skyrocket010 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Doing some research on Cedar Fair and I'm just curious which park people enjoyed the most. I've only been to Cedar Point but I think it's probably Kings Island or Kings Dominion. Please share your thoughts.
eltororider Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 It's Cedar Point man. No question about it. It's their main park and biggest park.

Wes Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Knott's is actually their most popular park attendance wise, followed by Canada's Wonderland.
skyrocket010 Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Knott's is actually their most popular park attendance wise, followed by Canada's Wonderland. Â Oh wow I'm shocked. Knotts doesn't look like it has a good selection.
Geauga Dog Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 ^Take into consideration that Knott's is open year round compared to the rest of the chain.
stashua123 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Didn't Kings Island have the same attendance as CP ?
Coaster Curt Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 King's Island does have about the same attendance as Cedar Point. Â Why would Knott's surprise you?
coasterbill Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Given that Knotts is open daily all year long it would be pathetic if they didn't have top attendance.
XYZ Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 In my opinion, Knott's is the most popular Cedar Fair park other than Cedar Point. Â Knott's is actually their most popular park attendance wise, followed by Canada's Wonderland. Â Oh wow I'm shocked. Knotts doesn't look like it has a good selection. Â Knott's has a good collection of thrill rides, though it doesn't have a wide selection of thrill rides such as Kings Island. However, Ghost Town's theming and history is a better alternative to more thrill rides.
Angry_Gumball Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 According to the Season Pass podcast and an interview with Matt Ouimett, CGA's Haunt event is has the 2nd highest attendance. The highest attended Haunt in the Cedar Fair chain is Knotts.
netdvn Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 For a while, Canada's Wonderland was one of the most attended regional parks in North America. Seems it's slipped a few spots since then. Wouldn't surprise me to see it still sitting close to the top of though.
Whodey Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I remember reading an article last year stating that Cedar Point and Kings Island were 1 and 2 for attendance at a seasonal park for 2011. I thought they were around 15 and 16 including year round parks.  Just found the article.  http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2012/07/cedar_point_kings_island_are_m.html   1. Magic Kingdom, Disney World, Orlando, Fla.  2. Disneyland, Anaheim, Calif.  3. Epcot, Disney World, Orlando  4. Animal Kingdom, Disney World, Orlando  5. Hollywood Studios, Disney World, Orlando  6. Islands of Adventure, Universal Orlando  7. California Adventure, Disneyland, Anaheim  8. Universal Studios, Orlando  9. SeaWorld Florida, Orlando  10. Universal Studios, Los Angeles  11. SeaWorld California, San Diego  12. Busch Gardens, Tampa, Fla.  13. Knott's Berry Farm, Buena Park, Calif.  14. Canada's Wonderland, Toronto  15. Kings Island, near Cincinnati  16. Cedar Point, Sandusky  17. Hershey Park, Hershey, Pa.  18. Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Va.  19. Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, Calif.  20. SeaWorld Texas, San Antonio
Whodey Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I just noticed the article said nothing about seasonal Canada's Wonderland.
netdvn Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 CW isn't a US park. That article is meant to be about US parks. Â Still interesting to still see it at the top of the most visited seasonal regional parks in North America. I thought it slipped a few places. Then again, it's sat at the top for at least a few years. I'm also surprised to see KI ahead of CP in attendance.
BigDipper 80 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 From what I understand, KI and CP are essentially neck-and-neck in terms of attendance (both had 3.14 million visitors in 2011). I think it's easy to forget that Kings Island is located along Ohio's major north-south highway and sits in the largest metro area in Ohio, as well as being located within a day's drive of something like 70% of the country's population. So even if it's not as star-studded as some other parks, its location is a blessing for its attendance figures.
palmerleeberry Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I'm sorry to be so bias, but my vote is on - - - Â [DRUM ROLL PLEASE] Â KINGS DOMINION Â And if it isn't popular with having some one-of-kind coasters, one of two giga coasters in the USA, four swing rides ( Windseeker, Flying Ace, Wave Swinger, and Charlie Brown's Windup), and the best atmosphere you'll ever find in a park, then somebody better make sure that it is! Â "35 YEARS OF VISITING kINGS dOMINION. . . AND GROWING!!!"
Jew Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Given that Knotts is open daily all year long it would be pathetic if they didn't have top attendance. Â Knott's might as well be closed during the off season. There can't be more than a couple thousand people per day in the park on weekdays during the winter.
DJeXeL Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 January- 3rd week of March Knott's could afford to be closed Mon-Thurs.
