cfc Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 This is sad. He was a excellent actor; unfortunately, he was also a drug addict.
beatle11 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Damn, that one sucks. The world definitely lost a great talent. This was a pretty memorable role for me...
Philrad71 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 This is sad. He was a excellent actor; unfortunately, he was also a drug addict. I never knew that until just now. Even worse is that he is leaving behind three young children.
SharkTums Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Yeah, I see this blowing up all over online media and everyone is soooo sad, but once again this was a drug addict and he did it to himself. I'm sad for his family, especially the three young children, but I don't feel much for him.

I'm sad for his family, especially the three young children, but I don't feel much for him. I think the reason folks are so sad, is because yes, he was a well known drug addict. but he also had been getting help, and doing well (which I have a feeling led to an accidental overdose -- for example, if you shoot up the same amount of heroin after getting clean that you were used to doing prior to getting clean?. . yeah, i would THINK it would lead to potential overdose). not that I have any info as to details. . .but I do know he was looking and sounding really good at Sundance (just two weeks ago). so it's terrible to see someone who seemed to be doing better, lose the battle. But yes, I do agree with you 100% -- he did it to himself.

If you want to abuse a substance, you'd better be ready to accept the consequences.
SharkTums Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 ^^I don't know a lot about him other than what I've read and what I've read shows and says he looked pretty bad at Sundance. Now of course we all know the media can take bad pictures and selectively edit, but I think they said he had been using drugs since 2012 now. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2550570/Philip-Seymour-Hoffman-46-looked-worn-appearance.html

Philrad71 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Wow...never really knew much about him except for his acting. He certainly looked gruff in some of those photos...and yes, he definitely brought it on himself. Heroin is a very scary drug.
bert425 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Wow...never really knew much about him except for his acting. He certainly looked gruff in some of those photos...and yes, he definitely brought it on himself. Heroin is a very scary drug. but as Elissa pointed out, "Now of course we all know the media can take bad pictures and selectively edit" Here's a pic of him taken 1/17 (from the prior day). . and he looks pretty healthy. no dark circles under his eyes or what looks like terrible skin. . but who knows. bottom line take away is that drugs, Heroin in particular, are a TERRIBLE thing that can cut a career short. I'll miss him as an actor and feel very sad for his Children and family.
larrygator Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I'll miss him as an actor and feel very sad for his Children and family. I just hope he left some money for his family.
BigBomer Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Just because we don't understand how or why someone would succumb to drugs despite having it all doesn't mean they don't deserve empathy. R.I.P.
Philrad71 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 50 bags of heroin found in his room along with lot's of prescription drugs? Sounds like he was definitely on a suicide mission.
larrygator Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 50 bags of heroin found in his room along with lot's of prescription drugs? Sounds like he was definitely on a suicide mission. So much for leaving money for the kids, sounds like he invested in heroin.

Jew Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 He was my doppelganger...I wonder if I can fill in for him on the next Hunger Games? Seriously though, it's always sad to lose someone to addiction. It's much more complicated (and tragic) than just "they chose to do drugs/alcohol...sucks for them," even if it was their choice to head down that path.
tarheel1231 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 SHIRLEY TEMPLE DIED! http://movies.yahoo.com/news/shirley-temple-iconic-child-star-dies-85-105213144.html In even sadder news...... JUSTIN BIEBER IS STILL ALIVE!!!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!
cfc Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Whether you loved or hated her movies, she did have talent.
SharkTums Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I was actually surprised to learn she was still alive!
SuperShawn Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 ^ THIS! I thought she'd already passed on and though my friend was making a joke on Facebook.
cfc Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 In case anyone missed it, actor Maximilan Schnell died recently, too. He won an Academy Award for Judgment at Nuremberg . . . . . . but some of you may know him better from Disney's The Black Hole.
BigBomer Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 ^I respectfully disagree. Fair enough. I too thought Shirley Temple had already died...
