Pretty much every coaster enthusiast has an idea about what to do with this massive Cedar Point woodie. Some say they like it, some think its terrible! What is your opinion on it, and what should happen to it?

I really hope RMC does something with it. I don't care if they give it Topper Track or make it a steel coaster, just make the backseat not as freakin' TORTUROUS.

Cedar Point needs a big wooden coaster. Really a classic wooden coaster would be awesome, but that breed is dying. I'd say do the RMC treatment or year it down and make a bigger badder El Toro by intamin.

This! Every one of Intamins woodies are in the top 20, with the rise of RMC people aren't buzzing about them as much. They're obviously durable, and easy to maintain etc; Doubt CP will work with Intamin though, a very sad thing considering CPs big three are all Inties

I've never ridden Mean Streak, and I probably never will, even though I'll be at CP next summer. If Mean Streak really is rough as everyone says it is, it would probably be better if they removed it and replaced it with a new RMC woodie from scratch, or maybe a GCI or Intamin woodie. Even if Mean Streak was a smooth ride, based on the POV, it looks kind of boring, and it looks like it only has 3 or 4 spots that might have decent airtime. Regardless of what happens to Mean Streak, Cedar Point's next roller coaster should really be a kick-butt woodie because a kick-butt woodie seems to be the one thing their coaster lineup is missing.

I'd say Blue Streak falls into that category, but everyone has their own opinion.

As for Mean Streak, since Cedar Fair invested a lot into re tracking that thing, it'll probably be a while before they remove it.

LOL!! Whoops, should've been more specific! I mean the new school pre-fab Intamin woodies!!

Lol, it's fine. I'd probably forget about them too if one of them wasn't at my home park

The ideal solution would be a tear down and an Intamin woodie, although it would need to be more twister style than an El Toro out and back given the land layout.

The most realistic solution is an RMC makeover, which would be awesome.

Actually, you could use the old (though still used) parking lot located directly behind Gemini. It would help make the layout a more out-and-back, though it would be a little narrow.

Across the road from Challenge park right behind Gemini as I described above.

Maybe -- but there really is a ton of land where Mean Streak presently is -and when you figure how much steeper lift hills (and drops) are nowadays, you could do a ton with Intamin or an RMC woodie in that area. I suppose at the end of the day Cedar Point will have to determine whether spending $10M on an RMC re-model and marketing it as Meaner Streak or something like that will give it the same bang per dollar as tearing it down and dumping $20-$25M in a world class new woodie....

I'm for demolishing Mean Streak and building an all new Intamin, RMC, or GCI woodie in its place. I've rode Mean Streak twice this season so far and even with the re-tracking done it has done next to nothing to improve the ride quality and overall the layout is just plain boring. Cedar Point needs a big and awesome wood coaster.

I honestly don't care what they do. I went on it last week and I didn't think it was rough at all. Sure, it's a boring ride, but it isn't horrible. That being said, I wouldn't complain if they replaced it with something else.

Now there's a ringing endorsement.

I remember having hope after the first drop of Mean Streak, only to have the ride get progressively worse as it went.

If RMC does get their hands on Mean Streak, I suspect it to look like New Texas Giant went it is finished. Same designers and similar layouts for the most part. The layout of this ride is crap, and absolutely boring to boot. Good news is RMC can save any layout by adding airtime and a couple of inversions. Next thing you know, you have a top 10 steel coaster!

I don't think it is an awful awful ride. Just pretty rough and rather boring. The thing is that the parks it's in, and the possibility of having a kick-ass ride instead really make me wish they do something with it.

RMC it!... This is one of CF's big chances to step into the RMC game! We've seen what RMC can do with a somewhat similar ride (NTAG)', and I bet CF/CP's been thinking the same thing... Remember hearing on a coaster podcast (I believe it was In the Loop), where they interviewed CP. They asked if there were any big plans in the years after gatekeeper, and the PR person from CP said that there would be some stuff enthusiasts would love... I believe this (RMCing mean streak) is what they meant.

In addition, with CPs love of breaking records, and their recent loss of a few coasters, this could allow them to take back their coaster capital title. They could break a lot of hybrid records with the new mean streak, and also claim the record for most hybrids in a park (Gemini).

Here's my concern about RMCing it. They already have a steel hybrid. Gemini. That'd mean only 1 woodie in the park. That's not good! In my opinion, it's just be better to replace it with a brand new woodie. And even if Cedar Fair doesn't decide to go with RMC just yet, they could ask GCI to make the woodie! Andbthey do some great coasters!

Nobody cares about how many wood coasters a park has versus how many steel coasters they have besides hardcore enthusiasts. Even if people did care I would guess that at least 90% of park guests (understandably) think the park has 4 wood coasters right now (Blue Streak, Mean Streak, Cedar Creek Mine Ride and Gemeni).

I would hope that Cedar Point wouldn't even put a second of thought into that, if they want to RMC Mean Streak and someone complains about it because they don't have the proper wood / steel coaster ratio then that person is crazy.

As far as Mean Streak goes, my opinion of the ride is that it's just okay. It's not bad, it's not good... it's just there. I think the only reason people pay so much attention to it is that it's at a high profile park and it's taking up a lot of room. When people say it's one of the worst coasters they've ever ridden I really feel like that's an exaggeration based solely on it's reputation which it only has because it's at Cedar Point. If you want to ride a wood coaster that's truly terrible I'd like to direct you to Gwazi or Hades360.

I think an RMC coaster would be amazing, but I don't think the ride is so terrible that they can't just leave it alone. I could see them going either way, but regardless of what they do I hope their "wood coaster count" doesn't get discussed ad nauseam because as long as a coaster is good I really don't care what it's made of.

Here's the thing. I think if CP ever does tear down Mean Streak, it would be almost pointless to say "Oh they're gonna replace it with a wood coaster." If anything, they would replace it with a steel coaster.

Another note. Cedar Fair has been very happy with B&M lately. And I know a lot of enthusiasts will not be happy with this, but there's a good chance the next major coaster installed at Cedar Point will be a B&M. I'm not saying RMC or GCI woodie isn't impossible, it just seems very unlikely. Not to mention, Cedar Point could easily do "most inversions on a coaster in North America" by installing an 8 inversion B&M. Not saying they'll go that route, but it seems like something Cedar Point would do (Not saying they would do that, the whole 8 inversion thing is just blind speculation. No need to take it seriously).

Also remember, enthusiasts only count for a small part of the money a park brings it. Cedar Point was very happy with the attendance GateKeeper brought them, so if they install another B&M, there's a good chance their attendance will spike.

Don't get me wrong, I would like a an RMC or Inatmin pre fab woodie as much as the next enthusiast, but it just doesn't seem likely for Cedar Point to go that route. And it probably won't be for a while until they add another coaster, considering they just got a big one in 2013.

Ok, I'm done for now .

It's not an exaggeration for me when every time I get off that ride my lower back, spine and kidneys feel like they have been punched the entire ride by a leprechaun trapped in the seat backing. It's also the only ride that when exiting I heard someone yell, "Oh my rectum!". I have not rode Gwazi but Hades360 is almost as bad as Mean Streak. The only reason Mean Streak is worse is because it is longer.
