Six Flags Great America (SFGAm) Discussion Thread

p. 513 - Wrath of Rakshasa dive coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

I agree, a zacspin would not be the best solution to optimize the site of SWF. I think Great America is in the market for a B&M wingrider similar to that of Swarm @ Thorpe Park.

That would make sense, it could also fit the "one of the first" speculation, as Dollywood appears to be getting a wingrider also.

ZacSpins are as rare as Wingriders though. There are 4? I think 4 ZacSpins in the world, one in the US, and there are 2 Wingriders built, one announced, and one to possibly land at Dolly. So yeah...but I definitely think it's going to be a Wingrider. Replacing a trophy Beemer with a 900 foot low capacity coaster...*Pulls on collar* Yeesh.

I don't see Dollywood getting a wing rider... I just don't see it. If the rumors of 220 foot tall very massive coaster are true, I don't see it being a wing rider... at least not the type that we're thinking of. Maybe some weird airtime machine or ground hugging machine that has seats off the end, but not a wingrider like we're talking about it.... I don't think B&M would nearly double the height after just one ride is completed....

On the other hand... Our limited space, and need of a new thrill ride really does fit perfectly for a wingrider concept. Something 125 foot range, and you have the perfect amount of energy to use in that space.

Who says this says "one of the first? Maybe this says one of the most thrilling places in the world... or one of the most exciting places in the world proudly presents.... X-flight!

Also realistically, what are the chances this could be an updated wingrider or a 4d? I mean seriously, it is called X-flight

For what it's worth, whatever the image is for the Great America announcement is, they seem to be using a modified version of an asset from a Green Lantern ad...but it actually supports the fact this isn't a Zacspin.

The shape of the arm, what you can see of the face, blue shorts, are all the same. I know the leg placement is different, but it could be they used a different shot of the same model. This would actually support the claim it's not a Zacspin because of the rotation of the SFGA teaser ad and the fact there's no visible car behind the model.

^ What exactly are you face palming...?

And that's a really good point Wes, that'd be a lot to edit out. I think it's a bit weird that we haven't seen any form of restraint, but I don't know if the park would go as far as to remove a large chunk of the car and maybe some track for no reason then to make the game a little harder.

This also means the seats are off to the side of the track... and that the train is tilted slightly (less than / type of angle) This leaves the top left and bottom right of the image open -- even with a full wingrider/4d train in the image. Since the logo is in the bottom right, that means any relevant text will be in the top left.

Its going to be something big and not a zac spin. You could put a zac spin in SWF's foot print easily and have left the cars that they removed at the start of the season alone. The fact that they took out the cars means something big is goin there. And the only thing that will fit with that picture is a wing rider or dive coaster which would probably exceed 125 feet and they havent got aprroval from the towm to build that tall yet. So the only option left is a wing rider.

I didn't think there would be room for a wing-coaster even with the removed antique cars. Has anyone heard anything about Dare Devil Dive being removed? It takes up a lot of space, although even then, I still have a hard time seeing a wing-coaster fit, but more could be done.

Before Wes showed the photo edit, I thought it would be a zac-spin(before today's update I was going with euro-fighter), and even though the site is large, I had hope that SFGAM might get the first extended zac-spin instead of a stacked one like Insane or Green Lantern.

Either way, it looks like SFGAM is finally getting that long awaited major coaster, and if it truly is a wing-coaster, it'll be interesting to see what B&M comes up with for the space. After all, I'm sure people had my opinion back in 91/92 when they heard a five inversion coaster was going to be built on the site of a shuttle loop.

It's a 238' Starflyer*.

You heard it here first™.

* For entertainment purposes only.

Actually, that might be possible. Although, let's say if they were announcing a Star Flyer, they could have easily re-used the picture from SFSTL! It still looks very similar to the puzzle pieces that already have been revealed.

I bet it's a compact 100ft + wing rider. I wouldn't go off of those clues released so far. SF tends to recycle their advertising. Heck, the picture could be straight from Green Lantern and STILL be a B&M. A lot of the Green Lantern promo we got on the west coast was straight from the stand up at SFGadv. lol

^Why not a better layout? Raptor kinda looks really dull...

And yeah, I'm kinda convinced that its a Star Flyer now. But Jesus, does that guy show up in every SF promo?

If it was a starflyer, the chain would be showing above the rider's arm.
