cfc
For some reason, looking at Dominator from the Rugrats car ride cracks me up! "Behold your new master, Rugrats! Thou shalt call me 'Domintaor' and bow to my will! Bwa-ha-ha-ha!"
Kingbooba
Yeah I know, I forgot about that! I literally laughed out loud. It sooo does not fit right next to KidZVille.
Clint Novak
Had a chance to go see Dominator today at Kings Dominion. There is not to much going on, but everything is still on time for a late May opening. The coaster now has power and they are still working on most of the paining, station wiring, trains, and air compressors. Media Day teasers have gone out to the media and invites will follow soon. Trains are still in the warehouse and are almost ready to come out and meet the track. Also most of the side walk layout is done. So when your at Kings Dominion over the weekend you can see where the sidewalk will snake through the ride area. They did say the sidewalk will not be black top, but the same stone as the new entrance. For more pictures check out the Coaster Crew Gallery. KDCOASTERFAN
Hey Clint nice to hear from ya.Whatever happened to the opening day podcast? It's still not available on your site yet. Anyhow Dominator's looking great but I'm not sure if I like the facade on the station facing the lot.....it looks too much like the crappy station design that the ride had when it was at GL. Clint Novak
The podcast did not really have enoght bulk to be release. As to say there was not enoght footage. But the questions we asked fans on opening day will be used in the next podcast from the site. The next podcast will have some really cool things going on it. So stay tuned for that. Also about the ride station building. I don't think its looking to bad. In fact I kind like it. I know Geauga Lake had the big building thing for batman in front of it there. I don't think that will be included here.
FeelTheFORCE
Yeah, those trims have been there since at least 2006 (earliest I can find POV footage of), but I don't recall them ever being on, I know they weren't during my visit last summer on July 9th. I got 7 rides that day and not one the trims were on. I hope it stays that way at KD.
kennywood!007
The trims were never on when I rode either.
KDCOASTERFAN
The trims were never on when I rode either. Let's just hope they don't set the MCBR to "parking brake" mode like they've done on anaconda & FOF.
FeelTheFORCE
^ If it's anything like it was at GL, it will be more like a trim brake. It barely taps the train and you get a decent amount of air after the brakes on the drop going down to the first corkscrew.
coasterdude5
Are the supports being painted silver? Or is that a primer? Looking great either way!

I know I saw them when I visited in 2003. They're there in case the ride rolls back in the cobra roll. They'll stop the train there instead of having it rock back and forth for an hour. FeelTheFORCE
That explains why they are never on then, lol. I couldn't remember if they were there when I rode it in 2001, so I had to resort to Youtube POVs, which only go back to 2006, as far as I found. Has it ever rolled back? Perhaps during testing right after it was built, but I don't recall it ever doing so.

pkdcoaster
Great update Clint thanks alot! The trims have been there since the ride was built in 2000. Both lift & CR trims have never been turned on to my knowledge. and the MCBR has always been very light (hoping it stays that way) I wish they would just paint the rails too, IMO it looks bad the way they spray the inside off the rails too where the ties are plus there is quite a bit of rust on the rails. pkdcoaster
I Found these pics on GeaugaLakeToday. Interesting how except for the roof and Wayne Manor decor the station is VERY similar but I don't think the Q will enter the station on the same side as it did in GL Very sad pictures of the old site. It looks like someone just clicked delete in RCT Although I am happy it is now only 35min from my home. JEFF sad site
KDCOASTERFAN
I have a feeling that the queue will be set up the same way as it was at GL,if you look at how narrow the path is between SGC & Dominator at KD you'll see that it's simply not big enough to be used as a queue line...although KD has tended not to build huge switchbacks(ala SF) in the past so perhaps you may be right. What end of the platform was the control booth on when the ride was at GL? I have a feeling after looking at the station photo again late last night that the "bulge" on the building might be for the control booth but we'll soon find out as the station continues to take shape. Clint Novak
The breaks are trim breaks. They are not for valleying coasters, but rather to gently decelerate the coaster. Most of the time it is not even noticeable. Many B&M's have this, including Apollo at BGE. It allows for a more conferable ride.
Reality15
The control panel was in the back of the station on the left side of the track (unload, at Geauga Lake). I believe the "bluge" you're talking about, however, is the brick shaft in the front of this picture. I have a feeling that is going to be an elevator shaft for special access.
