DCody
Natalie and Roxanne are coming on the West Coast Trip? GIRLS OF TPR, REUNITED!!! I'm definitely doing West Coast, but Scandinavia is oh so tempting...
MichaelD
Hi All, (Please bear with me a moment as I introduce ourselves). Me: 40. Coaster nut. 7 1/2 year old daughter - 51" - Coaster nut. Her favourite rollercoaster: Millennium Force - 'nuf said. Wife: HATES coasters. Barely tolerates theme parks. We're from Australia, and we have just completed a stupendous 5 week US coast-to-coast coaster tour. Best trip we've ever done by far. Planning it took months. It seems sensible to us now to come along on a TPR trip (most likely Deep South + Texas) since all the planning is done and we can concentrate on the FUN...but how will a non-riding spouse fit in? Has anyone done this before? If yes, what were your and the non-rider's experiences? My theoretical idea is to have my wife use the same hotel room as us and use the bus between accommodations but for her to work her sightseeing around our park time/travel schedule. SharkTums
^We've had this situation on pretty much every trip. Some days the 'non-riding person' goes off on their own, some days they have fun doing the non-coaster stuff with us, etc. On the Behemoth Trip we had people go visit Niagara Falls, in Europe we had people skip out on a park to sightsee. We make everyone feel welcome, and they can just laugh at us when we get all geeky!
ebl
All of these trips look great, but if I'm able to do any, it'd most likely be the Deep South trip, being that it's only one week long. (I have to consider what my employment situation will be then and how much vacation time I'd have.) But aside from time, that trip covers some parks that I've long wanted to visit. I will take a serious look at going on that one. Eric

thrillgeek
I have one question Robb/Elissa. It's probably not a big deal but I haven't been on an airplane for a long time. I have diabetes and I'll have to bring alot of supplies with me even if I'm only doing the 5 day trip. This shouldn't be a problem in the airport or at the parks right? I just want to clear everything up now. Thanks in advance!
ginzo
I'm definitely doing West Coast, but Scandinavia is oh so tempting... Yep, who wouldn't want to ride the dog fart coaster?
terrancew_hod
I was somewhat heartbroken that there's no Asian trip this year, so was somewhat torn between Scandi and West Coast. Then I looked at all these Euro coins in the ankle safe i carried around this past summer (and my passport) and figured I'd best get rid of them and try to get on the Scandi trip. I'll probably try to get on The west coast trip, due to various people, missing me from the East coast trip, requesting I show up. Terry "retiring the statue credits in '09" Weaver EDIT: I'm definitely doing West Coast, but Scandinavia is oh so tempting... You should definitely do the scandi trip if you can swing it. There are some pretty good coasters on the trip and the vibe there is much different than in the States.
cfc
^Hmm--not sure how much good the euro coins will do you in the Scandanavian countries, Terry. I know that Sweden and Norway still use krona (or kronor, or how ever it's spelled). I think euros are good in one of the Scandi nations, though. My Scandanavia trip deposit is on the way. Meteornotes
As someone that has to carry way too much medication with him at all times, and travels to various parts of the world every year, I can help you with this question. You should have no problem at the airport. If you use any liquid medication, you'll have to have it in a separate plastic bag for screening, but other than that it's no big deal. It is a good idea for you to have a letter from your doctor stating that you have to take these things with you, just in case you get a really annoying security person (I've never had to use mine, but it's still a good idea to carry one). I've never been questioned about any of my medical supplies, and this includes many visits to foreign countries. So this is nothing to worry about. At the parks, I either carry stuff I need in zippered cargo pockets on my shorts, or in a small bag (usually a TPR bag). Different parks have different policies about bags and other items, and these should be discussed on the trip forums long before you head out for the trip, so you'll know what you can carry around with you, or what you might have to store in a locker. But again, this is no big deal, just requires a little pre-planning. Hope this helps. Any other questions about this, ask away... dt
Brandy524
Since I'm right here in AL, I totally want to do the Deep South trip. I'll have to talk to the spouse and see what he thinks.
supertrooper
I've sent my deposit for the Deep South trip. Even though I live in Dallas, I haven't been to SFOT in a few years simply because it bores me, and I've already been to SFFT and SeaWorld, so it's not terribly tempting. Carowinds is the only Deep South park I've been to, and it was many years ago (before Vortex even). So, because I can't afford the West Coast trip, and definitely not Scandinavia, this seems like the perfect choice. It'll be my first TPR trip. I sort of mentioned that I wanted to go on one to my boyfriend, but I doubt he paid any attention to me. He'll probably notice the paypal transaction on the bank statement though. Oh well. Time to start saving...hopefully my income tax check will come before the next payment is due.

