bobafett
^^supertropper, I remember Savannah Smiles also. I thought I was the only person in the world who remembers seeing that movie. How I cried my eyes out . Growing up in the 80's rocked for me. I had a great childhood. Star Wars and Transformers toys for me every Christmas. Star Wars ruled my world. I still have them on display. We had (and still have the unit and all the games) ColecoVision( remember that?) The fashion styles were a bit odd but worked for us at the time, wearing neon clothes and when rap started to become more main stream we all wore new yorkers(big fat shoe laces) in our sneakers just like Run DMC. The movies of that decade were good others were crap. And another cartoon that I loved was ThunderCats, I have the symbol that wore on their belt tattooed at the base of my neck. The 80's weren't a bad decade at all to grow up in. I enjoyed it.
TheRapidsNerd
Why do I get this sudden urge to watch Saturday Supercade, go to Showbiz Pizza, dig out the lawn darts, hunt for an NES R.O.B, buy a Valtera Splatter skateboard with big 2-tone wheels off ebay, tie a bandana around my leg, and pick the carpet fuzz off the oily Wacky Wall Walker. Now where those Whizzer tops and Duncan yoyos? Maybe they're next to the Garbage Pale cards. Weird... LOL! And I just downloaded more Hair Metal from iTunes today! krouvi
Last night I was in an 80's party It is actually called 4th grade party and well ... it was just like this. People were dresed up like in the 80's and the music was exactly as you think. It was kind of a shock for the first 5 minutes but I loved it so much. People actually sang though all the songs one by one. I like clubbing and this one a great night from different times.

Bolliger&Mabillard
Since I was born in '87 there isn't much I remember first hand, but Back to the Future and Ghostbusters where some of the best franchises to date IMO, and Ninja Turtles, I still watch that faithfully on DVD to this day. emily>piers
ohmygod, the soundtrack to my formative years (ok so i went through my teens in the 90s but I was a loser and about 10 years behind the times) was The Smiths and The Cure, I had a Cure badge on my school tie and wore High Tops with my school skirt (I was such a rebel) Top Gun is amazing and The Breakfast Club (Does Barry Manilow know you raid his wardrobe) and Pretty in Pink remain some of my favourite films. My Dad had a commodore 16 which was like a monolith but had this amazing game called icicle works which is probably really shit now, but when you're like 7 it was amazing. Thundercats, He-man (my neighbour had all the toys), My Little Pony and my favourite was my Jem doll which had red flashing earrings and then my neighbour stole it off me, grrrr. Oh and 80s Eastenders with Nick Cotton the worlds worst junkie and Grange Hill (I just want to help you Ro-land). My 30th is going to be an 80s themed fancy dress do and I am going to back-comb my hair into oblivion like Suzannah Hoffs.

niiicolaaah
...my favourite was my Jem doll which had red flashing earrings ... YES!!!! I LOVED Jem! I'm pretty sure I had all of the dolls. And they each came with a cassette, how cool! I was born in '83, so I don't remember too too much from the 80s, but I do remember Jem, Fraggle Rock (!!!), Pound Puppies, The Smurfs (and while I'm at it, Hanna Barbara Land at Canada's Wonderland). Oh yeah and visiting Crystal Beach until it closed in 1989

RIP Psyclone
Thundercats! There's no way Juno would have actually known about or remembered that show, but those around my age appreciated the reference. Juno would have worked better if it had took place in the mid 1990's, I'm sure Diablo would agree, but that would have increased the budget. Kids born around 1990 (Allison, am I right?) have no idea about Thundercats.
Jew
^Why do you assume that kids born in the 90's have no idea about Thundercats? It's been airing on Cartoon Network for ages. Kids growing up in the 90's probably know it from religiously watching cartoon network like I did. I remember it being a lead in to Swat Kats. cathyJ
I remember the 80s quite well Actually I can remember exactly what I was doing on 12/31/79 and 12/31/89..watching TV LOL The 80s were actually a mix bag for me and a lot of it has been forgotten over the years. I lost a number of family members in the 80s but I managed to travel a lot more too. People talk about how bad the economy is today but in the early 80s it was a lot worse. It was so bad in Virginia ( some parts of the state had 20% unemployment rates !! ) not only do I remember seeing people getting kicked out of their homes and those mowing their neighbors lawn to "make ends meet" but ( again totally forgotten now ) there were rumors that Kings Dominion wouldnt be open for the 1981 season. The building of Grizzly changed that. Even though MTV came along in 1981 it actually wasn't until 1984/1985 when many saw the channel for the first time. Before 1984...top 40 radio meant a mix of light rock, country, disco, punk and metal...all on the same station. Kenny Rogers beside The Clash beside Hall & Oates beside AC/DC//beside Michael Jackson..ah yeah that happened on our then local top 40 station..99.3 The Fox. MTV put a stop to that. But the thing I remember back then...it seemed that people just didn't care about stuff. Stores would still sell cigarettes, cigars, beer even porn to minors if they wanted too. Heck I remember buying a six pack of Miller beer..when I was 16 !!! Try doing that today. A 30 year old skateboarder? Who cares !! Collecting old TV Guides? Dittos !! One pretty did what they wanted too and few would judge. Today.some of that may be still true but a 40 year old skateboarder today chances are would hear the comment "..that is weird..now grow up". Today it seems everything "must fit".
