Sportsdude360 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 ^Well, I might be going out to that area of the country next year, so if I see "D.A." scratched into the ride, I'll know who it was I wouldn't recommend riding Flashback - unless you enjoy a good headache.
Sportsdude360 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 OK, here's a hypothetical situation . SF hears that your upset about Flashback coming to SFStL. They have a change of heart and tell you " well, ok then. If you don't want Flashback then pick another coaster, but it has to be from SFOT." So, with that in mind, which SFOT coaster do you pick?
Sammy* Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 ^^^^ Well theres not many options since both parks do share many of the same cloned coaster. But im sure everybody would say Titan

prozach626 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 In that case, I won't tell you what I've done to some of those seats over the years. You'll probably find out anyway. Oh well, try not to think about it and enjoy your new, I mean, used boomerang. Yeah I will. It's pretty much all I have to live for..... Ok, so they're "figuratively" slapping their guests in the face. Sounds like someone needs to slap you in the face. Vandalism is super cool, bro...
Sportsdude360 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Like I said, I haven't done anything like that in years. It was about 15 years ago when I carved my initials. These days I'm pretty tame, nowhere near as wild as my younger days. The most vandalism I've ever done were those initials and one or two scratches here and there in the park. In fact, other visitors to the park over the years have done much worse things than I ever did. For what it's worth, I hope they completely refurbish the ride with new trains. Just rode it today and it would be quite a bit of fun it it weren't so rough. Today was Flashback's final day of operation here at SFOT.
Sammy* Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 @Sportsdude360 You being an enthusiast as we are, you are aware of our love for coasters, so to hear you brag about the damage you have done has rubbed some of us the wrongs way. But I wont hold that against you. That said I wonder are will SFoT start disassemble tomorrow.
kunpc1 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I visited this park for the first time on Sunday. Crowds were nice and light thanks to the poor weather (which actually turned out to be quite nice actually). We had a great day! It's a nice looking park. There are some really good coasters. Unfortunately, Mr. Freeze was down the entire weekend. A staff member mentioned that a portion of the track had "broken". While on the Ferris wheel, we noticed workers welding a portion of the track in the valley between the top hat and the overbank. We started our day with Pandemonium. I love these Gerstlauer spinners! We had 3 great rides throughout the day. Excellent operations (I don't think the continuous loading stopped once while riding), very smooth and very spinny! Next up was Boss. Going up the lift and seeing the rest of the course made me a bit nervous about how rough it may be. I was mistaken. We had excellent rides! I can't believe how FAST it is. This ride just doesn't slow down from start to finish (minus the quick breather on the mid-course). I rode the front and the back, two completely different ride experiences. We then made our way to Superman. What an interesting drop tower. Wonderland has the Intamin Giant Drop tower however, it's the 5 seat version. And ours drops all 5 seats at the same time. The worst part of Superman was hearing the other 3 operational seats drop while we stayed up top! Screamin' Eagle was a bit rough, nothing horrible though. There wasn't much airtime and I was near the back of the train. SkryScreamer was next. I found it interesting that this model goes all the way up, almost all the way back down, then up a bit, then comes to a stop. River King Mine Train was different. I was surprised with the 3 lift hills. We then made our way towards the Vekoma head banger, Ninja. It actually wan't nearly as bad as I was expecting. The front had more head banging than the back. This area of the park looked very neglected. I don't know what it was exactly, but it looked "tired". There weren't very many people here. The building facades looked great but very tired. I wish I could have seen this section of the park when it was brand new. Batman was the next coaster on our trip around the park. I was surprised to find a set of Gerstlauer trains from they Zephyr at New Orleans out in view under the station. It was another great ride. I love how great of a punch these coasters provide in such a small footprint. Would LOVE to have had one of these instead of our SLC. I must say, the entrance to this ride is WAY too long now. It's a VERY long walk through the "gardens" area with the winding path back and forth. Again, I'm sure this area was beautiful when the ride opened but is now overground and not well kept. We then made our way over to Scooby Doo, what an awesome ride! As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of Garfield's Nightmare at Kennywood. I LOVE the way this has been redone. Sally corporation did an excellent job. The guns worked VERY well. We rode this a few times. I think my high score was around 84,000. Just TOO much fun. After Scooby, we made our way to the last coaster of the day, American Thunder. We did a front row ride and I thought it was amazing. Then we did a back row ride... WOW! If we weren't twisting, we were out of our seat. Heck, there were some twists where we were still out of our seats! What a magnificent ride. I think we did this at least half a dozen times. Any chance we can swap you for Wonderland's Wild Beast? After doing a lap of the park (coasters at least) we decided to make a stop in Hurricane Harbor. It's a nice water park. The wave pool area is very nice with the "volcano". We did almost all the slides and the river in about an hour (there was NO ONE there). When the water park closed, we made our way back in to the park to lap some of our favorite coasters and do a couple other attractions. Unfortunately, Mr Freeze and Excalibur were both down the entire day. I was kind of bummed out but the rest of the park and rides made up for it. I guess this just leaves that much more to look forward to for my next visit (hopefully within the next few years).

