wmay
Liseberg is my hometown park so I'm beyond excited about Valkyria! I don't live in Sweden anymore so I haven't been to the park in a while but the last couple of times I was there I decidedly skipped Kanonen as it has never been a favorite. It's an ok coaster but the tightness of the layout does make for quite a rough ride so I'm glad it's being replaced with something (hopefully) more awesome. jray21
I love how some European coasters have their own techno music soundtracks. My favorite one is still Euro Mir, but these are pretty good!
lond
Due to problems with my computer I haven't posted the photos from last Fridays grand winter season opening @ Liseberg. In the short time between Halloween and Winter seasons, the staff @ Liseberg have made great work to remove all Halloween themeing and prepare the park for winter A gigant nutcracker Kaninlandet looks great with all the snow and lights The road to Santa The only large running coaster The fairytale castle now has a medieval market A very short cue to Mechanica in the light rain Was orange 2 week ago Creepy snowman /// Marcus
per2012
So Liseberg changed their minds, Kanonen will close after this season and work on Valkyria will begin this spring.
cookiex
On the one hand, I did kinda want to ride Kanonen one last time. On the other hand, meh. Bring on Valkyria.

They must already have a buyer. I suppose that is why they are able to push it back and get a head start on Valkyria, which is still set to open 2018, right? I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about how they were going to find the time to dismantle Kanonen and then get the somewhat large Valkyria built in the off sesaon. It could be that they already have a buyer but maybe they also just realized that the project was going to take longer than they initially thought. cookiex
Getting Kanonen dismantled and Valkyria up and running in 6/7 months (assuming the idea was to close Kanonen in September) would have been pretty tight. Helix took a lot longer to build but that also needed a lot of landscaping to be done.
larrygator
Valkyria was always projected to open in 2018. The only change is that Kanonen will remain open for 2017.

The original plan was to close Kanonen in 2017 but now it'll close at the end of this winter season.

RyanTPM
I think we're getting this a little wrong here, Kanonen's removal hasn't been delayed until after the 2017 season has it, it's been brought forward to the end of this current one right?
