screaminkid2005
From the looks of this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZA058jnND4 The only flats at seem to be left are the carousel and a magic carpet. It's a short video so I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few more.

I'm not sure if adults can ride Darien Lake kiddie Zamperla Crazy "Sub" ride. I think you would have to have a kid in order to ride if taller than 54" inches, but i'm not sure. Rollercoaster Rider
Yeah, The Crazy Sub was the one for kids and the Magic Carpet is the one for adults.
DarienLaker
^Some park that have the kiddie Crazy Bus (sub)/Magic Carpet allow adults to ride without a kid. I think Kennywood's trolley theme Zamperla Crazy Bus ride allows adults to ride without a kid.
DarienLaker
Just out of curiosity, did Ride of Steel ever had mist effects on it? I know that Mind Eraser had a mist effect, but I was unsure if Ride of Steel had mist or not.
Geauga Dog
The bottom of the first drop and the left turn to the second hill used to have misters at one time.
DarienLaker
^I think they got ride of Ride of Steel's mist when Six Flags sold the park and the park was forced to dump the "Superman" branding from it!

DarienLaker
What does Mist have to do with Superman? It wasn't called Aquaman: Ride of Steel I don't get why would they remove the mist effect when Six Flags sold Darien Lake? a misty effect has nothing to do with Superman unless it was suppose to resemble clouds in the sky because Superman flies! tarheel1231
I think Bizarro at SFNE had the mist effect when it was still Superman. Maybe it has nothing to do with the branding, the park just decided to stop using the mist.

Bizarro at SFNE still has mist effects... I bet it was a budget cut too. Also Ride of Steel has two trains, every coaster at the park does. From what I heard, every coaster only ran one train this year due a dispute between managements. Maybe someone knows more or could help explain it better. Not every coaster at Darien Lake runs two trains, Boomerang and the kiddie coaster always ran one train. I wouldn't think the reason that the coasters at Darien Lake the have more than one train are on single train operation is that of a dispute with Herschend and CNL. I would think that the second trains are just going under refurbishment.

So two trains don't crash into eachother. Ride of Steel has no excuse to run only one train other than budget cuts.

DarienLaker
^Boomerang can't have two trains running because it's a shuttle coaster like all boomerang coasters and the kiddie coaster's lone train has like 3 or 4 cars on it and it's too small for more than one train let alone being a "kids only" coaster! ajfelice
^THANK YOU SEBASTIAN! This thread is sadly becoming a lost cause and really no longer fun to read because it lacks any reasonable conversation about this interesting park in transition. Philrad71
^ & ^^ Have to agree with you both there. Every time I see the Darien Lake thread and then click to see if there is any interesting new news about the park, I feel like Charlie Brown after Lucy pulls the football away. I'm always skeptical when I see this thread near the top of the list for days in a row and I think that perhaps there may be something interesting in the making. Then I click on it and end up reading endless posts of nonsense about what the park "should" get and what they "could" do to make the park better....or just nonsense and nothing else. I think the park has developed nicely over the past few years under Herschend. Yes, we know that they haven't gotten a new coaster in a while. Yes, we are all dying to know what this Lake Monster (or whatever the hell it is) project is all about. And yes, we realize that the park (just like any other) can always use refurbishments. Let's give ownership a little more credit and give them time to develop the park even more, guys... I have a feeling that you won't be disappointed in the long run!
