Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Must-rides: El Toro, Nitro, Bizarro, Batman: The Ride, The Joker, Kingda Ka, Superman: Ultimate Flight (yes I said it), Runaway Mine Train and Skull Mountain (the two awesome family coasters with unexpected epic ejector airtime moments), Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, Safari Off-Road Adventure.

Rides to do with a short line: Swashbuckler, El Diablo, Sky Screamer, Twister, The Dark Knight, Log Flume, Houdini, any other family rides and credit whore coasters (except for Green Lantern).

Rides to skip: Green Lantern.

For the partial day, I would just see what has the lowest crowds and ride those rides. Then they won't be a priority the next morning.

I would recommend going to The Joker first, then Superman, then Kingda Ka/Zumanjaro, then El Toro, then Bizarro and the Safari. After these rides the wait times will start to get a lot longer, but we're almost done with the major rides. After this you should go to Skull Mountain, Nitro and Batman: The Ride. Then just wander around and do whatever has a short line. You can skip whatever you did the day before, re-ride them or do other less major rides instead if you want.

Does anyone know if i can use a six flags season pass from another park for discounts here, like bring a friend free? Or any other ticket discounts?

The BAF discounts on my pass are only good at GAdv. I assume this would be the case with passes from other parks as well. As far as other discounts, there are usually coupons at McDonalds, and of course there's the coupon on cans of Coke.

if there is even going to be one?

Every Six Flags has been getting a new addition every year, so I'm going to go with yes.

The most popular rumor is of a Justice League Dark ride. A few idiots think we're getting a T Rex coaster next year but I highly doubt that since we got a major addition this year. All we have so far are some rumors. They did clear out Chiller's old station but besides that we've seen nothing of interest go up in the park.

Yea, I think if they get another coaster it wouldn't be till 2018 anyway. As far Justice League, I feel like we would have seen some clues by now of something going into that building across from the parachutes. I realize that it could go somewhere else in an entirely new building but with Six Flag's budget I can't see them constructing a new building.

My money is on a new flats package going in part of the old country behind Dark Knight.

Based on this recent photo from Harry over @ GAH, I'd say its a sure bet whatever it is, its going in Old Country.

Nice footprint, maybe they'll buy Laser from the German fair circuit and bring it back stateside where it belongs. I hear its for sale.

A second entrance would mean they'd have to pay a few people minimum wage to stand there all day and that's more of an investment than Six Flags is probably comfortable with at this point.

If you guys haven't figured this out yet, Six Flags is not going to pay people unless their job is absolutely necessary for the park and the rides within the park to be open or if their employment directly makes them money (concession / food stand cashiers, annoying ass "can I take your picture", Flash Pass people or people that stand at the front of the lines to tell you to buy a locker and people like that). If you think they're going to pay more people to improve capacity, take a look at the cobwebs taking over the other 3 stations on Kingda Ka and the fact that they only staff the bare minimum amount of people and seat checkers on each coaster to allow them to run.

I still say its a flats package, or even just the giant frisbee like SFOT got this year. Definitely won't be a coaster, and I can't see the park shelling out to build a new show building for JL when they can just gut the simulator building within a couple of years.

To which second entrance are you referring? The old season pass entrance?

Yes.

And hey Bill the station of Kingda Ka operated for ONE FULL MONTH. Thats pretty damn good buy Six Flags standards, besides...A man can dream, can't he?

I do find it quite interesting that they removed that building during the off season. It's not like six flags to remove something that they don't need to for immediate expansion. Then again, it's possible that they had it planned and labor was cheap since it was winter time and most construction companies are low on work during those months in the north east. Plus, the building sat dormant for years, who knows what the inside/structural integrity was)

I have to side on the flat ride package for next year it just seems it will fit in best with the area and the theming they have for the package already fits. Pretty easy to go to the company and say "yea, we'll take another order of those and send them to NJ" than having to come up with new ideas.

I would love to see an expansion towards the back of the KK tower, but I think the Batman Nitro side of the park is in a serious lack of improvements in the past decade and the last thing they need to do right now is spread the park more out. It's already such a rediculous walk from Zumi to Nitro. I feel like it's even longer than the main gate to Maverick at CP!

So if we get a package do you think they will name them after comic book characters? Our park already has enough of those names.

Probably. And I won't give a single sh*t what they call them. If we got a Frisbee and / or new style Enterprise like they got in Texas I'd be thrilled.

I'm not a big flats guy, but ut is definitely still an area of need for the park. They've made some strong leaps with Skyscreamer (plus the flats it came with), Zumanjaro, El Diablo and making the safari an immersive attraction. However, Dorney and Hershey put us to shame in terms of flat rides. I would not complain one bit if that is our 2017 addition.

However, I really hope they don't go in Chiller's spot. From the old Music Express to Freefall is prime real estate for a big roller coaster to finally revitalize that area and spread out crowds.
