The Knott's Berry Farm (KBF) Discussion Thread

P. 651: Montezooma's Revenge project terminated?

Knotts posted on their Instagram yesterday that Hangtime will still be opening in Summer. I just can’t see how that’s possible considering how far along the ride is. Is Memorial Day weekend considered summer in most theme parks eyes? Even then Memorial Day weekend seems too far off too.

They might be playing it safe. Better to announce a summer opening and have it open earlier than the other way around. I still think a late March / early April opening is the most likely, with the absolutely latest opening being Memorial Day (which I doubt).

Summer technically doesn't start until June 21.

After taking a peek at the webcam, I am so impressed with this coaster, as to how it's looking now, it's location, and how

IMhO it really compliments the color themeing of the whole area, when you take into account all the support structures,

the fences....it definitely looks more like a "Boardwalk" to me, now that Hangtime's in place. And the BBQ SPOT!

Yeah, there are always those who will never be satisfied with anything less than a giga that serves fried chicken and gravy on the MCBR, but Hangtime really looks good. I can tell you from having ridden Monster at Adventureland these Infinity coasters are really good. This is going to be a hit, and the fact that this is replacing a Boomerang is...well, it's that gravy the fanboys wanted.

By the length and look of it, it makes me wonder "What if if if IF" they had put Hangtime where Perilous Plunge was?

And Boomerang would still be there, at that time. And then, afterwards......what next? Would Boomerang then be

dismantled for something else, ('cause Hangtime's already up and running)? I know the "mouse" wouldn't be built.

But that's a no brainer, hah! (Sorry Knott's, but it's an ick!)

Just one of those WHAT IFs of mine.

My last day's meal (that doesn't sound right) on Knott's "Meal Plan". And that is a (&*%@* pile of fries, too!

I've had a lot of time to think. CR is not the best mouse I've been on. I mean it slows down to a crawl before each turn, which kind of defeats the thrill and point of the entire wild mouse concept. However, families and kids still like it a because it's tame and that's the aim of Knott's.

That said I do think it's days are numbered because of the "incident" and the resulting shin guards. Kids under 52 need an adult and now many adults can't ride it.

I keep thinking about what other kinds of coasters can go into a shot that small. BTW I don't think they remove Scrambler or Surfside. Too popular.

If it’s days were number it would likely be off to another park already.

The only people I hear complain about Coast Rider are enthusiasts (myself included, those shin guards suck). But it always has a healthy line and is insanely popular with families. I can’t see the park removing that ride any time soon.

I toally agree with you here. Outside of a large scale B&M Dive or Hyper coaster, this is probably the best option to replace Boomerang given the space and budget restraints. The best part is that it kept the 48" height requirement, which wouldn't have happened with a Dive or Hyper coaster. I think this ride is going to be a huge hit with both enthusiasts and the GP and will probably lead to more Gerstlauers at CF parks. Personally, I can't wait to ride it and really hope it's open in time for the Boysenberry Festival.

I had forgotten about the 48” height requirement. That is great for the park because currently, the only thrilling ride in the entire park with that requirement is GhostRider.

Also, completely random, but has anyone else given some thought about the holding brake and how it could be really...awkward? I mean, the ride has lap bars (with no shin guards too), and you’re at a 60-degree angle. That’s really steep. For reference, Boomerang was only at 45 degrees, and even with OTSRs, it felt way steeper than that. And going up Sierra Sidewinder’s lift backwards with those little lap bars is pretty freaky, and it’s not even a steep lift hill.

Not really sure if it’s going to be super uncomfortable or extremely terrifying, or both. Just something that crossed my mind.

^ You made me think of Falcons Fury and how you're basically hanging straight down with really just a big thick lapbar and no shin/ankle restraints. The OTSR that is there isn't tight and more just to hang onto, so its really just the lapbar that is holding you in.

I'm a big dude, and we both agreed the vests on FF were not tight to our bodies, definitely not as tight as the B&M flyer vests. Especially weird when you flip and your body is just resting on that lapbar.
