p. 513 - Wrath of Rakshasa dive coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

Anybody else think Yankee Harbor and Mardi Gars should be rethemed? The addition of the Joker in 2017 to Yankee Harbor and the loss of Ragin Cajun 2013 and now Joker's Wild ride in 2016, make the themes of both areas very weak.

I suggest retheme of Yankee Harbor to DC theme around Batman.

Joker - 4D coming in 2017

Batman -

V2 - paint it electric blue and call it Mr. Freeze

Yankee Clipper - retheme to Penguin Slide

Whilygig - relocate it to County Fair in 2018 or 19, replace with Skyscreamer themed Catwoman Whip or Wonderwoman

Riddler's Revenge - Zamperla Discovery added in 2018 or 2019 in the area near the flumes/picnic area.

No. If you do this you create a DC area, now you have Justice League, Dark Knight, and Superman out of place. And this is the exact thing you're complaining about... This doesn't fix anything and is a solution to a thing that is only a problem to enthusiasts.

Justice League was put out of place b/c of pure bad design. Then they tried the silly notion of the Metroplis area nonsense, which consists of 1 attraction. This would be a start to correcting horrible themed areas i the past. Mardi Gras has been essentially stripped of rides and needs retheming. They could extend consistent themes and just link previous Mardi Gras and Yankee to 1 giant DC area.

Giant DC Area:

Superman

Dark Knight

Retheme King Chaos to "Two Face"

Add Zamperla Endeavor (Catwoman Whip or Lasso of Truth)to previous Mardi Gras Area

Add Zamperla Hawk possibly too as it doesn't take much space

Combine the above with

Joker - 4D coming in 2017

Batman -

V2 - paint it electric blue and call it Mr. Freeze

Yankee Clipper - retheme to Penguin Slide

Whilygig - relocate it to County Fair in 2018 or 19, replace with Skyscreamer themed Catwoman Whip or Wonderwoman

Riddler's Revenge - Zamperla Discovery added in 2018 or 2019 in the area near the flumes/picnic area.

The only DC ride out of place would be Justice League. Eventually if they takeout maybe Dark Knight in mid 2020's they could add a launch coaster extending from its' site running behind Raging Rapids. By then Raging Rapids may have run it's life cycle, so a launch coaster could take it's space with that of Dark Knight. Name the launch coaster the Flash.

So 1/3 the park becomes DC Land? Yea, not happening. Also, do you think that Six Flags will shell out the extra $$$ to use ALL the DC characters? There are limits to that ya know...

It's totally possible and they already have done something like it at SFOT. 7 DC themed rides in Gotham City..Batman, Batwing, The Joker, Riddler Revenge, Catwoman Whip, Harley Quinn, and Mr Freeze. It's one of the most popular areas of the park. They have 3 more DC themed rides..Aquaman Splash and Justice League both in the same area, leaving only Superman Tower not with another DC themed ride. Even the 3 rides not in Gotham City are very close by it and on the same side ofthe park. So having a large part of 1 side of the park DC themed rides is good design and theme continuity.

GP don't care. GP pays the bills. Six Flags cares about things the GP cares about. Having a DC Land won't add money to the coffers. If the GP gave a rats ass about themes the park would be a very different place and would have been for the past 20 years. If you want theming, go to Disney.

100% wrong. Themes sell more merchandise. The GP's are the one most likely to suck up the gift shop stuff. You take your kids once a year and you buy them all the junk on that one visit. Btw, you clearly don't understand SF's model, It's get you in the park for cheap and bleed you dry with extras. You're response is silly and a response of being shown what you said can't exist already exists..10+ rides DC themed. So you came up with the an even worse excuse about themes. Btw, if themes don't matter why has SF naming their recent 4D's, skyscreamers, Giant Discoveries after DC characters? LOL

I've always been sad at how Batman intruded upon Yankee Harbour. I always thought it would be easy to keep the Harbour theme but rename it Gotham Harbour. Whirligig, Yankee clipper and what's left of Mardi Gras could be rethemed into Batman related character rides. As for V2, I actually wouldn't give that one a batman/DC theme, I would repaint it, add the wave cut outs along the launch and give it a throwback theme to Tidal Wave. (Schwarzkopf shuttle replaced by batman for those who don't know)

This is of course a pipe dream. Any chance of cohesive themed areas at SFGAm is long gone. End of daydreaming rant.

