CoasterFanatic Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Got another thread covering the whole outing, but here are my last beverages. Church Brew Works Heavenly Hefeweizen Church Brew Works Celestial Gold Wittekerke White Lagunitas Sirius Duvel
DerekRx Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Finishing up from Saturday night, we decided to go to the Sharp Edge, since Ted knew how to get there. It was a pretty cool place with a huge assortment (even bigger than Tom's!) Wish they would have had a better list of what was on tap though, as their assortment seemed to be more than was shown on the menu. But the Legunitas Maximus wasn't even worthy of a Kim Hop Face Yup, it was good! Doesn't this look good? Haha! Look what I got next, Wally! Heath finally got his Legunitas Maximus, he was happy, though it was an odd IPA Followed by a Legunitas Sirius (they must have been sold out of XM) Ted went with a new Hefe To finish it off, I went with the old favorite, Victory Hop Devil! And then the Anchor Liberty Ale Followed by Bell's 2 Hearted, a really grapefruity IPA with a nice finish First was the East End Big Hop, not too bad I couldn't decide, so I went with the 4 beer sampler, any 4 micros on tap of my choice Heath chose the Mystery beer, which turned out to be some sort of IPA, citrusy Even Nicole got some beer, a Lindemann's Lambic Framboise, on tap! Just half of what was on tap! And they have food too! Shame I was full from the Church, otherwise I would have tried the Hop Devil Potato Soup And its got loads of different Belgians as well as loads of others, all assorted by country The beer menu is a tad bigger than Tom's Here's the Sharp Edge
DerekRx Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 We finished off the night Belgian-style Blue, the official color of the Women of BACT Yeah, it was a good night, sure beats watching the Pirates and drinking Iron City! I can't stop with just one Lambic, so next was the Black Currant, this time in bottle Ted went Duval and had a Belgian Facial Heath's Lambic Raspberry may have been a little too foofoo for him! Nicole liked this too, but preferred the raspberry I started with the Lindemann's Lambic Pomme (apple) on tap
DerekRx Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 and now, today's beers. Thanks to my camera phone! Thankfully I got my AC fixed last week! Next stop, Thunderhead Gap That walk from my car took a lot of water out of me! Its hot outside, so we'll start with a nice apricot laced #9
Rugged One Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Finally got around to trying one of my new Terrapin beers that I picked up down in Atlanta the other week. Here's the funny thing about Terrapin. Even though these guys are based out of Athens, GA and Terrapin beverages are only available in the South, the beer itself is contract brewed by Frederick (now Wilddog) Brewing in Frederick, MD. So even though the beer itself is brewed less than an hour and a half from my house, I have to go to Atlanta to buy it. Figures. Anyway, tried the Rye Squared Double Rye Pale Ale tonight and it rocked. Very hoppy but still blended well with the citrus and mild sweetness. Excellent. The Terrapin Rye Squared Double Rye Pale Ale. I really should have picked up more than just a four pack of this, as it rocked!
niiicolaaah Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 YES I'm in the beer thread! And I was actually drinking beer! Woo hoo!
Hattuchili Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 What a great beer report, guys! I can´t believe how long I had no good beer! That is so bad, but it is really more hard to find something good here, than in germany! =( I need some help to find something good to drink, really! --Sören
memphish Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Try these places. (Note: Never been to any of them) http://www.backbooth.com/ Supposed to have 27 taps. Has Dogfish Head, Delerium, Lefthand, and a couple of Rogue's. Bauren-Stube AUthentic German Restaurant New address and proper spelling:Bauern-Stube German Restaurant 8015 S. Orange Ave. Orlando, FL 32809 (407) 857-8404 Has the feel of a grandma's home...a grandma that collects anything and everything and displays every single knick-knack out in the open. Warm, cozy, and definitely eccentric. German music plays overhead. Upright piano for some imagined rollicking good times I would assume. Old books, pamphlets, souvenirs, all over the place. A little dark, but the atmosphere is spectacular. $4.50 for a 0.5 L ($4.60 for Köstritzer), and $9.10 for a 1 L ($9.20 for Köstritzer). Weissbiers are $4.95 and $9.80. Erdinger Weissbier, Köstritzer, Hacker-Pschorr, Bitburger, Paulaner, Warsteiner, Spaten, König Pils, Franziskaner Weissbier, and Clausthaler N/A on tap. Perfect choices to match the wonderful food. Huge portions. Genuine German menu. The service was warm and friendly. You are made to feel welcomed and not allowed to leave until your'e full. A wonderful place to stop and eat a hearty German meal with some fine German bier. Jax 5th Ave Deli & Ale House [ Beer Bar ] 11 S. Court Street Orlando, Florida, 32801 United States phone: (407) 841-5322 Funky little deli/bar setup with 12 taps of which ten were imports/micros and a very nice (100+) bottle selection. A definite deli type menu with sandwiches and salads. I had a sandwich and it was very good. They carried some locals on tap (Coconut Porter and Shipyard among others). They were sadly out of the Hercule Stout(in the bottle) but did have Unibroue 11 and a lot of English stouts and Belgians. A nice place to have lunch and have a couple of beers. It has a mid sized bar area. The waitress told us she did not drink beer and had no suggestions but we did speak to the beer buyer who is fairly knowlegable and very enthusiastic. Check it out if you are in the downtown Orlando area.
