Hello local Knobel goers,

My cousin and I have a trip planned for June 10-11 to hit Knoebles, Hershey, then head to Dorney to sleep and hit Dorney and Coney Island on the way home to LI.

I know that Knobles has been voted best food (or close to it) in many polls... We plan on hitting the three woodies first thing, grab lunch at the park and head to Hershey for the remainder of the day.

Here's where I need help where is your favorite place to eat lunch in the park?

The two places I reccomend are the Alamo Restaurant and Cesari's Pizza. The Alamo is a indoor sit-down restaurant that isn't too expensive, but their serving sizes in the dishes are pretty big for their price. Plus it is air-conditioned making it a perfect place to cool off.

As for Cesari's, they do have some unique pizza flavors, but my favorite is the white broccoli. Pair that with some tri-taters or perogies from a nearby stand and you have a pretty nice meal.

Phoenix Junction Steakhouse is also a great place to eat with different types of burgers and items to choose from.

Another place that I've heard that is good would be the International Food Court, which has a wide range of unique food items from all over the world.

As for doing half a day at Knoebels and the other at Hershey, I really think you would need full day at each park to get the full expeience. Knoebels has quite a bit more unique things to do than just the coasters: the bumper cars are awesome, the two haunted attractions are good as well, and the train rides are the same. For Hershey, there are twelve coasters, Chocolate World nearby, and a bunch of other flat rides and if there is a concert on the day you visit, you might not have the time to get on everything you want to.

But if you have been to both of these place before, then go for it. If not, then I highly advise doing a full day at Knoebels and a full day at Hershey.

EDIT: Can't wait to get some of that tomorrow (makes me hungry thinking about it now)!

I'd agree that being at each of those parks for a whole day (as well as just being there at night) is well worth it, though I'm not necessarily saying to cut one out if you can't.

I was going to say that the white broccoli pizza seems pretty famous. Cesari's isn't personally my favorite pizza, but I certainly have no reason to recommend against it. Oh yeah, and try the birch beer!

If you are used to good NY pizza, you might not be happy with Cesari's. It's better than most parks and most places in Pennsylvania. It's good but not great. I generally like getting the unique treats at the park that don't typically see, especially the ones at Totem Treats (Fried cheese on a stick, corn nuggets) or the pierogies.

I know your time is probably limited but you will not get the full Knoebels experience in half a day, and you also might need a full day at Hershey just to get all the credits in.

Honestly, my favorite thing to eat there is probably the alligator bites in the International Food Court; they taste like a mix between chicken and scallops. (Get some white birch beer, too; I live in central NY and I only found one place up here that sells birch beer, which I'm not sure they do anymore.)

Thank you everyone!

Both Nick and I are runners, and tend to find ourselves quite good at cutting travel time between rides down quite far (the last time we went to SFGAsv in May on a Friday we hit GL, SUF, ET, RT (both sides), Bizzaro, and the mine train all before noon). Although I would love to spend more time at Knoebels, we have plans of spending more time at Hershey (which will be open until 10, on a Tuesday the week before HS finals).

We definitely plan on taking out time at knoebels the next time we plan this trip!

I think Cesari's is over rated but I am a huge fan on the bbq sandwiches in the middle of the park. The Ice Cream waffle sandwiches are also good.

Did anyone happen to go to Opening day? I just read a report from another site about the work done to Phoenix and Twister. I had no idea Twister had all that work done. I love to hear if the drop is really that different.

I was there and I can say that both Phoenix and Twister got quite a bit of retracking done that made quite a bit of difference than from last year.

For Twister, they went down to the supports and retracked all layers of wood on the first drop and hill. A section of the first part of the helix was retracked as well. The result was one of the best rides I've had on that thing in years.

As for Phoenix, the complete 2nd turn was retracked, which seem to make the trains feel a little faster through the rest of the ride.

On a sidenote, Flying Turns was open with three trains and had a 90 minute wait all day. It was a great ride and one of the smoothest bobsled coasters I've ridden. It doesn't do a lot of banging going into the brake or lift sections and the main section gave a pretty out-of-control experience. I think it is a perfect fit for their coaster collection and a great ride of the family. I am kind of amazed at how their loading system works as it is pretty high-tech compared to what Knoebels has.

Also, Power Surge is in the picnic area in pieces for a rehabbing process.

I have a few photos from Saturday that I'll post when I get the chance.

I too was there on Saturday, and agree the Phoenix's work done add the ride seem faster (if that's even possible!) the work done on Twister to me, was OK, but it really wasn't the parts of the ride they should have been working on. Still beat the crap out of me, and while a slightly better ride than years past, it still didn't want to make me re-ride it.

Didn't go on Flying Turns this year bc I rode it last year during PPP.

I'll post some pictures when I get home from work today.

I was there Saturday and it was a great day.My first ride on Phoenix was a little slow but later on in the day it sure was flying, just needed a little time to get out of hibernation I suppose. My only ride on Twister was early too and it gave a great ride, I'm sure it got better as the day went on like phoenix did. The real winner of the day was the flyers, a good breeze all day had those going crazy, I even managed to clip a tree brach on one ride . Overall it was just fantastic to be back at Knoebels and I will be going back next weekend and can't wait.

I love hearing that Phoenix is running great. Not that I really noticed any difference last year. I guess Twister is still a hit or a miss. It sounds like the retracking helped a little. I can't wait to get back to Knoebels this August.

I've always thought Twister was an awesome, highly underrated ride. It perfectly walks the fine line between being completely out of control and relentless and being rough. I find it re-rideable but still completely insane, and I love the fact that it's at Knoebels because I'm sure they'll make sure it stays that way without crossing that line and turning into a rough coaster like it probably would at most other parks.

I am totally with you! Its one of my favorite wooden coasters.

I usually give Twister a "courtesy ride" every year. I'd much rather spend my time on Phoenix. And eating.

I ate so much this past weekend at Knoebels, and I know that there is some food that people have mentioned on here that I just didn't find yet. My goal was to try new to me foods at Knoebels and I succeeded.

Yes, it's taken me 12 years to go ride this, but it was fun! And I didn't feel nauseous afterward so *yay*

Doesn't this look like a wonderful place for a coaster in 2015?

I hope it's not a long term process! I love Power Surge, and would hate to miss out on it when I get there in a couple months.

I actually think that building Impulse over the water would be flipping awesome.

I saw on Knoebel's Facebook a picture of some kind of kiddie ride being built, one with a circular platform and horse drawn carriage cars. I heard it is by the boat ride but I'm not sure. It didn't look like it was done so not sure if it's operational.

Anyone here have pictures of this new kiddie ride?

Looks like Knoebel's put something up already for this new kiddie ride:

Interesting though to note, when you look on the What's New section of the park there's a section called New for 2015 with a (2) next to it. When you click on it you just get the computer generated models of Impulse. Still the (2) is interesting. Could this mean we'll see something else coming to Knoebel's next year?
