Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

P. 512: Holiday World acquires Santa's Cottages resort

Recommended Posts

The only problem I see with this is that the Christmas section is (ride-wise) a kiddie section. So, a scary monster wouldn't exactly be inviting to the kids

Perfect! The Krampus loves kids!

Really wish I could make it out to Holiwood Nights this year, but life called. Save some water fun for when I try to come another time this summer though!

Now, about that giant flashlight I read about 12 pages ago?

Unfortunately it looks like rain for Holiwood Nights. Hopefully it's not too bad. Does anyone know what their policies are with rain and ride operations at the park?

When I was there, the lightning had to be really close to shut anything down

Rain? No problem. (Unless you mind getting wet.)

Over on the HoliWood Nights Facebook group page, they're drooling at the prospect of rain.

With the Google Maps issue, if you report that the image is out of date (and they get enough requests) it will be updated. Sometimes, they update the maps and there are clous in the way, and the system deems the older maps 'better'. So go to HW in Google Maps and report that the image is out of date.

HW Google Map Link

Report a Problem is in the lower right corner.

^^Perhaps Santa Clause, IN is trapped in some sort of time, space continuum? And the Satelite is still snapping photos circa 2003.

^ It closes with the water park now that it's fully part of it

It has always closed with the water park I believe. Even so, when I went on the cam, Rhino Blas- I mean, Hyena Falls was still open. So I don't know what happened.

@inversion on Voyage's turn around:

That's not where it would have gone. But we decided against it long, long ago. How much thrill can one coaster give?!

Awww... but the new bit on Hades is divine (I can't believe I just used that word.) The corkscrew-thingy on Hades actually is a great spot of relaxation - it's a true "zero g" inversion with incredible visuals. It would give Voyage riders a little breather, and momentarily replace the physical wildness with visual wowness

My first visit to HW coming up on Tuesday. Super excited. Hope the park isn't too busy.

My best advice: Line up for Splashin' Safari's opening about 20 minutes before it opens. Get your stuff put down somewhere, and high tail it back towards Wildebeest and Mammoth. Mammoth should be your second stop as the capacity is a little better, but try to follow the crowd to the one where it seems more people are heading to. I haven't been this year yet, so I don't know if people are still heading to Mammoth first. Do the one that looks like it'll be busier, then hit the other one. Get over to Bakuli and then make a loop around the water park. Finish the water park by exiting near Giraffica and make your way through Thanksgiving to enjoy the rest of the park.

The park itself shouldn't be too busy, but the water park will always have a crowd.

Holiwood Nights 2013 has been an experience. Splashin Safari in a steady rain and 60 degrees at 8:30am is a trip. Getting off Wildebeest and getting back on the same raft is pretty cool though, cold rainy morning aside.