DerekRx Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Soren, after work some time you should head over to Big River Brewing at the Boardwalk Resort. They've got some good stuff usually, all brewed by themselves.
CoasterFanatic Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Soren, I know that you used to be able to get Warsteiner on draft at the Orlando Ale House (Located at Crossroads, across from the Downtown Disney entrance). Haven't been there in years though.
Canadmos Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Do any of you know of a good beer store in the Denver/Aurora area? I have been to 7 stores so far and they all had a very limited beer selection.

DerekRx Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Today's selection: And I decided to enjoy it outside where it was finally 69 degrees thanks to the current thunderstorm going on To get rid of the buttery taste in my mouth, I followed up with a Double Simcoe, as displayed in this bad picture (I can't wait until my new camera arrives) By July it tasted kind of weird, almost buttery I started out with a bottle of Old Dominion Pale Ale from back in April
mcjaco Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 The wife is out for the evening with friends. Time to sit back and drink some brew. I'll bust out my favorite, Fat Tire. Hmmmm, even sporting a T-shirt, I'm a true FT fanboy. I've got to get better fine motor skills, these self portraits are shaky as heck.... Nice head!
Rugged One Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Went to a O's game tonight and had a Clipper City Golden Ale. Wasn't too bad. Better than most of the other stuff they had on tap anyway. Wishing they still had DuClaw on tap on at Camdem Yards.
DerekRx Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 For some reason I decided to stick with Victory beers tonight. After my selection, I'm almost not sure why! This is my emotionless face, which is how this beer made me feel Next up was the Dark Lager, what I used to drink frequently Which really was too heavy for this season Started off with the Moonglow
Rugged One Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Tonights selections. An old bottle of an old favorite. The Troegs Dreamweaver Wheat. This actually held up pretty good considering it was from last fall. Boulder Beer Mojo IPA, courtesy of Adam. I actually had this one on tap in Tampa back in May and I must say this was better out of the bottle. Nice hop bite!
DerekRx Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Tonight my mom took off from work, so I decided to take her to Canal Street for some good food (and some Legacy beers for myself!) And Mom went with the Filet Mignon since she wasn't paying! I had the Italian chicken with capers and artichokes And I followed up with Legacy's Bixler's Alt since they were out of the Triple H (Heavy Handed Hops) As well as a cup of tomato dill soup They were sadly out of the Midnight Wit, so I had to go with the Reading Pils They've got various stuff on tap, but I'm mainly interested in the locally brewed Legacy goods Here's Canal Street Pub, located on Canal Street. Clever huh!?
Rugged One Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Nice man. We'll have to get back there soon. Went with one of my favorites from Rogue tonight. The Rogue American Amber. Just a damn fine amber ale.
FlyingScooter Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Last night we drank Corona. first time i've had it in like 15 yrs. Wasn't as bad as i remember it.
PhishyBrewer Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 I bottled the Weiss Ass Bavarian Pilsner today. And I must say, I am VERY HAPPY about the way it turned out. Samples will be sent out to the BACT shortly after the Dortmunder is bottled.
DerekRx Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 ^As Captain of BACT, all I can say is "woohoo!" So tonight I ended up in Rochester, which is in Western New York as Nicole just informed me. I drove straight from work, so no dinner for me until 10pm when I finally got here. Luckily there's a Fridays right next to the hotel! And she's drinking some fruity volcano something or other, but she really just wanted to pull a Ted Cromwell with the glass! Sweet, Nicole is at this Friday's too! Lou, this Sam Adams is for you. Happy B-day! "I can get food AND beer!" Hooray, its always Fridays in there! Even on....Friday :I
Louise Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Lou, this Sam Adams is for you. Happy B-day! YAY! Thanks! Nicole, the trick is to steal TWO glasses, that way you can put them in your shirt. If anybody questions the shape, just tell them that your breasts were involved in a horrific accident, and you aren't ready to discuss it yet. Nice shirt Derek!
CoasterFanatic Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Speaking of pulling a "Ted Cromwell", check out this glass. Here are some of my offerings from this week (sorry it has been so long since I regularly posted). The Roots are up there somewhere. Such an awesome live band. ?uestlove was off the hook. Enjoying a Yuengling (free beer is the best) at The Roots show on Monday. Sorry I have been such a slack-ass lately. Here is one of the fine beers Memphish gave me at Holiwood Nights. Really need to drink the rest before they go bad.