Cause a Wonder Woman and Justice League Movie are coming out in 2017? Robb said something on Season Pass Podcast (Ding) that they did IP Video games cause the movie will get a ton of promotion and they'll just ride the publicity (I'm paraphrasing)

I am pretty sure it has more to do with what they want to take out. SFGAm didn't need to take out anything to build some of their new rides, but they made it obvious they wanted to, as adding more without taking anything out would add to the cost of operating the park. A lot of things have been removed over the past decade. Corporate probably told them they were going to get the justice league ride and the parks management decided where they want to put it...they had been wanting to get rid of the Southwest Theater for awhile so put it there. I would imagine it was similar with Ragin Cajun when corporate said SFA needs a new coaster SFGAm gladly gave up Cajun and saved it for when they were going to get something like the Joker...then decided to extend the layout to the general area of JWR and ERC in order to remove a few rides to not increase the cost of operations.

So many things wrong in that statement, especially with the Ragin Cajun notion of 'saved it to when they were going to get something like the Joker".

According to the season passholder email, Demon VR is moving to a reservation system, with reservations available after 4 each day.

VR on Demon is a virtual disaster for ride operations. Load time per VR train on monday was over 6 minutes per train, sometimes up to 8 minutes. I waited a hr and then it didn't even work right. Headset went dark after the 1st drop. Monday was my worst day at the park all year. I was expecting it to be suboptimal and it was worse than I was expecting. I only went to activate my pass for 2017 free gold upgrade, as I never go to Frightfest b/c it's an exercise in futility.

I know a lot of people have complained about the S&S coaster next year, but I'm glad to see it.

It may be short and slow, and it certainly is no X2, but it is something I've never tried before. While the flipping may make me a little queasy, I'll have to try it at least once, it may not even make me dizzy at all. I know there are many others who love this ride. The park is too pressed for space to build much with a large foot print. They are already busy enough that we don't always get to cover every coaster during our visits. So SFGA has my support on this decision.

BTW, SFGAm's coaster count is back up to 14, which it briefly held 4 years ago, and keeps the park within the world's top five in terms of coaster count.

I would love to get up there (or even SFSTL) for Fright Fest, but I may not be able to. Fright Fest at SFGAm in 2014 became my first Halloween experience at an amusement park. It was packed, but I still liked what they were doing. I haven't had a chance to check out another one. It seems every park's Halloween operations are met with mixed reviews. Not having been to Halloween festivities anywhere else, I have nothing to compare it SFGAm Freight Fest to. I'm the type of person who is easily pleased.

No. This ride is actually good.

Seriously, these rides are insane. They're smooth, the flipping is ridiculous, they don't feel slow at all and they're incredibly disorienting. I absolutely love Joker at Great Adventure. I went in with minimal expectations, I was totally prepared for the ride to suck and I absolutely love the thing. They're outstanding rides, I think a lot of people are going to be pleasantly surprised,

Space is not as limited as people think. Go to Google Earth and look at the park. There is a good amount space if they utilized it better. Corporate claims 30 acres of land available for development. Then there is space poorly utilized, the glaring example is the Pictorium area. Knock down the Pictorium and utilize the space behind it going to the edge of Whizzer to Viper.

My statement may not be exactly right but it is mostly right, there has definitely been an agenda for things they want to get rid of and has been for awhile. There is constant focus on ROI when it comes to rides that are at the park because no matter what they build they won't push past that 2.5-3 million mark. They have a hard enough time maintaining and operating everything and I think SF's current management has realized that hiring more full time maintenance staff and taking on even more projects isn't worth the added cost, hence all of the removals the past decade.

LOL...You must work for SF or should, 4D's are rightly called the Joker b/c the joke is on the rider for wasting more than 5 minutes to ride it.

To each his own, I think they're awesome (and again... I expected them to suck).

They're outstanding rides, I think a lot of people are going to be pleasantly surprised,

I'm excited to have this at my home park. Adds to an already diverse line up. This type of ride seems like you need to ride it 5+ times to really get a feel for it which I like! Similarly, I had to ride Goliath a couple times to really appreciate it since it's a fast paced intense ride.

Did you like them better than X2 at MM? I take it you've ridden them both types? If all goes well, I'll be able to try out both types next year.
