Noxegon Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I've been on five Pax coasters including the Strasswalchen one, and you're right; they are pretty insane for the most part. Jungle Storm sits above the rest of them though, probably because it's the only one shoehorned into a ridiculously small space with lots of near misses. This is a ride where adults are not allowed sit in the front half of each car because the clearances are too small (seriously).
miniviews Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 ^ Wow, I missed Jungle Storm when I was in Bahrain in 2009. I'm wondering if I will fit the "adult" category on Jungle Storm. Great review of the operational coasters in UAE and the geography lesson.
Gutterflower Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Hey There are a couple of pretty good Mall Coasters in Abu Dhabi too. (included a couple of poor phone pics below) I really wanna get out there again and ride the Ferrari world rides and Spin Gear up in Dubai Where exactly is is Hili Fun City anyway? I noticed theres a new Zoo and Family park on Yas Island but never got to check it out when I was there. Shark Coaster at Marina Mall was slow but not a bad ride Khalidiyah Mall's rollercoaster is also a good fun ride (for a family ride)
Noxegon Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Hili Fun City is a little to the north of Al Ain, about a ninety minute drive from Abu Dhabi city.
COASTAH FREAK Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Just to give my input on the POV, there is no way that you can judge a book by its cover guys. If you watch a POV of I305 it looks pretty "not that great" either. When you ride it however, your eyeballs are being slowly gouged out by the forces (something you cant tell from a camera). Also, since it was a mounted camera, you can't really judge how the ride affects the rider. If it was someone holding the cam, you'd most likely see it bouncing all over the place.
MayTheGForceBeWithYou Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 ^I can't tell if the V12 has any significant drops, or if it's just like a Small World style ride. EDIT: I just found out the ride has a 12m lift, and three 4m drops.
TXman308 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 So a Pirates of The Caribbean style ride (in terms of layout). Also do we know who it's made by; the animation looks like it might be an intamin.
dubaidave Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is pleased to announce it will open its doors to the general public on 4th November 2010 at 12 noon. Tickets can be purchased from the ticketing counters at the Park on the day. We look forward to welcoming guests to experience the world's first Ferrari theme park for this soft opening.
ozziboy Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 A new video has just turned up. Now we can watch people getting their eyeballs gouged out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MqLVNmpFCw
rcfreak417 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Man...the airtime just doesn't look nearly as intense anymore with the trims.
BaMiTsPaT Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 ^I agreed, but that launch looks incredible!
coasterfreak101 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I don't get what everyone expected - it looks like a whole lot of floater airtime, probably pretty similar to what Kingda Ka has. Except for the launch is better, and the ride is longer, and the speed is used up how it should be. So really, this ride looks fantastic - a powerful launch and all-around FUN afterwards. I don't see any reason to complain, especially when only two people on this entire website have ridden it.
COASTAH FREAK Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I don't even care about loss of airtime, that thing looks fun as hell
coasterlover420 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Yeah, the first 8 seconds would be totally worth it. I like how it doesn't waste any time between when the train locks into the catch car and the launch. The older ones waited around 3 seconds, but FR seems to wait less than 1, and doesn't seem to wait at all before rolling back into place. It seems like it will be much better for capacity, considering the ride seems like it would lack considerably on capacity in the first place.
Gigalyte Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Wow incredible looks like their faces are being peeled off It is also very close to the ground on those turns it looks as if she was to put her hand out it's gone. It also looks like theres some good pops of airtime maybe not ejector but there is airtime just look at her (not trying to be a perv) ta ta's I also love how people can feel the airtime through they're PCs and judge a ride before ever psychically riding the ride, I want what ever type of PC you guys are using. With your amazing PC I can save my money and never leave my house since you can experience everything right through the screen OMG I don't even need another person in my life if you can feel airtime, and g's forces through that amazing PC just imagine what a porn site would be like on that thing Anyways the ride looks (LOOKS) amazing I can't say it is amazing I just have a regular PC
scottjenkins Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Sorry if im being dull folks, What acceleration method is used on this beast? It sounds like an accelerator when it rolls into the launch point, you can even hear what appears to be the dog dropping down into the catch car like KK, TTD etc?
andyuk200523 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Now that looked a lot faster than the previous mounted POV looked, this thing is going to be immense!!!! *Quickly checks bank balance for flights to Abu Dhabi............Fail
DarkStitch626 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Man...the airtime just doesn't look nearly as intense anymore with the trims. Oh you BETTER not go yackin' about 305 here . I did notice one thing, unlike previous Accelerator coasters, this one once it stops at launch position and backs down for the cart it doesn't even pause it just launches. The older ones stop for "staging".
Midgetman82 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Finally, a video that does better justice for what the ride would be like. I SOOOOO want to ride it now!
coasterfreak101 Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Oh, right, I absolutely LOVE how this thing gets going. It just rolls out of the station a little more than a train-length, rolls right back, and launches within a second or two. No time wasted, no time to think twice - just get out there and get going!
Joe Cool Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Man that launch just looks amazing and intense, from the look of their faces.
aceospades1250 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 No doubt this is a world class coaster, and the first 10 seconds of the ride would be better than most coasters as a whole. But I can't help but be a little disappointed with how much the ride is trimmed. It seems like just a few mph more would take this ride over the edge.
gforce532 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 With the trim brakes they might as well just rename it Top Thrill Dragster. Because it would really do what a real top fuel dragster does, amazing quick acceleration and then pop out the parachutes.
Skycoastin Steve Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 ^Or what a Ferrari race car does, accelerate and then brake and go through tight turns.