I actually have more Pounds than Euros, so I'll be trying to exchange them for paper since it's likely I'll be landing in London from the states. Besides they are still worth more to exchange than the dollar. Terry
HowieP
I'll mail out payment ASAP! I've been planning a trip to the West Coast for next year. This makes it better. I'll be looking forward to meeting you guys.
terrancew_hod
^Thanks Wes! My point was I'll be able to use them somewhere while I'm on vacation, but I think people were so quick to make a point that they missed that. Oh well. Regardless I think the Scandi trip will be great. Terry
Speeddeamon128
I already signed up for West Coast I can't wait to see old faces again from the Behemoth/Ravine Flyer II & East Coast trip. Also every credit is going to be new
Brandy524
Any chance y'all might add a one-day event at any of the southern parks like you did at Hershey? Because I'm thinking hubby is not going to be hot on the idea of doing the whole trip, but if y'all did a single event we could definitely make it. It will suck for y'all to be so close by and me not to be able to meet y'all!
televisedconfession
I put in my deposit for West Coast. Anyone else paid? Oh, and I'm considering an online garage sale to help pay for my trip, anyone wanna get in that with me? We'll start a TPR Garage sale! Hizzah, I'm so excited, I could pee! Any Maurer Söhne Spinning Wild Mouses on this trip? Looks like we can reunite the perfect spin now that Natalie's on board for the West Coast. Natalie, would you be interested in a road trip out there? I might be considering it yet again...
TPDave
Natalie and Roxanne are coming on the West Coast Trip? GIRLS OF TPR, REUNITED!!! I'm definitely doing West Coast, but Scandinavia is oh so tempting... So you might actually get to USH at long last! I'm so torn at the moment, I can't do Scandi ( ) but both US trips look really good, (and after the Behemoth trip and East Coast i'm sold on US trips) and price wise, there's not a lot in it! natatomic
Natalie, would you be interested in a road trip out there? I might be considering it yet again... Well, I was considering the possibility of sucking it up and getting a prescription for something (or maybe just a bottle of vodka) to knock me out so I could fly. And maybe looking to see if anyone on the trip lives near me who'd be willing to take the same flight so they can hold my hand, hold the paper bag to my mouth, and remind me to breathe in and out, in and out. But hmm...road trip... I like that idea too. We'll have to discuss it as it gets closer.
Edward
OMGWTFBBQAndSuch!!! Scandinavia is SO CLOSE! Yet so expensive. Anyways, probably have noticed that I haven't been very active around here so I'm gonna say it here and now what has happened in my life (hope I don't bore you). One day in June, July I signed up for collages, and got in to one of them in Skövde. So I decided to move from Gothenburg to Skövde on the 4th of August, and school started 3-4 weeks later. Also when I moved in I didn't have internet to begin with because I thought it was sort of automatic, but apparently I had to get a modem (and some registering). Ever since, with studies and all, I felt I didn't have the time to get lost in the Trip Reports and pics and vids here and there, plus I felt I had missed alot and thought of taking it all in when I didn't have studies. Now that I live all on my own my budget kinda bounces between 23 000 and 16 000 SEK (3 000 - 2 000 USD). You know, get money for studying, spend money on food and visiting parents every so often. So my option is (unless my parents (and maybe friends) can pitch in) would be that there "Land of the Suspicious" that is rather unfamilliar to me. Been there once, but that was before... well... before. Oh the agony of economi. If the trip TO the meeting place and back home was included in these prices then it'd look cheap. At a guess it would be about 20 000 SEK to and from Texas. Well, at least there will be a chance of meeting you guys at Liseberg (if you are there a full day). Hm... May even see if I can spend a little money on a train trip to Gröna Lund and see you all once more, or something... Hm... Wondering if I can squeaze in a Danish park... No, not sure if I can afford the boat trip and a place to stay over night. Though just out of curiosity for any time I feel like going to Denmark, which park would you recommend? <.< /Edward
robbalvey
Any chance y'all might add a one-day event at any of the southern parks like you did at Hershey? I'm not sure if we will be doing the one-day events during the trip again this year. A lot of will have to depend on how many people sign up for the trips and how easy the parks are to work with. Part of the problem with doing the single day events is that it was basically having to organize two seperate events on one day. We had different admission options, meal options, had to set up meeting places for non-tour participants, we had seperate event packages that we needed to put together, I needed seperate transportation to the park to arrive early, etc.... It honestly was quite a bit of additional work and if an opprotunity presents itself we absolutely will offer a one-day event, but I don't think we would plan for it more than about a month out and it would be more like our Hershey "meet up" and less like our Behemoth Bash "event." Hope that helps! --Robb

Denmark, Norway and Sweden use kroner (DKR, NOK and SEK). I'm not too sure about Finland, but I think they are using Euros. However, the problem shouldn't be that big; I know that I only can speak about the Danish "money rules", but here, I'm 90 % sure that every shop, park or whatever it is, is forced to accept Euros, however, you'll get kroner as exchange money. The Ayatollah
I'm interested in either the Deep South or Texas trip, but I doubt I would be able to stay for the entire length of the trip. Is it a possibility to leave any of the trips early? I expect that the answer is yes, especially since I know it will be up to me to get to the airport, pay for transportation, etc. Mainly, I was curious to see if any of your trip-goers have ever left early, and if any of them post on here, to get input on how that worked for them.
