P. 651: Montezooma's Revenge project terminated?

I think the reason why the pony express isn't compact is because they really want it to feel like your on a horses back running around. Horses don't go all over the place like a Jaguar does. With the colors, I personal don't love them but its not an eye candy which I like. It looks like it will blend in well and you won't notice it until your on it which is nice for that area of the park. Lastly Panda in the western area of the park sounds bad but the outside plends well with the area and when you think about it the chinese came over in large numbers to mine gold which led to sum opening shops up which includes places to get food, so Panda fits. At least it isn't like SFMM were the Panda express is in the Baja California area of the park, which has no tie-ins.

You also have to keep in mind the noise restrictions on that side of the park being so close to residences (why do you think all the really big a nd tall stuff goes one the other side of the park) so it's not like they really could have gone tall with this ride. I think it's a great addition to the park as it'll give families yet another thing to do and if it turns out to be half as fun as Sierra Sidewinder then I'm all for it.

108 ft , 2500' of track and 14mil = compact ? Well maybe. I think something like that would be a soar thumb there. They could just bolt it to the ground back behind Big Foot in the staging area. I'm not sold on it yet either but let's see. I think Knott's is holding strong to a family theme. It might work for some people but not for others. They are also really in a bind with space. Eventually they will have to expand into the staging area like they did up in front when they built Ghost Ryder.

I think it is funny Sierra Sidewinder is a family coaster because it is the most intense ride I have ever ridden. I have done every park in SoCal and this one takes the cake for most intense, with batman really close behind. I am sure there are flats that are better then this, and there are some that are close in my book but roller coaster wise Sierra just does so much to my stomach and the force it gives you after the drop, WOW is all I can say. Also I have only ridden it twice so I might of just had the perfect ride on it twice. So my point is that the Pony Express could actually, but I doubt it, will please the entire family from children 6 and up. I still think a lot of the little ones are afraid of launch coasters but I could be wrong.

Oh! I already thought of it. Panda Express smack dab in the center of Ghost Town, themed western, right across from the Log Ride.

As bad as it sounded, it turned out fantastic. Knott's went the extra mile with theming too(for Cedar fair) with the blue/gray/white facade next to Panda. They didn't have to do that.

Wait...what?! You really must have had some fat people on the other side of the car you were in, because I really have never had an intense ride on it. Not trying to be negative or anything, but seriously, I would choose a lot of coasters at SFMM to be more intense than Sierra Sidewinder, IMHO.

Call me a Negative Nancy, the first 15 seconds on Sierra were awesome with the helix and all. But on my second ride I didn't get nearly the same experience, and it really brought down my opinion on the ride.

But its in Camp Snoopy and perfect for the kids, so I understand that.

However, in no way was it more intense than Batman at Magic Mountain. Even on its worst day.

I think it's funny people give SFMM sh*t for having Panda Express in a Mexican themed area, yet it's "well done" at KBF in a Western themed area.

Yeah, it is defenitly a fun ride. But there is no way it is more intense than Batman. Whenever we thought we were gonna get a good ride, it ended up being not intense at all. Good addition for famlies.

EDIT: ^Yeah, I don't see how that makes any sense at all. Chinese food in a Western themed area? What the heck were they thinking?!

Hey Dude! The Yellow man helped settle the west? Who do you think built all the railroads? Who built the opium dens? Who did the laundry?

Where do you think the term, "ancient Chineese secret," came from? C'mon Joey, didn't your teacher show you Blazing Saddles in American History class? Next your gonna tell me the holocaust never happened... ...oh wait!

Sidewinder is a great ride but it ain't no Batman but it's not supposed to be. I think his tongue was in the old cheek on that comment. Panda Express in that area is a bad idea. Now what they did to the building was nice. IMO I don't want "outside" food when I'm in a park. I want (if it's good) park food. Ghost Town Grill is a great place to eat It's sure better than Johnny Rockets and Panda.

My experience was in the back row, and I think I might have just go lucky with the way the train was spinning, but It was an amazing ride at that. I know it changes from ride to ride, from row to row, so I just got Really REALLY lucky.

It is a different ride if the car is "REALLY" spinning. I know what you are saying is a fun little ride but when you are spinning fast it pretty darn intense and fun.

I was down at the park, so I snapped some pics. Some interesting stuff is going on...

What's that up there in the horizon?

No, you're not seeing things, the ride is vertical

New sign on the side by the bumper cars

Nothing much is going on over here

Look how close to the building it gets!

Some random supports for the next part

If you look closely, you can see some footers under the bridge

Some fatty supports

Just a pic to let you see how much of a toll this construction is taking on the themeing

Well, that's it. Hope you enjoyed this construction update, next time I'm down at the park, I'll snap some more pics of it.

I was there on Saturday with my kids and I can not believe how fast this is going up. I thought with all the rain it would not even be this far.You can get some great views from the Galloping Goose.

Thanks for the pics.

^ You know, once you see it in person, it doesn't look that bad. Sure, it's not in the best place for a coaster, but they're trying to save as much theming as they can, at least the graveyard is gonna survive this construction.

Depending on how well they theme the ride itself, this could be a good fit for Knott's (much more so than Silver Bullet, at least).
