Thrill Factor - New Travel Channel Show

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! Set your DVR's! Travel Channel's Thrill Factor starts TOMORROW night (Wednesday, 8pm/7pm central) and you'll see some TPR footage in a number of episodes! As some of you may know, I have been working with Travel Channel for many years consulting on many shows and writing articles for the website, and we have also contributed some of our amazing footage for this show as well!

Here's a little more about the show:

Thrill Factor explores the exciting world of thrill rides, waterslides and other heart-pumping experiences through a scientific lens. Sharing their passion for both adventure and science, hosts Kari Byron and Tory Belleci dive into the amazing engineering, physics and biomechanics that explain why these rides excite adrenaline junkies around the world.

Whether it’s jumping out of planes, racing IndyCars or plummeting down the world’s tallest waterslide, each episode offers a different and daring thrill. Kari and Tory use themselves as guinea pigs, strapping in to these fast and frightening rides to collect data about the science of fun.

Be sure to watch starting tomorrow!

I'm a huge mythbusters fan so my opinion is a little biased, but I really enjoyed the show! I'm a huge geek when it comes to coaster physics, so the emphasis on the science of the rides was a nice fresh approach, and I didn't hear any incorrect facts that stood out. So overall I liked it!

I thought it was good. Made me want to get out and ride Thunderbird pronto! The whole Men vs Women thing didn't really click with me, but it was still fun to see the coaster get so much love.

The segment on Steel Dragon 2000 was longer than I expected, and that's also where Robb showed up. Looks like an incredible ride.

Falcon's Fury also looked fun, but seeing Kumba for just a few seconds was the highlight for me.

I'll probably tune in next week. Obviously there's a ton to nitpick about what they edit and what they talk about but I also understand the target demographic is probably not the enthusiasts that frequent this site.

I didn't get a chance to watch tonight. Who tuned it? Was the show decent?

I liked how they explained the physics behind some of the attractions and the mechanics of how they worked (particularly Falcon's Fury)--very accessible. You show up in it riding Steel Dragon (along with Matt and Lauren).

It was one of the better park/ride related shows with more of a focus on the technical side of things which I liked, but the hosts are kind of douchey imo.

Also, it absolutely solidified Busch Gardens Tampa as one of the top 5 parks I want to visit. That place looks so awesome to me.

I'm curious to see it! I sent them two different versions of the ride, one that we shot in 2013, and then an updated one a few weeks ago that had the new Manta-clone in the background. I'm curious to know which one they used.

^I think it was the 2013 footage; at least I didn't notice the Manta clone anywhere.

agreed. .did not see a manta clone in the background.

(didn't see TPR/Robb thanked either tho. . but I'm sure there must have been something in the credits. .they just went by REAL fast)
