I'm more of a rum, vodka, brandy drinker than a beer drinker, but I do like Bass Ale, Guinness, and especially this stuff:

Mmm, a Chariot Gypsy red wine from Trader Joe's (as per usual). It's got a pretty strong flavor. And also a pretty strong strength. Which I'm not used to at the moment.

Had two very unique beers last night...

 

 

Basically it's a Blueberry Pancake in a bottle. Still trying to wrap my head around it...

 

 

This is all kinds of awesome. It's a sweet "dessert" beer. Cinnamon is the main flavor but it blends very well with the vanilla. Highly recommend this if you come across it.

Today's selection is Victory Dirt Wolf Double IPA. I read where Victory has now teamed up with our local brewery (Southern Tier) so figured that I needed to try some of the beers from this PA based brewery.

 

It has a bold, citrus-ey hop taste....pretty good beer, hope to see it on the ST menu soon!

BTW, I've had that Saugatuck Brewing Blueberry Maple Stout as well, and agree, it's quite unique! Different, but tasty!

My last were of my own homebrew!

 

Smoked Robust Porter and Double IPA. Also sampled my currently fermenting Russian imperial stout which will be done sometime in Fall… At 13% ABV, it will be aged on vanilla beans, charred oak and bourbon.

Hunahpu by Cigar City.

 

Sweet/rich with notes of vanilla bean, chocolate and faint soy sauce like character. Some chili spiciness on the finish from the chili peppers. Really interesting beer. Was very good!

7 Fjell - Tjommi

 

Another great beer from 7 Fjell (7 Mountains Brewery). "Tjommi" is a local expression, meaning "buddy/pal". The guys at 7 Fjell really knows what they're doing, everything I've tried from them so far have ranged from good to fantastic. It's awesome to have such a fantastic small brewery in my city!

 

I think their

beer is my current number one beer!

 

Edit:

To expand a little, we have pretty much had a beer revolution in Norway over the latest years. Go back 10 years and pretty much all the beer sold in Norway was from only a handful of large breweries. As of June 2015 there were 112 registered breweries in Norway, not bad for a country of only 5 million people.

So after trying 14 different beers from 7 Fjell Brewery (of which I found 13 of them to be great, and there is still quite a few I haven't tried yet) I figured it was time to move on to the next Norwegian microbrewery. This time I went for Kinn Brewery, which is located a couple of hours further north on the Norwegian west coast. I went for their "Kveldbris" (evening breeze) Belgium blonde ale. Not my favorite beer, it wasn't bad by any means at all, it just simply wasn't quite my taste. No problems emptying the 0,75 liter bottle though!

I finally tried myself a Not Your Father's Root Beer. I know the brand has faced questions and criticism, but I was majorly impressed. In smell and taste, it was a dead ringer for a top-quality root beer, and it showed no more than the faintest hint of a beer flavor every few sips, gone so quickly that I may've imagined it.

Currently trying my 15th beer from the local 7 Fjell Brewery and it's another winner. This time it's their Svartediket Black IPA (Svartediket, translating to black dike, is a local artifical lake that is supplying the city with drinking water). Seriously good stuff! (and apparently I'm not the

) Obviously not the kind of stuff you drink loads of when you want to get drunk with your friends, but for sitting down and enjoying a beer it's wonderful! Possibly my new favorite from 7 Fjell!

Currently drinking a #500 Imperial IPA 100 IBU 10% ABV from Nøgne Ø Brewery located on the Norwegian south coast. Started in 2002, Nøgne Ø was one of the first craft beer breweries in Norway and is currently the largest behind all the mainstream mass-production breweries. I'm struggling a bit to make up my mind on this particular beer, it tastes quite good, but it also feels quite "sticky" when drinking it, and I'm not sure how much I like that. Almost feel like eating it rather than drinking it. It is a type of beer where you definitely spend some time emptying the glass. A beer of good quality, but I don't think it's quite my style.

 

I'm definitely gonna try more beers from Nøgne Ø though, only tried two so far and they've both been of the strong kind. Maybe the slightly lighter/more normal stuff (5-7% ABV) will be more my kind of beer...

Maizie's ESB (Extra Special Bitter)--Alewerks

 

 

It's a collaboration between Alewerks and the Dog Street Pub in Williamsburg, and if you like bitter (as I do), it's a very good beer. So, go to the Pub and order yourself some nice fish and chips and an ESB.
