andyuk200523 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I am gobsmacked........ www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?Sex-theme_park_closed_prematurely&in_article_id=666089&in_page_id=2 Quote China's first sexually explicit theme park was torn down before it even started, after an outcry from officials. Love Land, set to open in October in the southwestern city of Chongqing, featured exhibits on sexual history and how-to workshops, the China Daily newspaper reported. A picture of the park entrance showed a signboard with the park's name straddled by a giant pair of women's legs topped by a red thong. But the plans left Chongqing officials red-faced. They ordered the park torn down over the weekend, the China Daily reported. Officials called the planned park "vulgar, ill-minded and misleading", said the paper. Many Chinese citizens apparently agreed. The park had drawn controversy on the Internet, with some calling it too much, even for fast-living Chongqing, while others praised it as a step forward for sexual candour.
FlyingScooter Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 hmmmm, maybe they could move that park to Amsterdam.
B-RadG Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 ^How about a Boomerang officially named "The Anal Rape Machine" It would definitely be interesting to see the park tried anywhere else... here in America the owners would be sued up the wazoo...
TPDave Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Officials called the planned park "vulgar, ill-minded and misleading", said the paper. Many Chinese citizens apparently agreed. I'm not quit sure how this is misleading, unless it was advertised as a family fun park with kids shows and a go-gator, which doesn't seem to be the case...
FlyingScooter Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 They could have a classic Model T antique car ride call the Strip T's... Imagine the backseats on that one...
alpengeist04 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I bet they would have had more visitors than Hard Rock Park.
Satchboogie3 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 That Blows. Honestly, though, I'm not sure how well a "sex-themed" amusement park would do. They would surely alienate a whole lot of potential visitors.

I'm not quit sure how this is misleading, unless it was advertised as a family fun park with kids shows and a go-gator, which doesn't seem to be the case... I believe it was misleading because they called it a theme park, when (from what I've read) there were no rides planned at all. It seemed more of a museum/sex education center.
odene497 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 ^Well, a sex theme is a theme. It fits the description of "theme park." Rides are just assumed to be there. It does sound interesting.
chemical_echo Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I don't see how it fits the description of park. Nothing in the article pointed it to being any kind of park, but more of a place where you can learn sex through displays and workshops.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Honestly, though, I'm not sure how well a "sex-themed" amusement park would do. They would surely alienate a whole lot of potential visitors Seeing as pornography and prostitution and explicit websites are billion dollar industries worldwide, I'm sure quite more than a few people would have checked it out. Would it have attracted the most wholsome crowd? I doubt it, but would it have striked a bone in local tourgasm? You bet.
dandaman Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Did Terrance buy the female legs statue? Seems like a conundrum. P.S. I want to buy one of those Flying Bus installations and rename it "Dan Smith's White Windowless Candy-Filled Fun Van Experience" and see how fast it takes to be denounced as misleading.
CoasterNERD502 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 All I can imagine for this park would be coasters going in-and-out tunnels.....
Kennyweird Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Something about the word "premature" being in the title made me grin...
kamikazewatermelon Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Sex theme park? CLOSED?????? Why, I would've never expected that!
sam06pr Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Maybe in Europe it could work. This just shows how conservative and close minded people are
Astat Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 What I don't understand is, with this being in China, wouldn't the government officials who ordered the place demolished had to have been the same ones who approved its construction in the first place?
jamesdillaman Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I laughed when i saw it was called Love Land... I live in Loveland, OH. They should build it here... -James Dillaman
TheRapidsNerd Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Sounds like this pull out was ill timed. Hmm...this would've been an interesting park to visit. Shame that.
musicmand Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 So I guess you could call this a premature evacuation?
CoasterLover Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 The best part is, this would be the SECOND of such parks! The original "Love Land" is alive and well in Korea! Though, it really looks more like a really crazy sculpture garden at an art gallery than a "theme park"... (WARNING: some of the pics in the below links are pretty graphic!) http://www.jejuloveland.com/index.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Land_(Korea) http://www.myconfinedspace.com/2006/12/22/love-land-south-korea/
DiSab Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 ^ That's just... creepy. It looks like that place would give me nightmares. But at least they cover everything, including the glory hole.
monsterfan99 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I can just imagine management telling the sculpture to make the glory hole one "Yes, we want one with a couple having sex via glory hole. We want to pants to be down just slightly on the guy and him to looks like he is about ready to hit the wall. With the female, we want to act as if nothing special is happening. Add we need it by next month."
