Congo Rapids was running when we got off Nitro the first ride, around 7:30/7:45. Had a maybe 10 minute wait. Not sure about Sawmill, we never ventured over there.

^ Huh? We rode A & B. A had a little rattle, B was perfectly smooth.

I completely forgot to mention El Diablo was down both times we passed it last night. I still have yet to ride it. The funny thing about this is that both times when we passed there were maintenance dudes standing around looking confused, while on the PA they were advertising the ride at the same time: "Check out our all new El Diablo loop coaster!" which we then turned into things like "Check out our befuddled maintenance team stand around our brand new ride poking it with sticks!"

Lately for me B Train has been magnificent; very fast and very smooth. A Train is also pretty smooth, but noticable slower than B Train. C Train has had a rattle every time I went on. Nothing major, but it's definitely there. By the way I feel bad for everyone on that train that got vomited on; That's like my worst nightmare on a coaster haha

I remember watching ride ops hosing off the back of a train on Bizarro while the next train was stacked with passengers directly behind it. The ride ops were a little too okay with aiming the water in such a way to cause the "splash" effect, and it was angering the riders in the front row of the next train. But then again, who wouldn't want a free bath of vomit water?

To my knowledge there has been no construction updates. The site will likely stay quiet until the park goes to weekend only operation. However, they have quite a bit of demolition to do and if they are building something of considerable size, they might want to start sooner than later.

I plan on doing a considerable amount of snooping next time I am at the park.

Hey guys, I've been regularly reading in this thread for quite a while now, well at least since last year when Nitro's train C had all kinds of rattle. Anyway, I've never been to GAdv before and I am thrilled that next week I'll finally have the opportunity to visit. I'll be at the park next Friday (8/7), so feel free to drop me a line and say hi if you're in the park as well. I'm hoping to catch an off day in terms of crowds of course, but I plan to stay open to close anyway.

I know the general wisdom here is to budget for a flash pass, and I can do that if need be, but where should I head first upon entry? Ka or Toro perhaps? Also, does any portion of the park frequently open prior to the official posted opening time? If so, what section/rides would be included in that? Looking to hit all the major stuff, except for Superman and Namtab, several times. Just looking to strategize as effectively as possible and I appreciate the feedback from you guys!

IMO, go as follows: 1) Kingda Ka, 2) Zuma, 3) El Toro, 4) Bizarro.....then boogie over to 5) Batman, 6) Nitro, 7) Skull Mountain.

At that point- you've got your money's worth....have at it as you see fit! Keeping in mind that bashing my head on a stand-up, along with the Superman ain't my cup of tea!

Have fun!

To add to this, I'd go in the same order, but assuming you've reached El Toro by around 11-11:15, I'd recommend taking multiple back row rides on the bull while it's still a walk on. Bizarro often opens late (around noon) and El Toro holds a steady 30 minute wait most of the day. Don't leave the ride just because you've had one ride--El Toro gets better with more rides as you learn the ins and outs of the course and can fully appreciate the first drop and RT hill. It's incredible and there's nothing like it. From then on you can basically do whatever you want as the three B&Ms mentioned are people eaters.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I really appreciate it and hope to have a solid day at the park this week. I will definitely say hi if I can El Toro Ryan.

Has anyone seen any construction updates?

I looked and the literal only new thing i saw was a 10ft ladder leaning against the grandstand.

The ladder was lying on the ground against the Grandstand today. It appeared to be a 12 foot ladder from the Skyride, but it is hard to tell from that far away.

Look between the trees to find the orange ladder at the base of the grandstand

OK so this is all hear-say so take it for what its worth but I just read on the SFGAdv "Connoisseurs FB Group"

"The jackson planning board agenda for yesterday shows that great adventure was there to get approval for an interesting item: a water treatment facility. Jackson can take like 2-3 months to post meeting minutes so we wont know for awhile what exactly was discussed but the question is why would they want to build their own water treatment facility?"

Future water park expansion? Considering Hurricane Harbor has been reaching capacity at mid-day almost everyday recently this seems like a good idea.

The ladder is designed to grow a foot each week until it reaches 13 feet (to equal the amount of coasters they have now... because El Diablo) and then a week later they'll give us an announcement date. Someone tell Tony Clark, they totally stole Cedar Point's idea.

That means we have one more week! This ladder needs to grow faster

I don't know about last Friday but the last Wednesdays have been busy (I was there last Weds and the one before). I did go on a BAFF Friday in August last year and it was brutal, but we were OK with a gold FP.

I just noticed this in the passholder email that went out this week. Not bad, especially considering how Nitro night rides are completely amazing. I might be in for this.

On Sunday, August 9, Discover invites cardmembers and all Six Flags Pass Holders to enjoy two hours of exclusive ride time after the park closes. From 10 p.m. to midnight, you'll have private access to BATMAN: The Ride Backwards, The Dark Knight, and Nitro. Event wristbands, in addition to valid park admission, are required to participate. Present your Discover card or your Six Flags Season Pass at the designated event table near BATMAN: The Ride Backwards to receive your wristband.

It would be amazing if Great Adventure got a RMC like dollywood's new Lightning Rod. The ride looks like it will be lots of fun.

El Toro. I will say though after riding Wicked Cyclone this past week if Great Adventure got an RMC with a twister layout it would absolutely work. Wicked Cyclone was nothing like El Toro, a totally differen't ride experience.

I can't tell whether you are saying that an RMC El toro is a good idea, but i think that will totally ruin one of the best (or even the best) wooden roller coasters on the planet.

God no. Im saying a ride like what Dollywood's Lightening Rod wouldn't make sense cause we already have El Toro.