prozach626 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Good trip report. The ninja/batman area of the park is very neglected. It used to be a thriving area of the park, especially before Freeze opened. It just looks too plain, now. If I had to guess, that will change within the next 5-10 years. I would imagine our next steel investment (not counting boomerang) will take Ninja's place and the area of that park will get revived. IMO the Batman Queue needs to be changed. Although the queue does a great job of making sure you have little to no wait when you get to the station, it's a bit too long. The walk through the gardens is painfully boring. I don't even think they have the speakers turned on anymore with the batman music and the kids yelling/birds chirping. Maybe I just don't notice it anymore? If you haven't noticed, our park is notorious for a couple overly long Queues - Batman, Freeze, Boss. What did you think of the mine train? A lot of people cling on to it for the nostalgia, but I think it's boring. The 3 lift hills are retarded. It's a shame freeze was down. It makes a nice roar that you can hear throughout most of the park. I personally LOVED the ride when it launched facing the correct way, AKA FORWARD... It was a top 10er for me, which is pretty decent out of my 123 coasters. I could ride it over and over again and never get tired of it. However, when they made it launch backwards, it took something away from the ride for me. I loved the launch and being pushed back in my seat. It was also cool to fall 200 feet backwards. They tried to make a quick buck by turning the ride around and marketing it as new and I will forever be pissed off about that until it's turned back around. I hope they don't ruin all launched rides by turning them backwards after they get a little old... I feel like it does NOTHING for the ride, especially when it wasn't designed with that kind of experience in mind. When I heard they experimented with running the Batman backwards, I almost went postal. American Thunder is good, but I think Prowler has one up on it.
A.J. Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 When I heard they experimented with running the Batman backwards, I almost went postal. Can anyone confirm that some seats on Batman were turned around backward? I wasn't aware that it was that easy to detach a seat and turn it around.
prozach626 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Apparently it was tested for some of the park employees, but thank god it wasn't made into a permanent change.
texcoaster Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I personally LOVED the ride when [Freeze] launched facing the correct way, AKA FORWARD... I feel like it does NOTHING for the ride, especially when it wasn't designed with that kind of experience in mind. I gotta disagree. I haven't ridden the StL version since it reversed, but I rode the SFOT version both ways and I absolutely prefer it reversed. The launch, whether pushed into the tummy bar or the seat back is good either way. The top hat gets done in both directions anyway, so not much difference there. The "killer app" for me was the vertical spike. I never got ANY kind of a thrill from it because it was impossible to tell how high up you are and falling back down was no big deal as a result. However, rolling backward up that thing looking at the ground is OMG and when the magnets grab hold and keep pulling you up, it goes right to OMFG and then coming back down head first, faster than free fall is OMFGWTFBBQ all the way. I would skip Freeze any time the line was more than 20min or so (which was most of the time) but don't mind waiting twice that long for it now. People like different stuff, I guess.
Sportsdude360 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I have to agree. I just rode Freeze backwards for the first time this past weekend- LOVED IT!!! It felt like a different ride entirely. Going up the spike backwards and looking down is one of the most frightening sensations I've had on a coaster.
jzoole Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I wouldn't be upset if in a few seasons, they turn one of the trains back to forwards and offer a choice.
mike_kelly Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 At the park today. They are storing cars for something under The Batman station. Thought they were BOOmerang cars but after getting a better view the look like a mad mouse car. They look like Jeeps.
11slataus Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 ^ Probably the cars from SFKK's Twisted Twins. I know they've been spotted there before. Probably to be used for parts for Boss's trains, along with Mega Zeph's.
UrbanLegend Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I wouldn't be upset if in a few seasons, they turn one of the trains back to forwards and offer a choice. I think that would be a great idea. I've never been on either and I would have like to experience it the original way. Maybe there are some people who feel the same way.

If so, those are the Twisted Twins cars that have been there for years.
IronWolfman Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Are those GASM's or Shockwave's trains in the background?
simaticable Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Shockwave's probably. Ninja at SFOG has GASM's.
Woodie Warrior Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Anyway, I've actually never been on a Boomerang before, this will be my first. Hopefully we'll get a few flats as well. My only problem =
