Universal Orlando Resort (USF, IOA, Epic) Discussion Thread

P. 625: Harry Potter Ministry of Magic revealed!

Recommended Posts

I know this ride had a reputation as being bad and uncomfortable, but I have to say I am a bit upset to see it go before I have a chance to ride it. Back to the Future was the first movie that I ever really loved, and it is still one of my favorites to this day. I have always wanted to go on the ride. I remember sometime around 4th grade I went on a trip to Disney World with my family. We were not going to Universal, and in the Orlando airport there was a big cutout of Marty and Doc advertising the ride. I was quite upset about not getting to ride it.

I am trying to convince my parents to take me up there this weekend to get one more ride...Has the weather been good in Orlando so far? My parents won't go if there's a drop of rain...

Central Florida is in the typical summer weather pattern. Beautiful in the morning and early afternoon. Mid to late afternoon is when the Thunderstorms roll in. Most of the time they're over in about 30 minutes minutes, 1 hour max.

It'll be this way until later this month, early October.

AFAIK it will still be open in Hollywood and Japan

Honestly, I thought that was the most boring and pathetic ride of our trip. It was very outdated and the ride itself barely moved from flat. Really, if you've missed it at USF and you really want to go on it in Japan or California, don't waste your money. It really is a piece of crap.

Biff Tannen was my first "movie crush" when I was a kid- yes I know I am a sick freak! It was slightly tintalating when in 1997 I worked at USH and worked on that ride. I never found it that great and the movie really seemed to lck in many ways. I do think that replacing the movie and smoothing out the simulation would be preferable to scrapping the ride- like a movie where you feel like you are part of the action sequences in the movie would be grrrreat-

"OMG we're going to crash into that manure truck!" que the scent spray- or scenes on the train from Part III. I do know that we were told that the Fla version was built with a major flaw in it- because the 2 arenas were built back to back- they could not run both of them at the same time due to the vibrations- which slowed down capacity.

BTW- did anyone else know that that CA version is not attached to the ground?! It sits atop HUGE rollers in case of an earthquake.

Hi, first off i heard the bttf ride in hollywood will probably also be closing due to budget cuts. Also i think that bttf is one of my favourite rides of all time who cares if its a little bumpy and you bang your head once it is awesome.

If they do replace bttf with a simpsons simulator i bet u get in proffessor frinks flying car and race against mr burns or something.

Also a jurrasic park indoor coaster would be great similar to disneys dinasoar but not as bumpy!!!

Hey guys This article was in the St. Pete Times September 8th 2006 on the front page of the business section

Well, I think a Fast and Furious attraction would be cool. Universal could use a major coaster -- perhaps an Intamin to spice things up. Fast and Furious gives a great opportunity as a concept. You know all those 10 second "Warp Speed Drag Race" sequences from the movie would make some sweet tunnels on a coaster.

I think Universal has become so awesome simply because they constantly add and replace attractions never letting the major attractions getting stale. Most people were upset when Kongfrontation was eliminated, but I think most will also agree that The Mummy is a better ride.

This is dissaponiting news. I'm a big fan of the BTTF movies and have made my son one also (he loves this ride). I'm sad to see it go, but yeah, the movies are getting old and a bit forgettable by younger movie goers (a shame really).

But a Simpsons ride?!?! Not all of us are Simpson fans you know. How I wish it would be something else. Preferably movie themed. As someone already mentioned, they already have an animated simulator ride (Nicktoon Blast) and a 4D attraction (Shrek 4D).

I'd go as basic as a simulator based on ANOTHER movie theme (kinda like how Hanna Barberra turned into Nicktoon Blast, just a couple of changes here & there). That wuold work for me. Or if not pull a Mummy and build an indoor coaster in the building.

I guess only time will tell.

^ I wouldn't consider Nicktoon Blast a simulator. Also, if it is, it is defenitly the worst one I've been on.

I've already had my say in this issue but, BTTF's technology is so outdated that the ride isn't even fun anymore. I mean, sure it would have been cool if I went on it during the 90's, but honestly today, it is super outdated. I think they should just close it, renovate it with newer technology, and then re-open it. I mean, if they just fixed this ride up, it would be pretty awesome. But, then again, most of the younger audience today doesn't even know what Back to the Future is.

Listen here Kid, Why are you bashing BTTF? We KNOW It's outdated and that's why they're closing It. And It's not about the technology of a ride that makes It enoyable, It's (In Universals' case) the story that goes along with the technology that makes It what It Is, Just look at Kong, Snow whites scary adventures, Earthquake, E.T ect.... BTTF Is a classic ride that will be missed no matter how 'Outdated' It Is.

You wouldn't consider Neutron a simulator? well.....I don't know what to say.... It's pretty obvious that Universal doesn't meet up to your 'Standards', So do us all a favour and don't ever go again so we don't have to listen to your Childish whining.
