cfc Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Superman Escape... thanks Superman! Looking forward to riding this one myself, in a few weeks.
Sir Coaster Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I may have ridden it only once, but MAN it was wild!
pillsberry123 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I've already posted, but I'd give a lot of credit to these coasters: (photo by Intvertalon) and (photo by Groteslurf) Two John Allen classics that anyone can enjoy. Great, classic rides with great airtime and smooth drops.
SenseOFone Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 EDIT- pillsberry: Those are both definitely great classic woodies My favorite steel coaster, closely followed by Riddler's Revenge My favorite wooden coaster is the Beast, followed extremely closely by the Voyage and Terminator
bgroodog Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I'll post my #1 and #2 from each Wood and Steel coasters... #1 Steel - Maverick at Cedar Point (and not the crummy ride in the background, never) #2 Steel - Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa. There is just something about that old style B&M twisty-ness... makes the ride much more enjoyable and intense! #1 Wood - Ravine Flyer II at Waldameer. Packed full of win from Start to Finish... excellent ride all around! #2 Wood - Shivering Timbers at Michigan Adventure. This is also probably one of the more underrated wooden rides out there too, in my opinion.
Cole H Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 (edited) My favorite roller coaster is Alpengeist at Busch Gardens. Its such an awesome ride i love how you do the G-roll through the snow terrain its fun. Edited March 10, 2011 by Cole H
rcdude Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 My favorite coaster is Intimidator at Carowinds. I don't know why, but I really liked that ride. I was surprised when I ended up liking it better than Apollo's Chariot and Griffon, and even more surprised that I enjoyed it more than Intimidator 305 (although I305 isn't really my type of ride). My favorite wood coaster is Apocalypse, although it will likely change after this summer (I'll be riding Voyage, Boulder Dash, and El Toro).
fantasticmrmatthew Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 You all know my favorite coaster! Woody Woodpecker! This is going to seem really weird but............I love Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. I don't know why its just....really awesome! The drop, in my opinion, is the best part.
grrt Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I've got a real tough time deciding on these! My top three woodies have gotta be: Ravine Flyer II - Waldameer Rode it at sunset, what a trip! My loser brother sat outside the queue cause he said it was stupid! Wildcat - Hersheypark Gotta love those seal brakes! Thunderbolt - Kennywood Holds a sentimental value, sort of the type of ride that would tell you they loved you, and then go ahead and abuse the hell out of you. Top three steel coasters: Maverick - Cedar Point Hey what can I say, it's fast, smooth, and there's so many abrupt twists that it could be considered rough! Dominator - Geauga Lake/Kings Dominion IDK why I loved this ride so much, but I got a good 10 rides in a row on this! Storm Runner - Hersheypark Notches out Fahrenheit by a hair, I loved the launch and the top hat. Not to mention riding with a frightened little boy (I'm pretty sure it was the coasters fault, not the kidnapping matter..)
Blatch Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 TOP STEEL: Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa. The only invert I have ridden, and undoubtably the best! WOOD: Yankee Cannonball at Canobie Lake Park. Old, yet smooth enough that you can ride it all day. Plus, it has some great floater air!
ToTa8000 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 My favorite is the classic Scenic Railway from my home park Linnanmäki, Vuoristorata!
XYZ Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Favorite steel: -Top Gun (Flight Deck) @ CGA. Favorite wood: -Grizzly @ CGA, yep I think it's better than Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz
B.A.B Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 My favorite woodie and favorite steel coaster of all time. Intimidator305. Son of Beast. With and without loop.
Werner Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Favorite steel: Air at Alton Towers, just a relaxed flying coaster... the real flying sensation Favorite wod: Balder! Airtime, airtime and airtime!
Six Flags Enthuseast Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 My favorite woodie is definitely Termina... I mean, Apocolypse at SFMM. So smooth, so fast, so awesome... and so many tunnels. My favorite steel is a good tie between TTD at Cedar Point, Xcelerator at Knott's Berry Farm, and X2 at SFMM.
StarTrekGeek Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point was absolutely epic (this photo is from RCDB)!
cal1br3tto Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Favorite wood: Boulder Dash Honorable mention: Coaster (Playland) Favorite steel: X2 Honorable mention: Maverick I love all kinds of wild and crazy coasters!
coasterbill Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Favorite Wood Favorite Steel (Haters they gonna hate...)
IanKgtr Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 ^ Exactly the same as mine. Good choices!
AstroDan Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Favourite Steel: NEMESIS: Favourite Wood: TROY:
sammmmmy Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 This is going to seem really weird but............I love Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. I don't know why its just....really awesome! The drop, in my opinion, is the best part. I completely agree with you that its an awesome coaster, I dont understand all of the criticism it gets! My favorite coaster would have to be Top Thrill Dragster all the way. It may not be the longest or most 'amazing' layout, but waiting in line and the launch SO exciting and its always so much fun to go on with a big group of people. My close second would have to be the hulk. That launch is the greatest thing ever.
