Depends on the Coaster height, speed hills etc and what type it is:

Wood: normally is at the Back 1st time then Front for re-rides.

Steel: Middle 1st time then front and back for re-rides.

Some coasters give better rides in the front then in the back.. SROS at SFNE is a far better ride in the front row then any other seat on the ride...

Most of the time I try and take my first ride on a coaster in the front.. then my next ride in the back.. and any ride after that I try and get the shortest wait closer to the end I liked more.

The front, I like having a view of the track without other people or cars of the train in front of you. I usually sit in the middle though because that part of the train usually has the shortest wait. I'll wait for the front if it's not much longer of a wait but if it's more than 2 or 3 trains of a longer wait, I'll take another row.

Depends on what I'm riding. Yeah, the drop on Goliath is cool in the front, and for suspended swinging coasters (ie Ninja), you can't beat the front row, especially in the dark.

So I would generally say front.... it doesn't do much for me in the middle, I only usually jump in there when there's no other rows open and the line for the front row is too long. I've also had a lot of shaking problems when riding in the back, especially on B&Ms (never ride in the back on Scream).

I would have to say the back for most costers that I have been on. I agree that it does depend on what coaster though. I have been on some where it's been better in the front and even the middle.

Try to do the front row whenever possible and is my preference. Sheikra in the front is an unsurpassed experience. The back sucked, plus U get wet.

I love them tears running down my face after I get off a coaster ridin' on the FRONT ROW

Hey guys since this thread is still active and if you want to win a prize call the In the Loop hotline.

Coaster Graffitti question: Which seat do you like better on a coaster, front or back?

The number is 212-875-4844, it is just a voicemail service you won't speak with anyone.

Besides you can win something if your name is picked. The more you call the more chances you have of winning!

Katie, who thanks all for calling if they do.

Front- Airtime coaster with small hills (Viper, Pheonix, Blue Streak, GASM, ect.)

Middle- Arrow/Vekoma loopers because you dont get that beaten up

Back- Intamin or B&M rides because you get lots of forces and airtime on the way down hills

Depends.

On what I think of as "view coasters" - inverts, floorless, standups, etc. - front. Also on Intamin rockets and first rides on hypers.

Wood and airtime sitdowns (e.g., Nitro, S:ROS) rear.

So far, I always enjoy riding in the front of a coaster (unobstructed view & all) but given so many rave remarks abt riding at the back esp for airtime & e "omph" factor, I think I will most likely ride at the back during my next visit at a theme park.

This sums it up for me.

I'm usually a backseat person, but a lot of coasters lately I've found to be better Front Seat rides...especially the Intamins.

As for airtime, almost nothing can beat Phoenix in the Front seat. That's the coaster that convinced me to start trying front seats on other rides!

IE Storm Runner I find more intense in the front. The drop IS great in the back, but the rest of it is a beast in the front. Same for alot of the other rides.

But I agree, tends to depend on the ride and where the forces are applied most...early or late?
