Hhappy
So today I got to visit the pre(ss) opening of Chiapas at Phantasialand. From the parks website: Look forward to the world's steepest drop in a log flume ride and a 6 minute riding experience. Fun is guaranteed on the most advanced log flume ride in the world. Get ready for it! Fun ride indeed, lot's and lot's of smiles from people riding it. Lot's and lot's to see while on the ride and time flies. It does not feel like a 6 minute ride. World's steepest drop on a log flume?? I guess so, it picks up speed at that point pretty good.. but after riding coasters and having that great first drop out of your seat effect.. don't count on it on this logflume. This makes total sense.. but it would have made the ride even better When not riding.. there are plenty of places to look at the ride and the people riding it. Want to get a bite? not a problem either. The entire area looked very good and i'm sure it's going to be a hit with the families visiting the park this year. For the coaster adrenaline junkies.. nah.. for the log flume enthusiast out there.. it's one of the better (if not the best) log flumes I have seen so far in the world. Here's our POV that was shot that day: Anyway, picture time I guess this is where we are heading to today looks way better now this area made it hmm, looks like there will be some food today lots and lots of tv camera's and interviews and stuff first looks theming theming back the top of the big drop on the "airtime" hill Hungry? theming testing, in the front middle you can see the fin for the magnetic brakes being used on the ride to slow you down... random theming detail skloosh it looks good (with Black Mamba in the background) lots and lots of people will be taking this (or similar pictures) this year back of Talocan clear sign single riders info queue explanation hmm, but first.. more pictures, the ride entrance another look at the back of Talocan so many things to look at looks good Chiapas die Wasserbahn in case you were wondering height restrictions first peak inside the queue area beginning of the queue area inside the station terrace lovely area imagine dining here someday.. yummie ok, back to the opening etc.. everybody present? there's the Phantom with gopro for filming speech time yeah, open let's ride almost back at the station hands up if you are having a great time as you can see.. you don't get soaked (at the moment) top of the big drop i'm eating bugs time to cool down a bit smile smile smile just having a drink and watching the ride filled with smiling people Chiapas big drop yep, smiling for the camera going up the airtime hill for the final brake run looking good random waterfall top of the big drop yippie riders and people eating and drinking.. here's the spray next.. skloosh ok, time to have another look around splash down area theming around the big drop. middle level of the bridge is queue area going into the light random theming look at the the pretty lights random water thingy from up higher bottom of a smaller drop talocan more theming peaking inside another random spot where you can look down at the ride time to check out the queue area a bit more first tunnel random theming on the wall zig zag portion of the queue area plenty of things to look at more stuff on the walls last bit of queue before boarding you can look at the other riders from this part of the queue loading area with riders and tv crews. bert425
HA! I love how *all* the signs state the "Six must ride" and the boats will be filled. and then every one you have a pic of has only Four (or less!) riders. made me laugh
Hhappy
^ yeah, today was pre opening day with a small group of people (like 200) for photo's and things.. they did not care that much about the 6 persons in a boat.. During the summer they should be able with that rule to go through 1800 persons an hour with this ride.
_koppen
These photos are incredible! The ride and the new area looks amazing! Can't wait to go back to one of my all time favorite parks!

mattnz
Great photos! This park seems to keep getting better and better. Definitely a destination for me in the near-future.
KBrylczyk
I really want to get back to Phantasialand. Black Mamba came out of nowhere and is my favorite invert (haven't ridden Nemesis yet), Maus Au Chocolate is a MUCH better take on Toy Story Mania's system, the wave swinger with the fountains is great, Hollywood Tour is the best dark ride on earth, Mystery Castle is an adult sized Frog Hopper from hell, River Quest sends you over at least three vertical waterfalls, Winjas is in a class all it's own, and now this. Phantasialand is awesome.
alexinla
Great pictures, Hanno. The ride looks great, I hope there will be a POV of it soon! Another amazing park that I need to visit. Here is a pretty good POV from onride.de [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] BTW, I love the soundtrack/music of the ride. As I understand, you can buy it at the Park. First purchase I will make! cfc
Looks like Phantasialand did a first-class job on Chiapas. It looks much better than the old log ride it replaced.
KBrylczyk
^^ That's excellent! The lifts are extremely fast, as well as the switch tracks! In all it seems fairly mild but I don't doubt that I'd have the biggest smile on my face the entire time! Edit - Also, random dance party room with lasers and a disco ball. Awesome. alexinla
^^ The Fiesta Party Room is so random, I love it!
rcjp
Wow I didn't realize it would be so long, and even feature a backwards section! Once more, theming looks absolutely stunning!

jzoole
I'm having heart palpitations.... as a major flumophile, this is like serious porn for me Does anyone know who the manufacturer was? Have any cost figures been mentioned anywhere?
glouthan
Looks like an amazing log flume! That final drop goes on forever.
djboss302
Nice pictures! I really hope I make it to this park some day.
Philrad71
Looks amazing...sure wish other parks in the US (that aren't in central Florida or Southern CA) would latch onto the "what it takes to theme a ride" concept. Thanks for sharing, Hanno!
frozenflames
Wow, that definitely looks like a fun ride! The flume looks like it has really good pacing. I wasn't expecting to see that backward section (but the rave room with all the skulls and neon and lasers looks awesome), and that soundtrack is so catchy! Looks like I need to get over to Europe to go to this park one day.
FilmoreISnAZN
That is such a beautiful looking ride! All the theming fits seemlessly within the area and everything is so incredibly done. I have to agree about the awesomeness of the random fiesta room. I think the layout of this ride is quite ingenious (especially the lateral switch) as it is wedged in between existing structures. I'm having heart palpitations.... as a major flumophile, this is like serious porn for me Does anyone know who the manufacturer was? Have any cost figures been mentioned anywhere? I'm pretty sure the manufacturer was Intamin; however, I'm unsure of what the cost was.
AmatsuNL
That looks like one awesome flume ride! Also, love how there's that random dance party room (with skulls!) then it just drops you out of nowhere.
_koppen
Does anyone know who the manufacturer was? Have any cost figures been mentioned anywhere? It's an Intamin ride. Only number that have been released is that it's the parks biggest investment in a single attraction ever.
burningstroller
What is the theme? It looks like some kind of archeological dig and then you get blown into some Mayan dance party.
