had it easier with a lot more control over public information on a new attraction. I guess they're figuring out how to get back to that concept, and avoiding the leaks that may happen, one way or the other, with the net. Rumors will still persist, and not-quite-right info.will still be posted.

But I think the released art work for Avatar is just right.

I mean, it's another four years, hmm?

Patience. And good for them, doing it this way.

^I can't tell if you're being serious or not?

Of course I can get a coke in Cars Land and at Be Our Guest. Sure they have specialty drinks, but they're also not as insane as JK Rowling and demand that ONLY her crap can be sold.
