The "Rant" Thread

People with lack of common sense annoy me way too much.

My mom talks to me when she knows my iPod headphones are on and working loudly, as usual.

She also needs to learn that I still have a stinking alarm clock. She wakes me up all the time and it JUST happens to be up to 5 minutes before my alarm clock goes off. On top of it all, she is soo annoying when she wakes people up, so I'm basically in a bad mood for the rest of the day. When I try to tell her to just STOP IT, she acts all innocent and basically tries to make me feel like it's my fault. Just stop it, okay? I know it's your problem.

Why are so many parents so goddamn stupid? If your don't supervise your child and your child does something really dangerous and stupid, and someone tells your child to stop, your first reaction should not be "don't tell my child what to do!" it should be "I'm sorry I'm a jackass and don't know how to supervise my own children!" Maybe if you were watching, someone else wouldn't have had to say anything. Little wonder so many kids are so bratty and entitled, their own parents teach them they can get away with whatever they want!

Also, if your kid makes a big huge mess because you're ignoring them and they get into things they're not supposed to, clean it up. If you don't want to look after children, DO NOT HAVE THEM. Why is that so hard?? Many people are really stupid when it comes to taking responsibility for another life, be it children or pets, and that makes me write very long rants.

Both of these happened to me

Haha, I just noticed this thread.

One thing that really bugs me is those people (often redneck/chav/bogan types) who give their kids pretentious exotic sounding names, or worse change an existing one into this style, eg instead of Michalea they'll call them something like "Mikaylah"

But going back to the first post in this thread (well, it is fresh in my mind)

I'll start!

Today I walked by a bunch of boxes in a hallway in our office all marked with the word "Basura." Now I thought to myself, if I was living and working in a spanish speaking country, I'd have to learn the word "Basura" so why is it that if they come to live and work in America, they aren't required to learn the word "Trash?"

It's just ONE WORD and it's the basis of the janitorial service that is provided here! I'm not knocking hispanics or anything (ok, well maybe I am a little bit) but it really annoys me that WE have to learn words in a different language to get decent service in our country.

I mean seriously, if I had a bunch of boxes NEXT TO MY TRASH CAN with the word "Trash" on it, the TRASH COLLECTOR doesn't take it, but if I write "Basura" on it, they do. Does this seem totally assinine to anyone else?

It just amazes me that I can travel to far off reaches of the world and have less communication problems that I do in my own backyard.

/end rant

Well, as the saying goes "If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys". Perhaps your employer could look at paying a better wage to your cleaners, that way you could attract other workers who know English etc rather than poor migrants that take whatever job they can get/will work for cheap.

Not really annoying but it's definitely sad:

Going to the gym and see cars illegally parked in order to get close to the elevator to get to the gym. Um, aren't you there to exercise? Will it kill you to walk a little bit?

Maybe that's why a good number that go to the gym, really aren't making any improvements.

DRM (protected) music sucks.

Today I bought some songs from my friend's iTunes account (with his permission of course). And when I got home to put the three song files on my computer, they don't work. Apparently he has used up all 5 authorizations and my computer could not be authorized to play them. The way around the DRM in music files is to burn the songs onto a CD and then import them into the computer. The problem is that his CD burner has not been working ever since he upgraded his iTunes recently.

EDIT: And no these songs are not available in the itunes plus format. Aargh, itunes is racist against European trance music.

^guess you better find an audio recorder program and save them to a mp3.

Today's rant:

I decided to help a lady at work get her keys that she locked in her car by calling roadside assistance. It would cost her nothing except something to tip the service man. Anyway, she had called her boyfriend that went ballistic about his keys and he came out to the job. I see him messing with the window with a hangar and I tell him that I just got a call from AAA and they are on their way in 15 minutes, so he can stop.

He didn't.

I went back inside. Later I check for the truck and look outside and I hear the guy and girl yelling.

Old homeboy just broke the window messing around!

So instead of waiting and paying $5 for a tip, he has to pay about $250. Oh well, I went back inside and had a powerbar. That's what I get for helping folks; now you know why I hardly ever help people these days.

People who think they know something about video games but know nothing!

Some random 8-year old on a camp bus I work at:

[talking about Halo]

"OMG! T3H GH0ST IS LIEK, B1G!!111!"

[/talkin about Halo]

In other rants...my computer has this integrated "Graphics Card" made by Intel: the Intel® 82945G Express Chipset Family...so I find out the drivers are old, so I assume it'll be an easy way to just go the site, download the drivers, and now I'll be able to play RCT3...

Wrong. What I end up doing is going to about 10 different sites to try and find the exact drivers I'm looking for. All the Intel site does is redirect me to a more recent (a different one then mine)graphics card's update and all the other sites redirect to the Intel page, and then there's one that I would've had to pay $30 just for 4 drivers in total on my computer to update!! I think I might convince my dad just to buy a brand spankin' new ATI or Nvidia card. It'd be much easier.
