Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

We hit the park on Thursday when it was a cool 108 most of the day...the best part, no crowds, none...we arrived at 10:15 and had ridden every ride we wanted by 12:30...every ride was a walk on...we departed for lunch on 'the Hill' for the Italy game and returned around 4 for a few hours in the water park and then back to the main park for a few repeats.

Highlights: Definitely American Thunder and Mr. Freeze...both were outstanding rides from any seat. We loved them both...Screamin Eagle was running good and the Batman clones are always fun...

I enjoyed the layout of the Boss but I hated the ride...it was all I heard and more...the closest thing I have ridden is that 3 letter structure now closed in Cincinnati...my 15 year old was the lone warrior who enjoyed the experience...

Superman Drop Tower was the worse I've ridden...seemed slow, boring, and uninteresting...

It was the perfect day for Tidal Wave...

Ninja and Mine Train were ridden for the credit only...ugh...I do miss the old racing mine trains.

No real highs or lows from the water park...got in one ride on the new Bonzai slides...beat the hell out of my heal and cut my wife's back...first experience in the capsule/drop floor type slide though...

Overall, love the park and landscaping and brought back great memories...the newest coasters were a blast...

Will brave the heat and crowds this Thursday at SF Great America in Chicago as well...

^ From Screamscape tonight.

A new rumor was sent in over the weeking claiming that this summer could possibly be the last season for Tidal Wave at Six Flags St. Louis. According to our mystery source, Tidal Wave would be removed and replaced possibly by an attraction to be removed and sent over from Six Flags over Texas. Stay tuned!

If thats true, I'd bet it'd be Flashback since it would fit decently in the space and there's been talk of SFOT removing it to expand their Gotham City area.

It might be popular for one year. Although it certainly would add nothing to the park. I've been considering what SFOT could be removing for the past week and I also would consider La Vibora on the way out, but that would not fit in Tidal Wave's spot. Right now, Flashback's all I can think of.

I would be upset with Flashback going to SFStL, this park needs something MUCH Better than that!

But if it is Flashback could we be seeing new trains on the coaster when it moves like what Carolina Cobra has! I know Six Flags and Vekoma has their issues but with these trains this coaster could be better!?!

September 15th, 2008 - Water Racer announcedfor Hurricane Harbor, also Nighttime Parade

September 16th, 2010 - Skyscreamer announced for 2011

September 1st, 2011 - Waterpark improvements for 2012

I havent heard any rumors regarding SFStL's 2013 addition. I really hope that we do not get Flashback due to the fact that it would bring nothing to the park since it already has Mr. Freeze. Ive heard rumors before that they were going to do some sort of modification to The Boss. I do give Screamscape much credence, but I hope this is the case since this ride could use some work.

That certainly didn't stop them from plopping a GIB right next to an existing Boomerang at SFNE. SFGAm was on the verge of having two B&M standups before Chang was eventually shipped to New Jersey. In 2004 the park got a wild mouse coaster. The next coaster addition was 4 years later and it was...another wild mouse coaster. La Ronde celebrated the 8 year anniversary of their production model B&M inverter with a relocated Vekoma production model SLC.

Having Freeze at the park seems like it wouldn't preclude them from adding a Boomerang.

And then maybe another Boomerang 2 years later.

So Six Flags has made a ton of dumb decisions regarding ride placement... Im not saying that it'l definitely prevent them from moving Flashback to SFStL, but I am saying that it wouldnt do much for the park due to the existence of similar rides. Six Flags will ultimately do whatever they think makes sense even if it leaves us scratching our heads...

Tidal Wave? But SFStL is the hottest park I've ever visited! I know it's a simplistic ride and there are other water rides in the park (plus a waterpark), but on such a hot day I was grateful for anything and everything unacceptably wet.

^I totally agree with you, but from what I've heard those Splash Down boats that old Six Flags purchased are very quickly getting to the end of their life and cost a ton of money to maintain and to run (water costs). Hopefully they'll put in something else to cool folks down, as that place gets hotter than the sun.

As sad as it may be, I could totally see Six Flags sending Flashback to SFStL. I'll totally LMAO if they decide to name it Goliath and I totally wouldn't put it past them either. Seems like over the last several years each park as has been getting a coaster from somewhere else in the chain so why stop there.

Six Flags America- Iron Wolf from SFGAm

Six Flags Fiesta Texas- Batman the Ride from SFNO

Six Flags Great Adventure- Chang from SFKK

Six Flags Magic Mountain- Roadrunner Express from SFNO

Six Flags New England- Deja Vu from SFMM and Road Runner Express from SFKK

I think thats it......

Sadly, I think we are seeing the return of the old Ride Rotation Program that Six Flags had in the 1980's & 1990's. The main moves that prove it are Deja Vu from SFMM to SFNE and Iron Wolf from SFGA to SFA. I would exclude the rides from SFNO & SFKK as the parks closed and Six Flags pulled out the rides that were save able & able to be marketed successfully in a new park.

It does seem like the ride rotation program walks the earth once more. I vaguely recall reading a tidbit somewhere confirming as much, but I can't say for certain. It's not a bad idea if the intention is still to add something at most (all?) of their properties yearly. Once you run out of parks that don't have a Starflyer yet, this looks like a relatively low cost way to go about following through on that. Shareholders aren't going to scratch their heads over an addition that those who read these boards might- to them marketable addition is a marketable addition.

The thing is, it kind of looks like they made a list of rides that aren't as difficult to move or have worn their welcome at the park they currently operate at, tossed them all into a hat, and drew at random.
