BugEyed
Thanks for the excellent media day report. If I had it all to do over again I would have been a fire dancer.
StealthFan
Any ride opening that involves fire and explosions is a great opening! Glad to hear positive reviews for the ride and I hope its more reliable for the park than Bling was for Blackpool.
Nrthwnd
Looked like a great opening for Mechanica. And the theming is wonderful! And I know David would kill for those two plush purple chairs in the candy shop, lol. And Helix, too. Thanks for covering and posting the opening, Marcus. Swede
Video (in Swedish) of kids getting to try out Mechanica and what they thought of it. Pros: You get to go really high and spin a lot. Cons: The ride is way to short and the seats are a bit too hard http://www.gp.se/kulturnoje/1.2693274-mechanica-liseberg

lond
Grand opening of Liseberg and premiere for Mechanica to the GP. Andrdeas (CEO) made a opening speech to the eager waiting GP in front of Mechanica, this time i was not prepared with my camera to catch the fireballs Found some new camera angels from the cue area of Kanonen. But after one hour the prime nerves of Mechanica made a bolt to come loose from the ride. To everyone's relief no one got hurt. After identifying where the bolt came from, the mechanics replaced the bolt and made a safety check of the ride so Mechanica was up and running after 4 hours. The sign to the new candy store was in place and you can now by candy in all of the rainbows colors After a couple of ride on all the roller coasters it was time to go for this time, so I have to ride Mechanica another day. News report in Swedish: SVT - Mechanica står still /// Marcus Over to the pictures: First GP riders Needs to practice on my timing The sign is up for the new candy store Candy in all the color of the rainbow Mechanica t-shirt Lisebergskaniner
BugEyed
The Mechanica shirt isn't as "Metal" as i'd hoped for. Hopefully they'll have a wider selection to choose from by then.

Nrthwnd
^ Too - much - bunny. And ^^ Every time I was at Liseberg, finding a t-shirt wasn't easy, and wasn't everywhere in the park. It was a challenge, but I did find something, although now it doesn't fit me, lol. There were HELIX shirts available, last summer TPR was there. I got one. But another one, especially of a flat ride, is great! And if these shirts are popular, they may come up with a more "metal" look to another version. lond
Some interesting news from Liseberg: After being placed on ice 2012, Liseberg will continue the planing of expanding the amusementpark with a new south entrance, hotel, park area and a 12000 sqm indoor waterpark. 2018 the construction of Västlänken will start with the consequence of some building in the northern part of Liseberg will be demolished. It will also restrict the northern entrance, so Liseberg plans to rebuild and expand the south entrance to handle 1000 persons. Scandinaviour
I can confirm that we WANT to expand and build an indoor waterpark with a hotel. But that doesn't mean that we WILL. There are also other options. The owner, the city of Gothenburg, must give their thumbs up before we can proceed with a more detailed area plan. And that can take a while.... There is also a chance/risk that we put the waterpark in a trash can, and develop the area with more flat rides and maybe a coaster. But I can assure you that if we get the thumbs up for the waterpark and hotel, it's gonna be great. Really great The pictures you see from the newspaper does not even give a hint of how amazing it would look like. I promise that I will come back with more "official" information as soon as possible. But as I said, it can take a while...

Scandinaviour
Did Liseberg purchase the SAAB gearbox factory that was south of the park? Yes! Liseberg bought it in 2013, for 250million SEK. (30million USD). And the factory has so far not been useless, even if it's old and empty. It has actually been used as a film studio/sound stage during the year.
